Vision 2025:

Business for a Better World

Message from the Dean Dear Friends, The Sprott School of Business prides itself on being a strong and supportive scholarly community where everyone can thrive, no matter where they have come from or where they wish to go. Years ago, our students captured the essence of our community in a simple concept, #SprottLove. #SprottLove provides us with an excellent foundation for our future. Businesses of tomorrow need to lead from the heart, with compassion, imagination and purpose. At Sprott, future leaders gain the confidence to ask hard questions, to embrace diverse perspectives and to be authentic in their leadership. For our students, alumni, staff and faculty, we are a community for life. In 2020, our world changed forever in the face of a pandemic that disrupted every element of our life and business as we knew it. At Sprott, our community values and capacity to adapt allowed us to rally together to provide our students, alumni, partners and one another the support and knowledge to forge ahead through this period of change. As we tackled the challenges right in front of us, we also joined together to consider our future. Our ambitions for the future build on our strengths and our community values. The next five years will be filled with opportunities - for the world and for Sprott. Although we can only imagine what the world ahead will be like, we know that we will rely on human ingenuity to create prosperity without harm to our health or our planet. We know that a better world is one that is more equitable and just, more sustainable and more caring. At Sprott, we can contribute to a better world ahead through the continued provision of outstanding education, research and partnerships. By 2025, the Sprott School of Business will be well known for transformational learning experiences that prepare graduates to embrace complexity and

creatively respond to change. We will be known for research that provides organizations with insights and tools to adapt and respond to opportunities responsibly and effectively. Sprott will also be known for its impact on our region’s economic prosperity and on Canada’s role as a global leader in sustainable business and investment. I am thrilled to present a strategic plan for the Sprott School of Business that will help us to realize these ambitions. As the school moves to its new home in the Nicol Building, boundless opportunities await us. This strategic plan provides clarity in our mission and a framework by which our actions are accomplished, with a shared set of values that live and breathe the #SprottLove credo.

Dr. Dana Brown Dean, Sprott School of Business
