The Career Service supports you throughout your academic journey! Our primary goal is to guide you so that you can understand:

· Who you are (what you like, what you’re good at, and what you expect from the future)

· What you can do in the job market

· How to choose the right job

· Where to find it

We offer activities starting from your undergraduate degree.

We support you during your master’s degree program. And we keep an eye on you even after graduation!

It’s important to develop strong self-awareness to determine if you’re heading in the right direction. How do we help you achieve this?

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

We offer individual consultations and group activities to:

· Understand and strengthen your soft skills (mock interviews with HR professionals)

· Identify your skills, passions, talents, and values, and learn how to communicate them

· Prepare tools to effectively present your profile in the job market (writing and revising your CV)

Who will you meet? HR professionals and assessors, corporate mentors, or Career Service advisors.

MEETINGS WITH COMPANIES

Participate in daily online and on-campus meetings with companies to:

· Hear firsthand accounts of professional roles

· Understand industry trends and the activities engineers, architects, and designers perform in companies

· Discover innovation projects developed by companies

· Speak directly with managers, often Polimi alumni

Who will you meet? Alumni, former students, technical managers, and specialists.

· Check employment and market data available on our website to get an idea of job prospects, salaries, and contracts

· Build your first professional network and participate in real job interviews to secure internships or employment

· Browse the Career Service online job board and apply for internships or work opportunities

· Attend career fairs to expand your knowledge of companies, discover new Italian and international workplaces, and introduce yourself to HR professionals.

BECOMING INNOVATORS

We guide you through a unique orientation and discovery path focused on the role of Innovators in its many forms. After an individual consultation with a Career Advisor, the “Am I an Innovator?” program helps you explore various career paths in innovation. You’ll be guided in choosing between Start-up Bootcamp, Company Bootcamp, PhD Shadowing, and Innovation Sessions.

AN ORIENTATION PODCAST

We’ve also created a podcast called MY TURN, designed for you as you enter the job market. In 6 episodes, we discuss key topics for those seeking their path. These aren’t typical lessons but rather practical advice and concrete tips from experts who engage in conversations with Polimi students, just like you!

· GROUP ASSESSMENT

Have a mock interview conducted by real company assessors, to realise which ‘soft’ skills are most in demand, learn about your strengths and simulate a real selection process. The assessment test consists in a three-hour group discussion and individual case, in which assessors observe your soft skills. You will then have to do a self-assessment and receive one-to-one feedback directly from the company assessors. This selection method is widespread in companies. It is used to assess candidates, identify their potential and aptitudes in order to decide on hiring or planning career growth.

· MEET YOUR CAREER ADVISOR

Get tips on how to best design your CV highlighting your strengths, have a mock interview before your first job interview, get to know the sectors, roles and skills required by the job market! Throughout the semester you will be able to meet Career Advisors and you can also book yourself in for one of the 30 scheduled meetings for the “Career Advisor online with Company HR” activity to interact one-to-one with a company HR representative.

· IMPROVE YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING

Enhance your personal branding for the job market, an unmissable opportunity to improve your online reputation and strengthen your presence on social media and beyond! Meet HR representatives and corporate communication experts to discover the best practices for optimizing your LinkedIn profile and identify strategies to increase its visibility and professionalism online.

· PORTFOLIO CHECK FOR ARCHITECTS

Receive valuable advice from architects and industry professionals on how to present your portfolio effectively to companies and studios. This personalized orientation and consulting service provides useful guidance on technical and design aspects, as well as on the graphic and illustrative presentation of your portfolio. Each consulting session is one-on-one and can take place either on campus or online.

INTERNSHIP CENTER

A space for you to get informed on internships: you can find us at the Leonardo Campus and the Bovisa Campus. Come meet us to understand how to find the best internship for you and how to activate it. What actually happens in this space? You can drop by during opening hours without needing an appointment. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with your Internship Advisor, either for individual counseling or simply to get answers to your specific questions.

Listen to advice on how to make the most of an internship experience, receive important information on how to search for and activate an internship, and discover the most frequently asked questions that interns pose to the Career Service during an internship. You can address this and much more with your Internship Advisor! Register online and book a one-to-one meeting from those scheduled every week.

THIS SEMESTER

The Career Service has prepared an exciting semester for you, with over 180 events. You’ll have the chance to connect with more than 200 companies and meet Polimi alumni who have already started their careers and are ready to share their experience with you.

During these events, you can take part in insight sessions, alumni mentoring, networking, roundtables, talks, career competitions, career experiences, career lunches, HR tips, and tours - all designed to give you a full picture of the working world. Sign up for a one-to-one meeting with the Career Advisor to analyse your motivation, experiences and goals in relation to careers in innovation.

STARTUP BOOTCAMP

15 hours over 5 weeks to learn about the strategies and skills to become a startupper and/or to patent an idea

COMPANY BOOTCAMP

An in-company experience where managers and researchers will guide you to learn more about the role of the innovator in companies

INNOVATION SESSIONS

At the same time you can choose to take part in innovation sessions on cross-cutting topics linked to innovation: from roles to the skills required to make it happen.

Discover the program: TEF Ignition

Do you have a tech idea and want to challenge yourself in the world of innovation? TEF Ignition is the perfect opportunity to start building something concrete.

Eligibility requirement: to apply, you must have already completed the Innovator Interview.

TEF Ignition is a 7-week intensive program, organized by Tech Europe Foundation and open to students from Politecnico di Milano and Università Bocconi.

