SHORT STRAND
BY CARA CONLONMy first initial thoughts of Short Strand was that is was clearly visible of the separation between the two communities.
We got off the glider on Albertbridge Road and were instantly encountered by a number of barriers. Fences, vegetation, brick walls and many more.
This particular barrier was created in 2003 by the Ballymacarrett Arts and Cultural Society in partnership with Nettlefield Primary School and St Matthews Primary School showing cross communities coming together.

Heading onto Bryson Street, we were brought face to face with the Peacewall.
As part of our project 1, working in groups, we were each to take an interesting area or aspect of the area and to focus in on that, and this was my chosen area, the peacewall.

Part 2 of project 1, we each had to select a section across a barrier connecting two similar locations on either side.
The section which I chose, I believe clearly shows the difference in the two communities.
My section is taken through Bryson Street and Beechfield Street which includes the peacewall and the Beechfield Primary School
