• Useexistingtrails.Avoidterrainsuchasdangerous slopesandimpassableswamps.Watchcarefullyfor sharpbumps,holes,ruts,orobstacles.

• Lookaheadatterrain.Knowwhatiscomingandbe preparedtoreact.Bealertforhazards.

• Keepfrontwheelsstraightatcrestofhillorgoingover bumps.

CheckWheelBolts

IMPORTANT:Overtighteningoffrontwheelhub mountingboltsmayresultinbearingdamage.

• Aseriousaccidentcouldoccurcausingseriousinjury ifwheelboltsarenottight.

• Checkwheelbolttightnessafterfirst10hoursof vehicleoperationandevery200hoursthereafter.

• Neverdrivepastthelimitofvisibility.Slowdownnear crestofhilluntilgettingaclearviewoftheotherside.

• Keepfrontwheelsstraightatcrestofhillorgoingover bumps.

• DONOTstoporstartsuddenlywhengoinguphillor downhill.Beespeciallycautiouswhenchanging directiononslopes.

• Ifvehiclestopsorlosespowergoingupahill,apply parkbraketoholdvehicleonslope.Maintaindirectionof travelandreleasebrakeslowly.Backstraightdownhill slowlywhilemaintainingcontrol.DONOTturnvehicle sideways.Vehicleismorestableinastraightforwardor rearwardposition.

• Whendescendingahill,removefootfromaccelerator andapplybrakestoreducespeedandmaintaincontrol.

• Useofahelmetand/orprotectivegearis recommendedforcertainoperatingconditions.

• Reducespeedwhiledrivingthroughwater. Nevercrossanybodyofwaterwheredepthmaybe unknowntotheoperator.Asanoperationalguideline, deepwaterisconsideredanythinginexcessof152mm (6in.)indepth.Tiresmayfloat,makingitdifficultto maintaincontrol.

• Chooseacoursewithinthewaterwaywhereboth bankshaveagradualincline.Crossatapointknownto besafe.

• Proceedataslowsteadyspeedtoavoidsubmerged obstaclesandslipperyrocks.

• Avoidwatercrossingswheretheoperationofautility vehiclemaycausedamagetowaterwaybedsorerode waterwayshoreline.

OPERATINGMACHINE

Thedifferentiallockisusedforbettertractionwhenrear wheelsstarttoslip.Engagingthedifferentiallockwill causeallrearwheelstoturntogetheratequalspeed.

CAUTION:Helppreventbodilyinjurydueto lossofsteeringcontrol.Donotoperateutility vehicleatspeedsinexcessof16km/h(10 mph)orattempttoturnwhendifferentiallock isengaged.

IMPORTANT:Avoidtransaxledamage.Donot attempttoengageordisengagedifferentiallockat highspeeds.Lockpinswillnotengage,and damagewilloccurtotransaxleand/orlinkage. Fordifferentiallocktoengage,theleftandright sidewheelsmustbeturningatslightlydifferent speeds.

Leverpositionsare,DISENGAGED(B)andENGAGED (A).

Toengagedifferentiallock:

IMPORTANT:Fordifferentiallocktoengage,the opposingwheel(s)mustbeturningslightlyfaster thanoppositewheel(s).

• Stoporslowutilityvehicleenginespeedto1/3throttle orless.

• Pushdownonlever(C),differentiallockwillremain engagedaslongasleverisdown.Functionindicator panellightondashwillcome “ON”

• Todisengagedifferentiallockraiselever(C).Function indicatorpanellightondashwillgo “OFF”.

NOTE:Panellightonlytellsyouwhenleverisin “ON”or“OFF”position.Toactuallydisengagethe differentiallock,equalizetorqueonbothaxles. Drivevehiclestraightaheadatconstantspeedor stopandreversemachine.Thisinformationis describedinthevideotapesuppliedwithmachine.

UsingTransaxleShiftLever

IMPORTANT:DONOTshiftgearswhenutility vehicleismovingorwithenginerunningabove lowidlespeed.Damagetotransaxlewilloccur. Avoidgrindingofgears.Alwaysengageshiftlever withafirmpositiveaction.

Avoidgrindinggears:

• Waituntiltheenginecomestolowidlespeedbefore shifting.

• Alwayscometoacompletestopbeforeshifting.

• DONOTraceengineinneutralandthenshiftvehicle intogear.

