Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to 2023. I've been very happy ever since Argentina won the World Cup! VAMOS! I'm excited to see what this year will bring for the future of the club. I hope all of us enjoy the time we have left together in Key Club <3 See you all soon!

President's Message

Oh Em Gee I cannot believe it's already January 2023! My journey with you guys is about to come to an end :( with approximately 3 months of my term left, I hope we can make the best out of it. I hope we can continue to have fun and definitely show up to the laser tag fundraiser

NYSOM Holiday Mania

This event consisted of the members decorating the building and was a very enjoyable experience for me. Food was not an issue as it was provided by the staff. As the parents and children arrived we were to indulge in activities like gingerbread house making and activities for the children and was a unique experience.

NYSoM Holiday Mania was my first NYSoM event ever. The commute was a little unusual that day, but we made it there relatively on time. We helped setup the games and put up holiday decorations like balloons and streamers before the event started. Some of us helped give out gifts to the community, while the others made gingerbread houses and hosted Bingo. It was a really fun event and I hope to attend the next one.

NYSoM Holiday Mania at the East Harlem Tutorial Program was such a pleasure! I was so excited to spread holiday cheer along with our club members, especially when I was able to meet other members from Brooklyn Technical, Stuyvesant, Townsend, and Bronx Science Key Club! I saw hundreds of families come in to celebrate their respective holidays! In the end, we were able to give over 400 gifts over the whole event!! I'm so glad I could be a part of this, and I hope I could help out more!

The NYSoM Holiday Mania was a really fun event where key club members got to give out toys to young ones and help manage stations where the kids can have fun, dress up, and set up games. I chose this event because it was similar to the NYSoM events in the past and I've had a lot of fun in those types of events, so I decided to continue going to these NYSoM events. What made it so interesting was seeing the smiles on the kid's faces when we gave out the presents and help setting up the place. Overall, really fun event.

This year we were finally able to do something. I had a blast inflating balloons and setting up the event. I consider this event as one of the best events in December.

Swap N' Shop

The Swap N' Shop was so fun. I enjoyed setting up the teachers cafeteria for students and faculty to come and shop for new items. The amount of materials, clothes, books, and jewelry people have donated is phenomenal. I love how people came together to help those who couldn't afford things like jackets and coats as they were being sold for $1.

The Swap N' Shop was a great success yet again. The shop was filled with some many interesting donated items and clothes like a garage sale. I volunteered a few of my mornings and free periods and was able to help out a lot with the initial setup. What was great about this year's Swap N' Shop was that I got a tabletop pool table almost for free. I would love to see Swap N' Shop come back soon, hopefully before the school year ends.

The Swap N' Shop location was better this year as the teachers' lounge is a better room for students to pass by compared to the small gym. The cleanup after the swap n shop was over was also easier as the storage room was also closer. Overall the event this year was better planned and gave volunteers an easier time with cleaning up.

It was my second year helping at the Swap N' Shop. I enjoyed setting up this event with my friends. It was fun to see all the stuff the Cardozo community have brought in to swap.

I helped set up for the Swap N' Shop event in the morning. We carried items that were going to be available on sale to the designated room. It was enjoyable being able to help out for an event that encourages giving back to the community and reduces the amount of items that go unused.

I really enjoyed the Swap N' Shop. I was able to get rid of some things that I kept at home and was able to buy/exchange it for something else. It was really interesting to see what items people didn't need/want anymore for exchange of my items.

the clothes and really provided me with a better alternative, it's very easy to participate in and was a pretty good opportunity for hours.

The Winter Clothing Drive was an event where we would give any sweaters, jackets, scarves, or gloves we had to Sherry. She and the Key Club board would then donate the clothing to the community. I thought this was a great opportunity to be more involved with Key Club by contributing to the Winter Clothing

This event is to donate clothes to people who need them. I choose this event because I had clothes laying

Christmas Movie Night: Home Alone

This event was hanging out over zoom to spread the holiday spirit by watching the movie Home Alone: Lost in New York. I chose to participate in this event because I felt it was a way to bond with the members, get to know them better, and enjoy the start of the winter break. The movie also brought back hidden nostalgia I didn't even know I had. I enjoyed watching it with my fellow members to the fullest, and I hope to participate in more events like these.

I love movie nights with Key Club. I remember attending all of these movie nights as a member and having fun. For this event, we watched a classic Christmas movie, Home Alone 2. It was really fun to watch with everyone and we had a good laugh out of it. What I found interesting was the fact that there was more that followed like Home Alone 3 and Home Alone 4. I am definitely looking forward to the next movie night in the future.

During this virtual event, we got to watch Home Alone 2. I've never watched it, so I thought it was a cool event to attend. The movie overall was great, with a lot of funny and intense scenes and it was the perfect movie to enjoy on a cold night. What made it even more fun was the "talks" we had after the movie ended which made the event even more enjoyable.

