I honestly look forward to the weekly key-club meetings. This is because I feel like Key Club is such a safe space and everyone is so friendly. We also don’t just focus on events, but we also talk about stuff that’s happening in the real world which classes don’t mention at all. The weekly Key Club meetings are not a waste of time and instead make me miss in real-life meetings a lot more. - Maggie Lin

Meetings every Tuesday in which we do very fun and engaging activities which help interact with one another and keep up with any weekly updates. It helps me be able to not only get away with school but also be able to meet and know more about other people with different backgrounds. - Katherine Ramos

I choose this event because I enjoy coming here, it is a fun activity. In key club meetings, I am able to be informed about certain topics that I wouldn’t have known about which is what makes it interesting. I would totally be interested in taking part in these events in the future. - Noora Nizar

I loved the most recent Key Club meeting hosted by the new service year. It was way more engaging to get to know Club members more than names in a chat box. The mafia game engaged members with a fun activity to interact with one another while using skills to win the game. - Jasmine Germany

The Key Club Meetings were overall fantastic with the new board taking over! The recent icebreakers and game of mafia were really entertaining. Overall a 10/10 experience and I would recommend it to everyone to attend the meetings. - Rami Kenawi

I tend to look forward to Key Club meetings because of how fun and interactive they usually are. Everyone has such a positive attitude and personality that makes the meetings fun to go to. It's one of those things where again you're surrounded by people who make your day. Plus when we do the icebreakers it takes my mind off things. I like how the Key Club meetings are very constant, they are no breaks except for SAT days. It's also a great way to interact with people, talking about their week and I love how we always start with an ice breaker. I look forward to each week's ice breaker or activity before the real discussion starts. It's nice to chat and smile after a long day of online school. - Alyssa Choi

The Key Club Meetings are a great way to interact with club members and are a much-needed break after a long day of school. The meetings are always informative and timely, and most of the time, very interactive and fun. I look forward to the remaining club meetings for this school year until we go back to Cardozo in September. - Ezan Khan

I chose this event to talk about because I think it is something we could all need. This event is very useful during these times as people are isolated and these meetings can help people interact with others and keep their mental health in order. I had begun to attend Key Club meetings for sophomore year early this April because they offered service hours. Gradually, as I kept going to the meetings, I felt really comfortable making new friends in places like the Key Club Discord. It had begun to feel enjoyable and I started to attend Key Club meetings for fun, as the meetings consisted of several activities such as icebreakers and the recent Mafia game. - Nyaem Mostafa

Our key club meetings are very fun and entertaining. It is a place where members of our club can all bond together and talk about important issues or problems we may be having. The leaders of our club treat our meetings like a family, which I love. I also love that most people in our club express themselves so freely. There’s never a dull moment at any of our meetings. Key Club Meetings are fun and an exciting part of my Tuesdays. Not only am I able to get opportunities for service credit but I am also able to distress a bit due to the fun ice breakers. They are always very enjoyable and never too overwhelming perfect for a club meeting. - Gabrielle Gayle 6

I was curious about clubs, so I tried joining key club, and it was really fun, my first meeting we played a game of mafia and icebreakers, then talked about events, which felt very social, especially during online, I would definitely join again! - Michelle Chen

I chose to go to Key Club Meetings because they are fun and a great way to relax and interact with fellow members of the club. The icebreakers are always the most entertaining part of the meetings because it's fun to talk about certain topics together and know each other's opinions. I would definitely be interested in participating in future meetings because, at the end of a long day, the meetings really cheer me up. - Amber Sun

Key Club x UNICEF PPE Drive

This event is such a great way to get involved with helping the community and giving back. Covid-19 has impacted so many families negatively more than we know, so to know that we can help by donating necessities is honestly a reliever, at least for me. It can also be a reliever to the people we’ve donated to since they temporarily don’t have to worry about having to pay for masks, hand sanitizers, etc. - Amber Sun

I choose this event because this event has genuine intentions. This event is helping out people in need, sanitation items and such are so important during this time. This event is so interesting because people are able to help out and give back to the community. I would be interested in taking part in these virtual events in the future as well. - Noora Nizar

Donation Drop-Offs to the Sinchi Family

I participated in the donation for this family because I know that if that was me I would want the same treatment. I think it’s horrible that any family has to go through any type of tragedy in this case for her I felt extremely bad and I knew that the right thing was to donate as much as I can. I am very fortunate and I’m very grateful for my parents and the things that I have so giving back is never a problem and it will never be a problem because I know that I’m doing something great and I know it’s coming from my heart. - Sariyah Harrison

