Greg Deatz

Since 2014, Greg Deatz has served as the Chief Operating Officer at Stark & Stark, where he oversees the administration of the Firm and works directly with the Firm’s Managing Shareholder and Management Team to ensure that the Firm sets the standard for client service, delivering results effectively, efficiently, securely, and with respect for everyone involved. He supervises the Firm's Finance, Marketing, Information Technology, Human Resources, Office Management, and Facilities functions. He works with the Managing Shareholder and his team to advise and counsel partners on business goals, marketing strategies, and profit and loss matters. Greg serves on Stark & Stark’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, where he and his colleagues meet regularly to monitor the progress of the Firm’s inclusion and diversity efforts.

Greg is extremely committed to serving his local and regional communities and volunteers much of his time to various organizations throughout the state. He has served on the Capital Area YMCA’s Y5K committee since 2015 and as the committee chair since 2018, seeing record levels of fundraising since 2020. Over the years, his community service has included serving on the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, the Board of Highland Park Education Foundation, his local Board of Education, and Main Street Highland Park, a non-profit organization dedicated to renovating the town’s downtown area, where he was awarded the “Volunteer of the Year.”

After growing up in Kentucky, Greg moved to Bergen County, NJ in 1986 and later studied at Rutgers University and Rutgers Business School, where he earned his MBA in Finance. Before joining Stark & Stark, Greg served as the Director of Operations at Hoagland Longo Moran Dunst & Doukas, LLP, having worked there for 17 years, and more recently as the Executive Director at Littleton Park Joyce Ughetta & Kelly LLP.

Greg has been a resident of Highland Park, NJ, since 2002 with his wife of over 28 years (who happens to be his high school sweetheart) and has two sons, aged 26 and 23, and a 19-year-old daughter. With whatever “free time” Greg finds, he can be found in the kitchen cooking and taking care of his 95 lb. Boxer-Bernese mix named Max (who is a fan of not just Greg’s cooking, but just about anyone ’s) and smoking meats and cheeses in his backyard to share with his friends and family. In addition to food, family, and friends, he loves to run, and he ran the NYC Marathon in 2009.

Thank you for being willing to do what it takes for our community! We are truly better and stronger together!

From all of us at the Community Dance Academy (CDA)

Terry Brown

Terry Brown is an Executive Vice-President at CBIZ, a public traded professional services advisory firm serving employers and their associates all over the state, country and world. Terry works with employers to help manage, finance, administer and communicate Employee Health and Welfare Benefit plans. Terry’s start in the insurance industry began in 1984 with New York Life. At New York Life, Terry paid major medical claims by day and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Upsala College at night and on weekends. Soon Terry moved to Underwriting and later Product Development. With ten years of Insurance Company Training as a foundation, Terry began his career in Consulting at the Meeker Sharkey Financial Group.

At Meeker Sharkey, Terry won numerous Sales and Service Awards and eventually was named a Shareholder in the privately held firm. Meeker Sharkey sold itself to Summit Bank, who in rapid succession sold itself to Fleet Bank and then Bank of America. It was during his time at Summit Bank that Terry began his Sales Management career recruiting and training many future Benefit Consultants and Sales People, whom he competes with regularly. Terry opened up successful offices in New York City, Melville, NY and Stamford, Ct. After the series of Bank mergers and changing management roles, Terry felt a huge disconnect with his clients. This disconnect led to Terry’s last job change in 2005 when Terry joined Egan, Amato & O’Connor as a Partner. In 2009, EAO sold to CBIZ. Since 2005, Terry continues to work directly with his clients to help them manage, finance, communicate and administer employee benefit plans.

Terry began work with the Greater Trenton YMCA 5k FundRaising Committee in 2017. He enjoys the work and looks forward to growing our contributions knowing the difference it makes to the children and adults in the community that Greater Trenton YMCA supports. Terry has also volunteered at Habitat for Humantiy, Head Start, Long Island Cares, Monmouth County Food Bank and Covenant House.

Terry lives in Manasquan, New Jersey with his wife Christine and Wes, the Wonder Dog. Terry is the proud father of Jessica and her husband Matt, and grandparent of Liam and Lena. Outside of his work, family and the Greater Trenton YMCA, Terry loves the New York Yankees. Terry also loves live music and the joy and self-expression it brings and always DANCES LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING.

Daughter of Roberta Hester, Grand daughter of Nellie Ann and Eugena, Great Grand Daughter of Inez, daughter in love of Eunice Elaine…. These incredible, phenomenal and sensational women have fashioned me into the women that I am today.

If you have had the pleasure to meet me… I’m told that my 1st impression is always a lasting impression.

Wife to Mr. Michael Wright of Trenton, NJ, Mother of 3 Extaordiinary Young Adults, Daryian (29) of Bordentown, Namiaya (20) Junior at Roanoke College (VA) and Sorrier of Chi Omega, Michael (16) Mercer County Rutgers Stem Ambassador and GOD mother To Laylah Marie our blossoming flower.

I must say that being a wife and mother came with no hand book but it has allowed me to love hard, show empathy, compassion and teaching life lessons to my children while thinking outside of the box of life and leaning on the heavenly Father to answer prayers while showing the way using grace. Also, by meeting the community and family where they are while showing my children how to be their most authentic you; no matter if it doesn’t look the part to others.

Outside of being a wife and mother, I have taken a role of being boots on the ground within the community of Trenton, NJ. Being active in the community for many years I’m often asked what section of Trenton did I grow up in. Coming from New Brunswick I had no clue what they were speaking of so I offered a gentle smile and soft laugh.

Boots on the Ground means doing the work instead of talking about the work. Samuel & Roberta Hester - Parents have always shown me the importance of helping others, being a good friend and just being me. Which is why I have taken on the following roles:

President of Jerzey Gurlz Social Club (NJ) as I am affectionately known as Wright On Time, why? Because I have a habit of showing up at the Wright Time, at the Wright place with the Wright information or the Wright helping hand for the job.,

Co-Owner of The Spot Soundstage, LLC a local Audio & Visual Sound Stage and Rental Space of Trenton, NJ.

Recently Voted Vice President of The Mercer County Commission on Women (NJ) where we deliberate, provide monetary donations to women run organizations that are thriving behind the scenes, making the difference in the lives of women and Peer Grant Reviewer for Mercer County

Ikigai – ancient Japanese concept which is the intersection of what you love, what you ’ re good at, what the world needs and what you can be paid for.

Japanese culture believe that leading a life at the center of these qualities gives a person a sense of purpose and a reason for living. When you know your Ikigai and understand its meaning. You’re aligned with the work you ’ ve longed to do and the work the world needs you to do.

WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER

We are facing some very difficult times as Americans and as a people. The continued struggle that people around the country, including here in our area are facing, can cause pain, anger, and frustration. Discrimination, social and economic exclusion, when left unchecked, can harm societies, peace and development.

As stewards of the Y’s mission, we know that we are “FOR ALL.” That means we work to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. The Capital Area YMCA stands with others in denouncing all forms of discrimination.

WE BELIEVE WE WILL BE PART OF THE SOLUTION

We believe that embracing equity, diversity, and inclusion as an organization is a path to intentionally create space for positive outcomes to succeed. This work requires a commitment from all of us and, at times, can seem like an insurmountable goal. BUT This is how progress will be made –Here at the Y, with you by our side.

Thank you for being an IMPORTANT part of our Y and for working together every day to ensure we are strengthening our communities FOR ALL, thus we are STRONGER TOGETHER.
