Grand openings: two restaurants get revived Getting a bite to eat in the Santiam Canyon will soon be even easier thanks to new management at two iconic landmark restaurants along Highway 22. The gateways to the canyon - on both the east and west ends - will soon be welcoming guests to rest and replenish.

Marion Forks Restaurant re-opens in January Who: Marion Fork Restaurant Management: Alicia Corey Boyd & Christopher Boyd Opens: January 1, 2015 Winter Hours: Mon-Thurs. 8am-3pm, Fri-Sun 8am-8pm Where: 34970 Hwy 22 above Idanha (just above Milepost 55) Phone: 503-854-3669 Marion Forks Restaurant, on the far east end of the North Santiam Canyon, has been hosting travellers though the Santiam Pass for generations. It stands out as an oasis of nourishment in the forest for hikers, skiers, horsemen, snowmobilers and road warriors alike. “I remember coming to the restaurant as a little kid. It was a treasured memory,” said new restaurateur - and new Marion Forks Restaurant owner - Alicia (Corey) Boyd. “When this opportunity came

open, it just made sense because I live right across the highway with my husband at the Marion Forks Fish Hatchery.” “It was like it was meant to be. After being in the restaurant industry for 20 years, I decided I needed that confidence to pursue my dream of running my own tourism-related business. Two things moved me forward: I earned my degree in Hospitality Management from Chemeketa, and I married my now-husband (cont’d on page 5)

The former Swiss Village becomes North Fork Crossing Who: North Fork Crossing Restaurant Management: Sean and Carolyn Creighton, Jake Gidcumb, Opens: January 10, 2015 (approximate) Hours: 6am-9pm, 7 days a week. Where: On Hwy 22 at 22935 Jennie Rd SE in Mehama. Phone: 503-900-9016 On the west end of the Highway 22 corridor in Lyons is the fully new remodelled North Fork Crossing. For many years it was known as The Swiss Village, catering to both locals and travellers with an influx of summer patrons visiting the golf course and swimming holes of the Little North Fork of the Santiam River. New restaurateur Sean Creighton has a knack for cooking, and means to put it to good use. He gained experience working in the foodservice industry, as

many do, while in college, obtaining degrees from OSU in Philosophy and Psychology. “I worked at a few different restaurants, most notably, a pizza restaurant in Vancouver, WA. . I’ve learned to make a variety of things from scratch, ranging from pastries and ice cream to smoked turkey and sushi, but my favorite item to make (and eat) is pizza,” said Creighton. His wife, Carolyn Creighton will be helping part time along with longtime friend and business partner (cont’d on page 5)

2015 is here in the Canyon! Happy New Year!!
