Monday, Dec. 16, 11 a.m.—12 noon, #116 Guided imagery and meditation are related paths for exploring how body and mind can collaborate to create the serenity to handle pain and anxiety. Guided Imagery is an ideal tool for exploring hopes and dreams. Meditation includes a variety of strategies for quieting and centering mind, heart, and physical energy. In this class, we will explore a number of guided imagery and meditation practices to find what really works for you. This class will include some light, physical stretches and tension releases. We'll move to a brief explanation of the specific imagery or meditation practice to be explored, and then undertake a guided inner journey to a destination where you can study and explore your own inner inspirations, feelings, fantasies and fulfillment.

Osher Lifelong Learning – Architecture of the Silk Road: China Wednesday, Dec. 18, 10—11:45 a.m., AUD December brings the first-part in a five-part series on the Architecture of the Silk Road, which has brought to mind the images of exotic lands, adventurous travel, inspiring cuisines and luxury goods. The lecture will focus on the architecture of Beijing, the Great Wall and Shanghai concessions. The results of contact with Indian Buddhism and the West will also be explored. Diane Kane, an architectural historian and retired Senior Planner for the City of San Diego, provides her expertise on the subject. Seaside Singers 6th Annual Holiday Concert Wednesday, Dec. 18 & Thursday, Dec. 19, 1:30 p.m., AUD Join us this holiday season for numbers that will include carols by Alfred Burt, a Hanukkah selection, a sing-a-long, The Christmas Song by Mel Torme, solo selections, a Spanish piano solo by Violeta and a concert selection of "T'was the Night Before Christmas," by Clement Moore, as presented by Fred Waring.
The (mature) 35-member voice group is backed by Jeff Sell as Director, Mark Phelps on Bass and Violeta Petrova as Pianist. The four- and five-part choral group was formed to give area residents an opportunity to sing and perform with others who share their passion for singing. Members must be able to read music and use a computer to read emails and print their own music.