The Christmas move night was an amazing way to start my winter break. It was a really relaxing time to just watch a fun movie in bed. It was also comforting to have other people with me virtually, watching the movie at the same instead of doing it alone. I think Key Club should definitely do more movie nights regularly because there are other great movies that aren't related to Christmas, but would be fun to watch together.

The movie night was an online viewing experience of Home Alone 2. I chose the event because it was something that I could do just by sitting in front of my IPad while eating dinner and I never saw Home Alone 2 before, which was a nice bonus. Interestingly enough, after the movie, the Zoom call developed into something more similar to an informal FaceTime.

ANDREW TAI

I chose to attend this event because I remembered I had a lot of fun going to last year's Christmas Movie Night. Watching a movie with others makes the experience feel so much more enjoyable. It was really relaxing being able to start the winter break watching a classic movie with other Key Club members.

ALYSA TAM

I chose do do this event because I wanted to watch a movie. Usually I don’t want to watch a movie because it’s long. It was interesting how Kevin wishes to not be with his family and funny how his family forgets about him. I would definitely do another event like this because I want to watch other movies that I would probably not watch alone.

T I F F A N Y C H A N

I wanted to spend more tine with the key club family making me want to watch this movie under the warm cozy blankets. This movie helped me get into the Christmas spirit. I love watching movies with everyone as it gives a warm comfy vibe.

Our virtual Christmas Movie Night was a great time! We all enjoyed the movie, and we even had our reactions here and there during the movie. I'm happy we could spread the Christmas cheer all together with a movie like Home Alone 2!!

The movie was really interesting!! I love watching Christmas movies to get me in the mood for Christmas. I would definitely do this again it was so fun watching together with my fellow club members

Key Club Hoodie Design Contest

I participated in this event because I wanted to show how creative I can get and wanted to create something and kill time. I spent almost an hour trying to find the best designs and how I'm gonna correctly fit in all of the words, logos, and others on the two hoodies. What was interesting was how many choices and options I was able to choose in creating the hoodie designs. I would be interested in taking part in this event in the future.

I decided to participate in this event because creating a possible design for piece of clothing was something I've never done before. This contest allowed me to think creatively, drawing up different possible designs and envisioning how they would look on an actual hoodie. I had a lot of fun deciding where to position certain components and having the opportunity to create something that could end up on a hoodie.

For the Key Club Hoodie Design Contest I tried to go with a similar design from the previous years. I followed the Key Club format and submitted two designs. One design was for a hoodie and the other was a t-shirt. I wanted Key Club to keep the light blue color and added their logo on the back of the hoodie/shirt.

EMILY MAI

So for this event I designed 2 hoodies. My design didn't get chosen but I do like the one that did. I hope next year mine will get chosen.

HGingerbreadouse/Christmas Cookies

For this event, I made plain cookies with my mom. I chose this event to catch up with my mom since I couldn't bond with her as much due to schoolwork. I also found baking as a way to relieve stress and keep my mind off of certain things. The cookies did not turn out that well, however, baking is a learning process and I am determined to make a better batch over the break. I'm definitely down to participate in more events like these in the future.

I chose to do this event because it coincided with my Godmother visiting to decorate cookies with me and my sister. It was fun to get to build a train, but it was a bit irritating whenever the cookie walls would inevitably fall over. I would probably do an event like this again because it's a fun activity that I can do at home and eat afterward.

I participated in this event so I could show the club the things we made during the free time we have on Winter break. Although it wasn't a Gingerbread House or Cookies, the club said it was fine to post. My sister and I decided to make garlic bread. I would be interested to take part in this event in the future.

This event was perfect for me because I really enjoy baking. For Christmas I made a bunch of cookies to give out. I made snowman cookies and chocolate chip. I was worried about the snowman cookies not tasting good because I never made them before, but they turned out great and had a nice lemon taste.

This event was a simple way of showing your holiday spirit and getting an hour for it. I enjoyed making my gingerbread house as it was made during the NYSOM holiday mania event for the children. This simple event should be provided again in future years as it is an easy way to get an hour.

I loved baking over the holidays. My brother and I made lava cakes and they were so good. We melted chocolate using a double boiler. We ended up eating the lava cake with ice cream and we made enough for our family.

I build gingerbread houses with my family and friends. I had lots of fun building my gingerbread house. I had a great time spending time with my family and smiling and laughing with them.

My friends and I went to Manhattan and made dessert together at her house. We made a Napoleon cake and some Christmas cupcakes. This is a great time to spend time with friends.

It was fun making gingerbread house with my friends. It took me a while just to make the sides stand with the frosting. Wasn't the best looking but the experience was great.

So for this I baked brownies. They were very easy to make and I had fun. But my sister said they came out to dry.