I chose this event because this event is helping out a fellow peer. This event is crucial to the Sinchi family, it will help them very greatly. This event is to help out this family because their house has recently burned down. I would be interested in taking part in these virtual events in the future as well. - Noora Nizar

I have not yet donated to this for the Sinchi Family, but I have brought awareness of this to my family to help out. I would be devastated if a disaster happened to my own family so I would love to help in the best ways I can, especially to someone I would pass in the halls. Eventually, I will reach out and donate and I'm so glad Key Club has included this as a way to help out a student in need to bring awareness to the situation. - Jasmine Germany

These donations are to help out the Sinchi Family in which Kimberly Sinchi and her family's house burned down causing them to be in need because they have lost mostly everything. This was definitely a way to not only help those in need but to emphasize for those people who are going through situations worse than you. It's important to donate and be considerate of these certain situations. - Katherine Ramos

Earth Day Movie Event

I enjoyed the Earth Day movie event because it allowed me to learn more about how my actions affect climate change and how I can reduce my carbon footprint. I also enjoyed our discussion with the members about how things such as capitalism, industrialism, etc. have affected climate change. Events like these, which allow us to not only reflect on our actions but also learn from others, as essential because of the important impacts they have. - Kamaula Rowe

The Earth Day Movie Event I would say was the first step to a revival of the members to bond and connect rather than zoom chat boxes. I found that in the discord chat of the Movie Night, members conversed on the movie, AP tests, class requests, and just things going on in life. This one event lead to a week full of an active Key Club discord server where I have even found myself talking to other members while competing in discord bot games having fun! I'm so glad that I can meet new people in our school through this club, through movie night events like these. - Jasmine Germany 14

This movie was SOO good! I usually can’t focus on a movie especially if it’s virtual, but this one was different. This movie was also really touching because we live on Earth and the stuff that happens will impact us. It has taught me a lot as well and I definitely will be more open-minded when trying to help out the environment. - Maggie Lin

I chose the go to the Earth Day Movie Event because it was a great way to learn more about the planet we live on. The documentary was very inspiring and makes me feel the overwhelming urge to try and do some good for the earth. The Earth Day Movie Event was a nice interaction among the people of Key Club, as we were all in one discord call watching a documentary. The documentary itself was interesting and I learned a lot from analyzing the impacts of humans on this world. I have learned in the past that taking care of the Earth is important, but this Movie Event was a unique and fun way to learn more about the Earth together. - Nyaem Mostafa

For Earth Day, we watched David Attenborough’s Documentary: A life on our Planet. This movie/documentary really served as an eye-opener for me because it exposed me to more knowledge on the Wildlife on our planet, and the Human effect on nature. Watching this movie gave me the newfound motivation to live a greener life in order to save our planet. - Ruby Osagie 16

The Earth Day Movie Event was very enjoyable and it changed my perspective on how we should treat nature and the environment around us. I liked the movie a lot, and I'm glad I was able to watch it with Key Club as the movie was screened in great quality with minimal lag. The movie event was very informative. I never knew there was a film like this before and it opened my eyes to so many things of our environment. It was long but I do recommend it to those who are willing to sit down and see what a professional sees the environmental issues and his thoughts on it. Ecosia

This is probably my favorite event so far. I tend to google many things throughout the day that come into my head. Whether it's about a school assignment, the meaning of a word, or really random questions that I have that most people can't answer. Also love how I can look up random facts and a tree gets planted. Like searching up how to care for pet ferrets even though I don't have one and boom a tree is planted. It's great!! - Lesly Quigua

For this event, we had to use the Ecosia web browser to surf the internet and every time we searched something, they planted a tree. This was a very easy task to do as I live on google. This is one of the simpler actions/steps we can take to better our planet, and I was all for it. Because of this event, I have made Ecosia my default browser and I will be more than willing to participate in another event like this. - Ruby Osagie

Discovering the Ecosia search engine was honestly amazing; I got to plant trees from doing normal things in my everyday life! During remote learning, I have begun to rely more on the internet and searching websites. Having the Ecosia extension was a fun experience as I got to do what I'd normally do daily and help out the world as a result. - Nyaem Mostafa

I have used this program for a while because a different program I am in recommended me this to use. It did have its flaws and didn't feel right in the beginning but I got used to it and due to the censorship it has compared to google, I was able to use more resourceful and safe websites. It was nice knowing that I am helping a little at a time while using doing homework or a project. - Alyssa Choi

I chose to do the Ecosia Event because it was a great way to turn a normal google search into a tree planted. Knowing that by just simply searching up something with the extension, I could help plant a tree and contribute to creating a better environment is a good feeling. I would definitely continue using the Ecosia extension in the future because its a very good way to help restore trees on the earth - Amber Sun

