Hey key club! Welcome to the beginning of the new April Newsletter! Again, I'm Andrea, your editor for this service year! April has always been a favorite month of mine and I can't believe that I can make a whole newsletter about the months and the events in it! Have a great read, and Enjoy!

Hey keyutiess!! We are back at it again with the second edition! April was a rollercoaster! It was the start of our term and I can say it was very successful! I can’t wait for May’s events cause it has the first event I ever went to: Td Bike! Hope to see y’all at all the events!!

NYSOM Easter Eggstravaganza Setup

This event seemed very fun to be by the name, I imagined all the Easter themed activities, costumes, and posters. During the event, we got to help setup and put posters around the park, move tables, etc. I had so much fun during the event, hanging out with my friends, blowing up balloons, playing some volleyball, and much more.

The NYSoM Easter Eggstravaganza Setup was a really fun event! Although it was cold and windy, I enjoyed helping setting up for the little kids that would come in later. I also met a lot of people from other schools! In the end, they served free pizza and chips which were delicious.

I loved this event so much! It really helped me get the Easter spirit on with my favorite members (cough you guys know who you are). We set up stations for people who were going to visit and celebrate Easter soon after our shifts ended. We were also rewarded with PIZZA, which meant that our hard work paid off Along with volunteering and setting up stations, we were able to play volleyball and do karaoke when taking breaks!

This event was so fun and a great way to get to collaborate with other members from different schools. We helped set up different games and stations for kids who were attending the Easter event. We all listened to music while setting up different stations and taking the 2 hour commute to and back was very worth it.

NYSOM Easter Eggstravaganza Setup

I chose this event because I had just came back from a sleepover with my best friend. She's been my friend since kinder garden so I saw her not only as a friend but family. I also have a brother but I wrote him a separate letter so he wouldn't feel bad

I did this event to show how I sometimes appreciate my siblings. Although, I absolutely despise them and their acts I was able to express my love for them since they are younger than me. The picture I did added was a picture of me and my two brothers when we were both small. I was about 7 or 8 , middle one was 4 and tiny one was 1 or 2. I love that picture of us since we were so small that time and actually got along. I would love to dome events like these since its a way to express love.

This event helped me realize how much of an impact my sister has on me daily! Sometimes, even the smallest things that I do remind me of her and I wouldn’t know what to do without her. I may bicker with my sister on a day-to-day basis but that will never cancel out the fact that I love her with my whole heart. I’d love to participate in an event like this in the future!

I love baking with my sister. Talking to her about the most random things has always been interesting. She does so much for me whether she’s making food or helping me out with errands.

KissenaCorridorPark Cleanup

I CHOSE THIS EVENT BECAUSE I LIKE THE IDEA OF DOING SOMETHING TO TRY AND HELP OUT A COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY WITH SOMETHING LIKE CLEANING. IT WAS INTERESTING BECAUSE IT WAS ORGANIZED BY COLLEGE STUDENTS AND IT WAS IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER KEY CLUBS. I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS AGAIN SO I CAN KEEP DOING THE MOST I CAN TO HELP MAKE THINGS BETTER EVEN IF JUST FOR A SMALL AREA.

IN MY OPINION, THIS EVENT WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY ENJOYABLE AND THERAPEUTIC! CLEANING UP THE PARK AND SIDEWALKS REALLY MADE ME FEEL HELPFUL TOWARD THE ENVIRONMENT AS EVERYONE AS A WHOLE FILLED UP 20+ BAGS! I THINK I WAS ABLE TO ENJOY THIS EVENT EVEN MORE BECAUSE I WAS WITH MY FRIENDS AND SPILLING TEA FROM TIME TO TIME ���� - ASHLEY MAING

KissenaCorridorPark Cleanup

THIS EVENT WAS SUPER FUN BUT AT THE SAME TIME SUPER HUMID AND SWEATY!! SINCE IT WAS RIGHT AFTER THE RAIN, EVERYTHING WAS SOGGY AND DAMP WHICH WASN'T VERY NICE. BUT THE WEATHER WAS AMAZING WHICH WAS THE PERFECT WEATHER TOHELP CLEAN THE PARK UP! SINCE WE HAD A COMPETITION GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME, OUR COMPETITIVE SPIRITS STARTED TO FIRE UP!

FOR THE KISSENA CORRIDOR PARK CLEANUP EVENT, WE MET AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE BASE FIELD TO SIGN IN. AROUND 1 PM, THE HOST TEAM WENT THROUGH A SAFETY BRIEF AND DISTRIBUTED GLOVES AND TRASH BAGS; SOON WE BEGAN THE CLEAN-UP. AT FIRST, THE PARK SEEMED QUITE CLEAN UNTIL WE SAW THE AMOUNT OF TRASH PILED UP AT THE END.

THIS EVENT HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST MEMORABLE ONE OF ALL THE EVENTS I’VE GONE TO IF I’M BEING SO REAL. THE WAY MEMBERS STILL PULLED UP ON A DAY WITH 100% PRECIPITATION

HONESTLY MADE MY HEART MELT BECAUSE IT SHOWS HOW GENUINE THEY ARE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING (BIG SHOUT OUT TO ANDREA AND CAILYN LOLL)!! SEEING THE PEOPLE RUN WITH THEIR WHOLE STRENGTH ALSO SHOWED HOW MUCH THEY CARED FOR THOSE WHO ENDURED SUCH A TERRIBLE DISEASE, AND THOSE WHO SADLY PASSED.

AT FIRST, I DECIDED TO GO BECAUSE I WAS BORED AND HAVEN'T BEEN TO A KEY CLUB EVENT IN A WHILE BUT IT WAS NICE BEING ABLE TO HANGOUT WITH PEOPLE WHILE ALSO HELPING AND GETTING SERVICE HOURS. WE EACH WERE PLACED ALONG THE RACE AND WERE GIVEN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. MY JOB WAS TO BLOCK A PATH AND POINT THE RUNNERS AWAY FROM THE DOCK. THE EVENT WAS TIRING BECAUSE WE HAD TO STAND IN THE RAIN AND GET DRENCHED BUT IT ENDED SOONER THAN I THOUGHT.

I CHOSE THIS EVENT BECAUSE I ENJOY WALKING AND RUNNING ON MY OWN TIME. AS A VOLUNTEER FOR A GOOD CAUSE OF PROMOTING THE RECOGNITION OF PANCREATIC CANCER, I WAS ABLE TO CHEER ON PARTICIPANTS. ALTHOUGH THE RAINY AND WINDY WEATHER MADE IT EVEN TOUGHER BY THE EAST RIVER OF MANHATTAN, I WOULD CONSIDER ATTENDING THIS EVENT AGAIN IF THE WEATHER IS MORE PREFERABLE.

THIS EVENT WAS PROBABLY MY MOST CHAOTIC EVENT I'VE EVER BEEN TO SO FAR. IT WAS COLD, WINDY, FREEZING, AND WET. I HAD TO HOLD UP A SIGN THAT DIRECTED RUNNERS IN THE DIRECTION THEY HAD TO GO THROUGH BUT THE SIGN KEPT ON FLYING AWAY! AND SO DID MY UMBRELLA. AND, MY JEANS, SWEATER, JACKET, AND HAIR WERE COMPLETELY DRENCHED IN RAINWATER. BY THE END OF THIS EVENT, I GAVE UP AND ACCEPTED ME GETTING WET... THE WEATHER WAS AGAINST ME THAT DAY.
