I hope you all had a great spooky season! We had several festive events for Halloween and October last month. This includes the Goblin Walk, Post-Goblin Walk Clean-up, and mak ing Origami Turkeys! We still have events to sign up for this month! Take a look on page 17 for the calendar for November events.
If you’re new to Key Club, you might get confused by the several levels of Key Club! Check out page 16 for a breakdown of the levels and 13 for updates on our division level!
One really fun event to look forward to is the Novem ber DCM! All the clubs from D34N will come together to make lunch bags for Meals on Wheels and make thanksgiving cards. In addition, you will gain 2 MRP category requirement credits. See page 14 for more details!
For this November release, I have implemented a Thanksgiving theme! Feel free to reach out with any questions about Key Club and feedback you have for

I hope you enjoyed the month of October! It’s definitely flown by for me; I can’t believe it’s already Fall. The season of holidays and festivities is right around the corner! Thank you so much for taking the time to vol unteer this month and for coming to our club meetings. October was filled with amazing service, from the Wildcat Walk & Carnival, where we ran carnival booths, to the San Car los Goblin walk and Paper Crane Project event! We also had a blast at our boba and hot chocolate sales at football games. And a special shout out to our members that attended Fall Rally North and cheered with our division!
For November, we have a lot of exciting events planned, so be sure to sign up for them. Some highlights include the San Carlos Kiwanis An nual Tennis Tournament, a school cleanup, and an interclub with Ara gon Key Club, where we’ll be having a food drive and potluck! We are going to volunteer with our sponsoring D34 Kiwanis at the annual Safeway Nourishing Neighbors Food Drive. Make sure to turn in your club applications and dues if you haven’t already. Feel free to bring your friends to events and get them into Key Club too!
Make sure to attend our weekly club meetings in Room D12. No vember is the month to give thanks, and I am incredibly thankful to all of you for making Key Club so amazing! Don’t forget to contact your teachers, a key clubber, leader, friend, or family member to show your appreciation for them :)
Best, Alice Finkelstein Senior 2022-2023 President 806047@seq.org
Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you want to talk!
Lindsay Wong has been active at events and consistently attended club meet ings. In addition, since the start of the se mester, she has been at a mix of online and in-person events. At online events, she consitently puts in sincere effort!
Giani Berini has taken a very active part in the club. He presented at the 11/17 meeting for the PTP fundraiser and raised $59 for PTP Bottled Water Fundraiser at the San Carlos Arts & Wine Fair by himself. He was not shy to ask people buying bottled water to donate to PTP when he hands out change money. He joined the Fundraising Committee as a committee member and has been contributing in planning fundraisers. At Fall Rally North (FRN), he was one of the three representatives from our club.
With the consistent boba fundrais ers, Colin has done a great job communicating with ASB.
Ritika has been working hard in the fundraising committee to plan out fundraisers such as consistent boba fundraising at football games!
This event was after the Goblin Walk, where Key Club members passed out can dy to kids passing by as an early Trick-or-Treating event! The day after, members returned to the same location to pick up candy wrappers and keep the area clean!
The San Carlos Arts and Wine festival was an amazing event since I was able to see our community up-close intimately! I interacted with people from my community and saw the generous sides of our community. I also learned how to communicate with people as a salesman with them being consum ers, which taught me communication skills. Seeing everyone out and about enjoying themselves made me appreciate my community even more.
On October 1, we had the opportunity to volunteer at the San Carlos Adult Com munity Center Pedro Tournament. Carlmont Key Club always volunteers at this annual event, so it was cool to be able to continue the tradition. At the event, mem bers helped serve attendees their lunch, refilled drinks, and cleaned up afterward. We even got to enjoy some pumpkin pie! Before serving lunch, we played fun games like billiards (pool) and got to know each other better while having pizza for lunch. The event was also a fundraiser, as the attendees donated money to our club to help fund our club to go to events like Fall Rally North (FRN), which will be happening in November. I loved interacting with our community and bonding even more with my fellow Key Clubbers, and I can’t wait to do more events like this!
