Rich Valley Dispersal

August 16, 2016 Following a summer drought for Southwestern Ontario, mother nature called for severe rain during the Rich Valley Jerseys Complete Dispersal. Despite the warning and the morning rain, it didn’t stop the robust crowd who attended. The sale was in capable hands with auctioneer Brent Walker and pedigree reader Norman Nabholz. Taking bids was Frank Robinson, Bobby Jarrell, Andrew VanderMeulen and Dennis Martin. First in the ring, was Rich Valley Grayson Serenity, a fresh 2-Year-Old who sold for $5,250 to Ferme Audibel, Quebec. Rich Valley GG Adalida VG-89 was the high seller of the day purchased by Rob and Julie Eby of Pleasant Nook Jerseys in Ayr, Ontario for $13,500. Alberta bound, the second high cow of the day went to Rich Valley Grandious Sade, VG-88 for $7,100, along with her daughter Rich Valley Olympian Sadie, a bred heifer selling for $3,500 to Glenda Mutrie, Thorsby, Alberta. Now finding her new home south of the border is Rich Valley Reagan Starlite Ex-92 who sold for $6,300 to the Roger Brinkmeier family in Dakota, Illinois. Joining Starlite are five other Rich Valley herdmates. The fourth highest selling animal was Rich Valley Gentry Mitzi 315. This stylish March 2016 model sold for $5,700 to Jeff Stephens of Troy, Ontario who purchased three other heifers as well. Tying at fifth spot honours were Rich Valley AJV Farrah, VG-88 who sold for $5,600 to Paullyn Jerseys of the Paul Hill family in Ayton, Ontario. The Hill’s are purchasers of Rich Valley breeding in the past and purchased Farrah’s two daughters as well as Rich Valley Grandious Vicki VG-85 for $5,400. Sharing the number five spot was Rich Valley GG Selina Ex-92 to Neil and Melanie Hunter of Hometown Jerseys in Malleytown, Ontario. Joining Selina will be seven Rich Valley herdmates including Rich Valley Verb Starbrite Ex-90 for $5,300 and Rich Valley GG Mitzi Ex 92-3E for $5,000. The sale average on 101 head was $2,983, and pairing the baby calves with their dams, the average was $3,008. Jerseys from the Rich Valley dispersal will reach Canadian soil in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario and Alberta. Some will make their way to the barns of Michigan, Illinois, Virginia, and Pennsylvania in the USA.
