Core values of CFA Parents

I show respect for faculty & staff when I:

I show integrity when I:

I demonstrate resilience when I:

I model accountability when I:

model respect for the teacher in front of students. directly contact the teacher first before going to other parents and administrators when there is an issue. follow all school rules.

stand up for others and do what is right.

let my children be responsible for their own work. approach a teacher and determine facts to problem solve. model appropriate ways to approach teachers with respect. have the courage to be who I am (not conform).

show a positive face in the community, even if there are conflicts within the school.

let my child know it is okay to fail or feel bad, and learn from their mistake.

when I try to point out the positive in a situational setback that arises at school or home.

take responsibility for commitments e.g. not blaming teachers for grades, or blaming others for my actions or words take responsibility for my actions. follow school rules (carpool, uniforms, etc )

am an active member of the CFA community (volunteering, supporting the Annual Fund and attending school events)

CFA’s Mission & Values

Mission statement:

Lower School

Each year at our Lower School’s Anatomy Academy, kindergarteners don their scrubs and showcase their impressive knowledge of human anatomy to friends and family, honing research and public speaking skills.

Cape Fear Academy is a learning community committed to discovering and developing individual potential, preparing each student for success in college and life

We base every decision on our mission statement, guiding how we operate as a school and how our exceptional faculty unites with our outstanding students Below are just a few of the many examples of how we unite and its benefits on our students

Our Middle School Robotics team meets daily, collaborating on designing and building a robot. Participating in local and regional competitions fosters their problemsolving skills, teamwork, and creativity

Upper School

Each spring as our seniors receive college acceptance letters, we see results of our mission, curriculum, and faculty engagement. Our alumni report feeling prepared and confident as they embark on their college and career paths

Board of Trustees

Welcome to CFA! My name is Chris Filkry, and I serve as President of CFA’s Board of Trustees. On behalf of the entire Board, I’m delighted to welcome you to our community. The Board’s role is focused on strategic leadership rather than day-to-day operations. Our general responsibilities include:

Acting as stewards/”trustees” of CFA’s mission

Ensuring CFA’s legacy, resources, and future

Hiring / supporting the Head of School

Maintaining fiduciary oversight

Directing long-range planning

Leading fundraising and ambassadorial efforts

Modeling appropriate communication channels (The Board engages primarily with the Head of School and with parents more indirectly through strategic planning surveys.)

The Advancement Team assists in your participation in:

Communicating through social media, letters from leadership, and our weekly newsletter, the Hurricane Tracker.

Supporting Family Partnership, which provides volunteer opportunities for parents to enhance the CFA experience for all.

The Annual Fund focuses on financial support to create an exceptional experience for all members of our community.