Writing Letters to Firefighters: 5 volunteers for 7.5 hours
Thanksgiving Cards for Project Give: 11 volunteers for 22.5 hours
Amber Toor Junior Thanksgiving Cards For Project Give was a fun and creative event hosted by Kaelyn Tam. We were tasked with writing cards for senior citizens and were given detailed instructions on how to format our cards as well as tips on what to write. It was heartwarming knowing that the cards I was writing would be sent out to people I had never met and hopefully put a smile on their faces this Thanksgiving. The best part was seeing everyone turn their cameras on towards the end of the event for a group picture. Everyone had chosen a different design for their card, from bold colors to intricate flowers to a great big turkey in the center. It was awesome seeing how much effort everyone had put into their cards, and it was a rewarding experience.
This event was so much fun since it was volunteering at a Halloween Party! We ran all the games, helped give treats as prizes, and managed tickets. One re ally cool thing about the party is their cotton candy machine! After the event, we spent time with the kids playing tag and ensuring they had a great night! I recommend going to any Burkard School events in the future!
This event, on November 6th, was on zoom, and we made origami for hospitalized children. At the event, we made origami turkeys and other fall-themed origami, such as origami leaves. Personally, I did not know how to make origami turkeys beforehand, so it was interesting to learn how to make the turkeys and the leaves. I also enjoyed making this origami because it is always so cool to see the finished product. I enjoyed this event because it was fun, and it was gratifying knowing that some hospitalized kids’ days would brighten after receiving the origami.

SOSP stands for Spotlight on Service Program. Every month we have a different organization that we direct our service projects towards.
On November 19th, we worked with our Kiwanis division to ask Safeway shoppers to donate $10 to assist local hunger relief organizations through the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Second Harvest is currently serving over 450,000 people facing Food Insecurity. This in cludes an increase of over 80% since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Kiwanis is not just a global organization, but a family. The Kiwanis Family has been serving Key Club since 1925 through its sponsored leadership clubs to “help peo ple of all ages develop the heart to serve, answer the call to lead and accept the courage to engage.” During the month of November, CNH puts its volunteer efforts towards recognizing the hours the Kiwanis Family dedicates annually to raise money for global causes & improving our overall community.
There are several ways to participate in this month’s SOSP! Having interclubs, letters to Kiwanis, and bingo nights are some ideas given by CNH. Our club was involved in this SOSP through the Kiwanis DCM! It was both an interclub and a DCM which allowed us to bond with other members of Key Club and another branch of our organization.
Each club is made up of at least 15 members led by a President Carlmont Key Club
Each division is made up of various clubs in a defined territory led by a Lieutenant Governor Division 34 North
Each district is made up of one or more states led by a Governor Cal-Nev-Ha District
Key Club Int’l encom passes all clubs with in its 33 districts and other countries not included in a district
As a new member, Key Club’s structure may seem confusing, but the diagram above is a greatly helpful resource that breaks everything down. Our club is just a small part of a very large organization that is split into the following four levels: Club, Division, District, and International.
- Club represents anything that you do solely for our club, whether that be partici pate in a fundraiser, running for a position as a committee member, etc.
- The divison is in charge of overseeing a set number of clubs (15 for D34N) and guiding them through events with other clubs, connecting them to the district and international level, and merging everyone together into one Key Club family.
- District level is all of the divisions in a selected area (ours is all divisions from Cali fornia, Nevada, and Hawaii)
- Our district (CNH) is the largest of all 33 districts of Key Club International with:
- 44,000 members
- 763 Key Clubs
- 80 divisions
- 18 regions
- Key Club International is made up of all of the Key Clubs around the world. An international event that you can attend this term is ICON in person or virtually July 6-10. **See page 20 for more details.