Winter Break Responses

For this event, we had to write memorable things that happened during our winter break. I surprisingly had many great moments that I wanted to share, so I liked that Key Club had a event like this. One memorable time I mentioned was going to VR World, which was a cool experience that I always wanted to try. I shot zombies, which was scary, and practiced shooting bad guys like they do in action movies. I liked how this event was solely focused on the members' personal experiences, as a way for the board to get to know us a little better.

This was a remote event and I really enjoyed completing the prompt because I got to look back on how I got to spend time with my friends and family this break. I believe this event should be held again because it gives members a chance to look back and appreciate the last moments of the previous year. Through this event I also had a chance to reflect on 2022 in general and thought about the good things and the things I want to change for 2023.

Winter Break has not been winter breaking like all the previous years, but I definitely felt like I was able to enjoy it a bit. For this virtual event, we described how winter break was and memorable moments we had. I wrote about how I went to Manhattan and saw the city Christmas lights and the tree. I would love to see this virtual event in the future.

I decided to do this event because it gave me the opportunity to look back onto what I've done over the break. It was nice remembering all the things I got to do during the week. Writing down one of the fun things I did and sharing it reminded me taking breaks and enjoying life are just as important as working hard.

Winter Break Responses was a virtual event that allowed me to remotely talk about how my winter break was. It gave me a chance to talk about my life during a school break. Yes, I would be interested in taking part of these virtual events in the future too as they are easy and effective.

Highlighting our Winter break was really enlightening! It let me share my favorite moment from this long week of rest! I was able to see everyone's best part of their breaks, and I hope we could do this again after future breaks!

For this event, I talked about me finishing a long show and then starting a new one, having a feast with my family, and learning new recipes for cooking. I also wrote about learning new skills and a new sport, which was my most interesting part. Unfortunately, I also wrote about doing a huge amount of homework and studying for the finals as finals are coming after the break and our teachers gave us a massive amount of work.

For this event, I enjoyed the winter break to my fullest to rule out the most memorable part. It allowed me to do things I haven't done before, such as binging shows and facetiming my friends day and night. Additionally, this virtual event motivated me to do something productive and entertaining over the break. I hope to participate in more events like these in the future.

This event was about reflecting on your Winter break. I was able to describe how my break was. This was a good way to think back to how fun my break was. This also can be a good way to share how your break was with others.

For the Winter Break Responses I wrote about hanging out with my friends. I went to Manhattan with them and we had a really fun time. I went to the Harry Potter store and tried expensive, non-worth-it butterbeer.

I enjoyed the winter break while it lasted. I am grateful for all the gifts I have received from family and friends. The winter break felt shot, but I am looking forward for the next break.

I choose this event because I can write about what I did over the break. I can go back and see what happened. I had fun writing down what I did

New Year's Resolution

In contributing to this event, I made four goals for 2023. I chose this event because it was a way to reflect on 2022 and see what I lacked so I could improve in those areas. I was able to reminisce about my old memories while gathering ideas that could potentially be my goal for 2023. This event was also good for comparing and contrasting my social and academic status with 2021. I do look forward to participating in more events like these in the future.

For this event, I wrote about how I wanted to participate in more Key Club events in the New Year. I also wrote about how I want to procrastinate less on my assignment, get a better sleeping schedule, and get better grades in my class and exams. All of them are very important, especially when I want my school year to go as smoothly as possible.

A S H L E Y M A I N G
E T H A N L I U

For this event, I submitted some new years resolutions. I thought I needed some goals to keep me motivated in the new year. submitting resolutions makes me more motivated to complete them as now I feel some expectations to complete my resolutions.

It's crazy that 2023 would be my last year as a high school student. This year I want to improve my mental and physical health. I have created a list of New Years' Resolutions to follow and I hope I can achieve all the resolutions I have listed by the end of 2023 December.

I chose to participate in this event to stop procrastinating on bettering myself. By writing down what I wanted to improve on, I would have a constant reminder on what I should be doing during certain situations. It was a nice push for me to start becoming the person I want to be.

As 2022 is coming to a close, this was an ideal event to start fresh and speak our goals into existence. I loved how this event was about improving ourselves, and setting up 2023 to be a better year than before. It allows people to move forward from the past, and I would love for this to be an annual event.

For the New Years' Resolutions, I used the template that was given. I tried to think of different goals that aren't related to each other. I wrote things like being more confident and passing my regents since those are one of the things I really hope to achieve.

This event was about writing your 2023 New Years Resolution. I decided to do this activity because I though it would be a good way to start off the new year. In 2023, I would like to accomplish new goals I have set for myself. Writing your New Years Resolution can aim for a successful year. I would definitely be doing this again next year.

This event was so fun. I don’t usually make new year’s revolutions but this made me motivated to start 2023 with the right foot. I was able to make goals and strive for a great year.

This event is good because I can write what I want to happen in the new year. I can go back and see what happened. I can see if I accomplish my goals. Cool event
