Paramount's Writers Mentoring Program is an eight-month program with a three-fold focus: It opens doors by providing opportunities for mentees to build and foster relationships with showrunners and network and studio executives, supports emerging writers in their efforts to improve their craft by working with executive mentors, and it helps writers hone the essential interpersonal skills necessary to break in and succeed.
The Paramount Writers Mentoring Program is not employment and there is no monetary compensation. It is, instead, a structured program of career development, support, and personal access to executives and the decision-making processes, with the goal of preparing aspiring writers for later employment opportunities in television. Aspiring diverse writers with a strong desire to write for Paramount television series are encouraged to apply. You must be 21 or older and able to work in the United States to be eligible.
All completed application materials must be received between April 1, 2024 and May 1, 2024. Any submissions received before April 1st or after May 1st, 2024 will not be considered. No hand delivered submissions will be accepted. Finalists will be notified in late September 2024 (or such later date as may be determined by Paramount). The program is scheduled to begin in October 2024 and continues through April 2025. Paramount reserves the right to adjust the program schedule as necessary.

TechCongress is happy to announce that we are hiring for a Summer 2024 Programs Intern (Paid)!
We’re looking for an undergraduate/graduate student based in the DC metropolitan area (DC, MD, VA) with an interest in learning about and improving Congress or technology policy. This is a full-time hybrid internship position, with the intern working at least one day a week in our Washington DC office. Core responsibilities include supporting the administration of the Congressional Fellowships, helping with the organization and implementation of our recruitment and orientation events, and supporting TechCongress’s editorial efforts.

Call for Papers: Black Feminist Truth Telling: Stories, Statements, and Collective Meaning Making

Global Black Thought, the official journal of the African American Intellectual History Society (AAIHS), is now accepting submissions for a special issue that traces the changes and continuity of truth telling in Black feminist thought.
Consensus is never the goal of scholarship, but Black feminist writing communities comprise critical spaces for telling what Black feminist scholar Patricia Bell-Scott refers to as “flat-footed truths.” And these truths thrive in community. In this special issue, authors will explore truth telling as a practice of Black feminism in the US and across the Black Diaspora. Specifically, this volume allows an interdisciplinary community to consider what it means to present information that is, as Bell-Scott identifies, “straightforward, unshakable, and unembellished.”

Program Format
The program spans 9 months, from mid-April through mid-December. Fellows are paired with one of the mentors above, each of whom has deep experience engaging with China The substance of the program focuses on further developing core career capacities, including communication skills, networking, goal setting, and navigating career pathways, and then working together to actively promote career advancement. It combines twice-monthly individual sessions with a mentor with monthly cohort events The program culminates with an in-person trip for the cohort to Washington DC or another relevant location where they will be joined by the previous years’ alumni.
Qualifications
Applicants should be African-Americans who have: demonstrated a commitment to elevating a China-focused career studied and/or worked abroad in Mainland China and/or Taiwan a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience a strong focus and drive to achieve his/her career goals
Mandarin Chinese language skills

DAY ONE: BE WELL
We cannot effectively love our neighbors if we do not love ourselves. Particularly in these overwhelming days, caring for your body and spirit is essential. Rest and revival are the foundation on which we build a movement.
DAY TWO: DO JUSTICE
As fascism rises, there are so many crucial issues. Often, we feel pulled in a thousand directions: Antiracism, labor rights, reproductive freedom, gun violence, climate catastrophe, queer liberation, welcoming migrants, affordable housing and more demand our attention. Leave with better policy knowledge and skills for organizing, inspired to take these gifts home with you.
DAY THREE: DREAM WILDLY
It’s not enough to condemn unjust systems, we must live into different ways of being. Every change begins with people who dare to envision something different. On our final day, we will model what it feels like to build communities that welcome everyone, exactly as we are. We’ll leave inspired to build a more perfect union for generations to come.

QTPiE Emerging Scholar Grant
In order to address the void of quantitative queer and trans scholarship in secondary and postsecondary education, this grant will provide the opportunity for an emerging scholar to collaboratively work with QTPiE to analyze quantitative data on queer and trans students. Benefits include $1500, collaborating on a summer 2024 research project with QTPiE members, presenting your findings in a national webinar, and the potential to co-author an academic manuscript.
