Carmarthen Amateur Operatic Society celebrates their 120th Anniversary by performing the ever popular Annie. The stage is set in early December 1933 in a municipal orphanage in New York, and so the story of Annie's search for her parents unfolds. The performance will be directed by Carmarthen's own star of TV and the West End Mr Marc Skone and Musical Director Mrs. Helen Wyn.
One of the most prolific writers in Britain, Roy Hattersley was a Guardian columnist for 27 years and writes regularly for The Times. A former Cabinet minister and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, he stood down in 1997 and was made a peer. He now concentrates on his writing. A popular speaker and is a regular at literary events and a favourite with audiences.
Mae’r stori’n digwydd yn gynnar ym mis Rhagfyr 1933 mewn cartref plant amddifad yn Efrog Newydd, ac fe gawn hanes Annie wrth iddi chwilio am ei rhieni.

An all-American musical comedy set in the early 1900s, Hello Dolly is the upbeat tale of Dolly Levi, a widow turned matchmaker who, having quit meddling in the lives of others, decides it's time to remarry. Her sights are set on Horace Vandergelder but she has already paired him up with another woman who she feels is unsuitable.

PATAGONIA CHARITY CONCERT
Carmarthenshire Music Service presents
June 11th 2011 sees a glittering array of stars and celebrities come together for a charity concert in order to raise funds for the establishment of a new Welsh language school in Patagonia’s Welsh colony.
A variety of ensembles will perform at the Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen on the 15th and 16th June and will showcase children from all over the County. The children have worked hard all year with the Music service staff to prepare a varied repertoire of music old and new that will prove enjoyable to all attending the concerts. This event is a showcase for the very young talent that is being nurtured within the county and provides an essential performing opportunity for the children to enjoy with their relatives and friends.

Did you know that on the 19th August 1911 soldiers were summoned by magistrates to break up a crowd of striking railway workers who had gathered peacefully at the station gates? Or that the Mad Riots in Llanelli made the newspapers all over the world? What do you know about Llanelli’s history? Come and find out in this explosive musical.