Throughout the journey you will:

· develop your tech idea

· work with experienced mentors

· access a €2,000 budget to experiment

· follow dedicated e-learning sessions

· join mentor-led workshops

· present your project in a final pitch to a jury

A total of 50 teams from Politecnico and 50 teams from Bocconi will be selected. Among them, up to 15 teams will have the chance to showcase their idea at the Demo Day and compete for the TEF Awards. More info here

Switch2Product - Innovation Challenge

Do you have a scientific, technological, or entrepreneurial project and are looking for funding to launch it and turn it into a startup? Switch2Product (S2P) is the entrepreneurial empowerment program designed by Politecnico di Milano to enhance research projects and foster technology transfer.

Team participation: applications are only accepted in groups of at least 2 people. Teams may include external members, but at least one participant must be affiliated with Politecnico di Milano.

With S2P you will have the opportunity to:

· receive cash grants of up to €30,000 to grow your idea

· develop a solid business model

· validate your market

· follow a training and incubation path

· access a network of investors, founders, and corporates to engage and collaborate with

The program is structured around 5 Deep Tech verticals, allowing you to explore and advance your project with the support of mentors and industry experts.

CAREER MENTORING FOR WOMEN WITH STARTUPPERS

Are you a female student or PhD candidate at Politecnico di Milano aspiring to found a startup?

This project aims to guide you in developing the essential soft skills needed to successfully lead an innovative project. Through the mentoring program, you will gain awareness and preparation regarding the challenges women face in the startup world.

During 4 meetings, you will develop the entrepreneurial skills necessary to start a startup, tackling key topics such as female leadership, negotiation, resource management, networking, resilience, proactiveness in seeking investments and risk-taking

TYPE OF EVENTS

The events we offer focus on a specific sector or mega-trend and are tailored to particular degree programs. Here are the formats you can choose from:

ROUND TABLE WITH COMPANIES

Hear from professionals as they share their career journeys and answer your questions about roles, skills, and career paths. This format fosters an open dialogue between different companies’ perspectives.

CAREER LUNCH

A great opportunity to connect directly with managers and professionalsall Polimi alumni - and hear about their real-life work experiences. The event starts with a 30-minute smart lunch for informal networking, followed by short company talks about projects, career paths, and required skills.

HR TIPS: YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS ON THE JOB

Find out what really happens in the first months after graduating. In short 15-minute talks, companies will explain how they onboard new hires, introduce you to graduate programs, and share useful tips for starting your career off right. Each talk ends with time for your questions, with input from HR reps and/or technical staff ready to share concrete experiences.

GROUP MENTORING WITH ALUMNI

Join informal small group sessions with young Polimi alumni working as managers and professionals. Ask them direct questions about the working world: What skills are most in demand? How should you shape your academic path? What’s life in a company really like, and how do they tackle new challenges?

DEEP DIVE

Follow a series of company talks focused on innovative projects and the skills needed to join their teams. After the presentations, interact directly with company managers and consultants.

GUESS MY JOB

Discover the roles of company representatives through clues. Listen to their anonymous presentations and, based on the hints provided, try to guess their exact job title and role.

CAREER COMPETITION

Work in a team to compete against others in a challenge designed to test your skills. You’ll develop a project related to different fields and improve your soft skills like teamwork and time management. These exercises reflect real-world challenges you might face in your future career.

CONSULTANT PROFILE: CRACK THE TECHNICAL CASE

A 4-part event series where each session features a different consulting company. Experts will guide you through a hands-on technical case simulation that you’ll solve dynamically and interactively.

CAREER SIMULATION

An innovative format where you’ll tackle real challenges companies face every day. Using specific tools, you’ll work on solving problems and developing projects related to specific technologies - simulating their real-world application.

CAREER EXPERIENCE

Join an interactive experience where you’ll work closely with company representatives and participate in a variety of activities: video presentations, tool simulations, role-playing, and case studies. A unique chance to experience firsthand how innovation projects are designed and developed across different industries.

COMPANY TOURS

An actual field trip! Visit the headquarters of various companies and discover their working environments up close. These visits include both company presentations and moments of direct dialogue and networking with staff. This semester, you’ll have the chance to take a closer look at different sectors thanks to three types of tours: Consulting Company Tours, Electronics Sector Tours, Designers in Tour to understand the roles and responsibilities of designers in different professional contexts.

This podcast aims to give you the tools you need to face the job market with more awareness and competence when your turn comes.

In the podcast there are no lectures by experts. Instead, each episode features a conversation involving two students from Politecnico di Milano just like you, who have the opportunity to talk with an expert HR manager, ask questions and seek advice on a specific topic. In six episodes you will hear about: CV and cover letter writing, networking, job hunting, public speaking, self-evaluation and negotiation.

These will not be the usual recommendations: the aim of the series is to analyse, with a fresh approach, those aspects, usually little treated, that really make a difference today.

The 2025 Employment Survey tells the story of thousands of graduates from the Politecnico di Milano: 16.000 young professionals interviewed one and five years after graduation

The starting point: success after 1 year

Italian master’s graduates find a job within 1 year of graduation

already hold a permanent contract (among engineers this percentage rises to 98%)

Do you want to be at the forefront of change? Starting on October 7th, the Innovator Bootcamp with Reply, designed by the Career Service together with Reply, will help you discover and develop the skills of an innovator in business. Through six modules, including plenary sessions and interactive workshops, you will explore a role that is becoming increasingly strategic in today’s job market.

With the involvement of three Reply companies – ADEPTIC IT, SILICON SHORING IT, and CLUSTER DATA IT – you’ll have the chance to take part in hands-on activities, experience the innovation culture up close, and strengthen your digital mindset, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
