With over 20 years of experience, Bojan Djolic stands out as one of Serbia’s most accomplished tattoo artists, renowned for his mastery of realistic black and grey (BNG) tattoo styles.

Bojan’s exceptional skill and dedication have earned him a reputation for creating lifelike, detailed tattoos that capture emotion, depth, and personality with remarkable precision.

Congratulations on your awards! Can you share what inspired you to become a tattoo artist and how your journey began? My dad had tattoos and once tried to get into the industry, but it was tough back then, so it didn’t work out for him We always drew together animals, tribals, whatever came to mind. That’s where my passion started. I’ve always been drawn to the heavily tattooed look, and over time, it just became clear that this was what I wanted to do.

Your style is unique and highly praised. How would you describe your artistic approach, and what influences shape your work? I listen closely to my clients and use their ideas as a base, then build something even stronger. I aim to make each piece flow naturally with the body especially for sleeves and bigger projects. I’m also constantly influenced by other artists and always looking for new ways to grow.

What has been the most memorable tattoo project or client experience in your career so far? It’s really hard to pick one I’ve had the chance to work on so many big, meaningful pieces with amazing clients. I think the best moments are when a full sleeve is done and the client sees it all come together for the first time. That reaction never gets old.

As an award-winning artist, how do you stay motivated and continue to push the boundaries of your creativity? Seeing how fast new artists are evolving keeps me inspire it pushes me to keep improving. Conventions also motivate me a lot. There are some big shows I still wan to attend, so I keep pushing myself t reach that level.

Tattoo culture is constantly evolving. What trends or changes the industry excite you the most right now? I love how open the industry has become. Artists are sharing tips and techniques more freely now, and it’s helping everyone improve. That kind of openness is great to see and be a part of.

How do you balance the artistic side of tattooing with the technical skills required to ensure quality and safety? Black and grey realism demands both creativity and precision. I focus on clean shading, smooth gradients, and making sure every setup is 100% sterile. The technical side is what makes the art hold up and builds trust with clients.

What advice would you give to aspiring tattoo artists who want to make their mark in the industry? Work hard and study everything. Zoom in on tattoos you admire and figure out how they were done. That’s how I learned. And stay humble — even someone with less experience might show you something that improves your work.