With this event, you had to download the Ecosia search engine extension, and for every 10 searches, you would receive 0.5 hours. This event was remarkable, as you not only get the sense that you're helping out as the search engine helps plant trees for your searches, but it was also a great way for people to get more hours. I've continued to use this extension after reaching 200 searches, and it has served me very well. - Ezan Khan

I feel like this event is very good and attracting as it does something nice to the world by simply searching. You can do your daily needs and plant trees along with that without any interference between them. This is overall a good idea and I would definitely do this in the future. - Jonathan Zhang

The Ecosia event was very enjoyable. It was very easy to do and was for a really good cause. Often times we do not think of the impact small things can make and this event reminded me how everything can make an impact. - Gabrielle Gayle

National Alcohol Awareness Month

I've found myself researching and practicing digital designs thanks to this event. To help make posters for this, I had fun exploring fun themes to try on the Canva website but also found myself diving into websites and articles putting out good information on the posters I've created. Not only was this a fun creative event, but an event that helped teach me to teach others what to do in addictions, the signs, and where to reach out for help - Jasmine Germany

I chose to do the National Alcohol Awareness Month posters because alcohol abuse needs to be addressed and people should learn to be more aware of their alcohol intake. These posters can help remind everyone to be careful when drinking alcoholic beverages because it not only affects their health but their safety too. I would definitely want to do this event in the future not only on the topic of alcohol because making sure everyone is aware of the effects of something can help reduce the amount of harm done and allow everyone to drink safely. - Amber Sun

This is also a good event as it spreads awareness for alcohol misuse. Many people lose their lives due to alcohol affecting their body and this can help change the number of deaths. A lot of people under the influence do not mean to do what they did and this can help them improve and become sober. - Jonathan Zhang

I chose this event because national alcohol awareness month is very important to many people, addiction is a very serious thing. This is an interesting event because this event is not very talked about much. People tend to overshadow these things, but it is a very important topic that isn’t talked about. I am going to make posters promoting and informing people about National alcohol awareness month. - Noora Nizar

This event was fun as I enjoy creating posters for events that I'm interested in. It was also amusing to come up with new slogans to raise awareness about the effects of alcohol abuse. By creating these posters, I became more aware of alcohol abuse and how to prevent it, so I'm thankful for that learning experience. - Ezan Khan 26

Music Fridays + Study Session

Music Fridays and Study session is one of my favorite activities because it is a way to know about more music you normally would not listen to and hear other people's music taste. I love music and I hear it every day so, being able to listen to it and vibe while I'm doing homework is very therapeutic to me and I love it. - Katherine Ramos

Music Fridays + Study Session was super relaxing. Having everyone just chill and listen to music for an hour had everyone calm down with anxiety from upcoming AP exams. I would for sure recommend it to my friends! - Rami Kenawi

Music Fridays are one of my friends and my favorite events hosted by Key Club. These events are easy to join in and continue with daily activities as we share our tastes and music. I've found myself adding some songs to my own playlist and new artists. Some I clearly remember are "Mmh by Kai, Pretty Boy by The Neighborhood and I've been exploring new songs by Laundry Day thanks to a recommendation in the chat. - Jasmine Germany

I enjoyed our study session because I was able to learn about members' music tastes and what classes they are taking/studying for. It was nice to know that I wasn't alone in the last-minute study realm for AP exams! I hope we can have more of these events in the future and bond while also being productive :) - Kamaula Rowe

This is an amazing event as it promotes intellect and studying. This event is a good idea as you and other people can study the same topic and have fun. This is a good idea as it helps you on the AP exam as others can help you with what you don't understand. - Jonathan Zhang

I chose to go to Music Friday's event because I could finally have some time to relax and listen to music with fellow key club members. It was also a great way to bond with each other through shared music tastes and the humor in the chat. I would absolutely attend future music Fridays because these events are fun and help decrease stress from school. - Amber Sun

Music Fridays is another fun way that we, key clubbers, bond outside of our club. If you’re looking to get your homework done before the weekend, to get a quick study sesh in, or just to chill and relieve the stress of your week, this is the place. As a music junkie, this is also a good place to find new songs to add to my playlist. - Ruby Osagie

I chose this event because it is very important for your mental health to be checked. This event will be able to relieve stress. It is easier at least for me to study it when people are around me. It gives a sense of community. - Noora Nizar

The Music Friday Study Session was exactly what I needed to start to focus on the upcoming AP European History Exam. I've always had that urge to start focusing on the material one day but I just couldn't get myself to do it yet. The Music Friday was not only a fun interaction with the people in Key Club but also a nice moment for me to calm myself from the stress and focus on my upcoming exam. - Nyaem Mostafa