Shiftlever(A)islocatedonaconsoletotherightand belowtheoperatorseat.Therearethreepositions:

FORWARD:Pushshiftleverforward.

NEUTRAL:Movelevertomiddleposition.

REVERSE:Pullshiftlevertoright,thenpullrearward.

AdjustingSeats

1.Liftandtipvehicleseatforward.

NOTE:Thebackoftheseatwillhitthefrontofthe fender.Usecarewhenadjusting.

2.Loosenhardware(A).

3.Slideseatforwardorbackwardtodesiredposition.

NOTE:Leftrearboltpositiononpassengerseatis intentionallyleftopen,nobolt.

4.Tightenhardware.

NOTE:Lateralseatmovementcanbeaccomplished byremovingseathardwareandmovingseattothe otherslottedseatposition(B).

StartingtheEngine

CAUTION:Exhaustfumescancause sicknessordeath.Helppreventpersonal injuryordeath,ifitisnecessarytorunthe engineinanenclosedarea,removefumes withexhaustpipeextensionorpowered ventilationsystemdesignedforthispurpose. Ifanextensionisnotused,opendoorsto provideventilation.

1.Sitonvehicleoperator’sseat.DONOTstartengineat thistime.

2.Pushdownonacceleratorpedal(A)tocheckforfree movementofpedalassembly.Releasepedal.

3.Engageparkbrakeifvehicleisparkedonanincline.

NOTE:Yourutilityvehiclehasaneutralstartsafety switch.Enginewillnotstartunlesstransaxleshift leverisinN(Neutral)position.

4.MovegearshiftlevertoN(Neutral)position.

5.EngageparkingbrakebypullingUPonhandle(B).

CAUTION:Helppreventpossibleinjuryor death.Remainalerttootherpeopleandthe surroundingswhenchoosinganareafor vehicleoperation.

Whenacceleratorpedalisdepressed,vehicle willbegintomove.Directionoftravelwillbe determinedbythepositionofthetransaxle shiftlever.

DONOTstartenginebyshortingacross starterterminals.Vehiclewillstartingearif normalcircuitryisby-passed.

Neverstartenginewhilestandingonground. Startengineonlyfromoperator’sseat.

6.TurnignitionswitchtotheRUNposition(C).

ThefollowingindicatorlightswillbeON:

• Batterydischargeindicator(D).

• Oilpressureindicator(E).

• Coolanttemperatureindicator(F).

• Enginepreheatindicator(G);willcomeONforup to8seconds.LengthoftimeONvarieswithair temperature.

IMPORTANT:DONOToperatevehiclestarter

morethan5secondsatatimeordamagemay occur.Ifenginewillnotstart,wait10seconds beforetryingagain.Ifenginestartingproblems persist,refertotheTroubleshootingsection.

7.Assoonascoolanttemperatureandpreheat indicatorsgoout,turntheignitionswitchtoSTART position(H).

• Ifenginestarts,releaseswitchtotheRUNposition.

• Ifenginedoesnotstartwithin5seconds,turnthe ignitionswitchtoOFFandwait10secondsbefore tryingtostartagain.

• Inverycoldconditions,attemptstartingonlythree timesandthenwait5minutesbeforetryingtostart again.Thiswillallowtimeforstartertocooland preventdamagetostarter.

WarmingandIdlingtheEngine

IMPORTANT:Donotoperatetheengineatfull throttleorunderloaduntilenginehaswarmedup, orenginedamagecouldoccur.

WarmingEngine

Runengineathalfspeedfor2or3minutes.

IdlingEngine

1.Avoidunnecessaryslowidling.Instead,stopengine.

CAUTION:Tohelppreventinjurydueto entanglementinfan,stopenginebefore cleaningscreens.Fancanrunevenifengine isoff.

1.Releaseacceleratorpedalandallowenginetoslow idle.

2.MovegearshiftlevertoN(Neutral)position.

3.Engageparkingbrake.

4.TurntheignitionswitchtotheSTOPposition(A).

RaisingandLoweringCargoBoxUsing PowerLift

1.TurntheignitionswitchtoRUNposition(A).

2.Raisecargoboxbypushinginontopofrockerswitch (B).

NOTE:Thenoisethatisheardwhenthepowerlift reachestheendofit’sstroke,orwhenliftcapacityis exceeded,istheactuator’sclutchslipping.Keep clutchsliptoaminimum.Donotoverloadvehicle capacity.

3.Lowercargoboxbypushinginonbottomofrocker switch(B).
