ECONOMY

The smallest space wonder in our collection, ideal for veteran and first-time campers alike: With a floor plan of 9 m² the ECONOMY tent trailer houses a comfortable, sleep-ready king size bed. It has an optional annex tent that doubles the living area to 18 m², which can also be installed without the sides in nice weather.

When fully set up the CAMPWERK ECONOMY tent trailer is more spacious than an eight-metre Premium caravan – but packs down to a mere 220 cm (L) x 175 cm (W) x 30 cm (H) for the road.

Our FAMILY tent trailer offers ample space for a small family or best friends travelling together. With the optional annex tent, you can enlarge the living area of the main tent from 11 m² to 23 m² – and even section it off, for example to make a separate room for kids or guests – or the dog.

Of course, we’ve also seen to it that the 23 m² trailer tent can be pitched and packed down as quickly and easily as all other CAMPWERK models. When fully set up the CAMPWERK FAMILY tent trailer is more spacious than a 10-metre Premium caravan –but folds down to a mere 220 cm (L) x 175 cm (W) x 30 cm (H) for the road.

Healthy, comfortable, relaxing ...

Sleep is enormously valuable for us humans. We not only need this time for rest and relaxation, it’s the only way to fuel up on energy for the next day. A good sleep is crucial for our vitality and quality of life.

If you prefer a mattress that’s thicker than 10 cm, you can opt for the comfort bed set. This consists of a special Visco memory foam mattress that adapts to the shape of your body, combined with the innovative Froli spring bed system – the perfect bed for a perfect sleep.

Premium mattress

An excellent mattress is the best prerequisite for healthy sleep. Your mattress should be as individual as you are. Our premium mattress adapts optimally to the contours of your body. It’s made of pliable yet supportive cold foam that promotes the correct orthopaedic position of the spine when lying down. Through pressure relief points, the back muscles and spinal discs can relax perfectly. The unique design and high-quality materials ensure a perfect sleep environment.

Windows

All the big windows in the main and annex tent have three layers: a robust close-mesh mosquito net that keeps out even the smallest insects, a clear PVC layer that allows light to enter even in the heaviest storms and an outer canvas flap for keeping out inquisitive glances. In addition, all windows in the sleeping area can be closed from the inside, because who wants to venture out at night in their pyjamas?

Storm hood

The sleeping area is equipped with a large storm hood, which protects not only against rainy weather, but also prying glances – all while allowing constant ventilation.

We recommend our room divider for the sleeping area as a safeguard against falling and to shield you from inquisitive neighbours who may be out and about when you’re in bed already.

Extra sturdy cover

The cover is made of especially rugged, thick PVC material. A heavy-duty zip with a velcroed overlapping seam provides maximum protection against rain and dust. A clever idea: The cover is cut a bit wider to add space for additional equipment, such as camping chairs and tables, on top of the tent. This leaves more room in the trailer for other gear. There are lashing straps on the sides to securely tighten the cover before hitting the road.

Floor hatch under the bed*

So you don’t have to crawl into the trailer to reach supplies at the back, we can build in a big hinged panel underneath the bed. It lifts effortlessly on pneumatic springs and can be left open if desired.

Side opening to the trailer

If you have a trailer with side compartments, for example for dogs, you’ll be happy to hear that all CAMPWERK tent trailers have a zip opening below the bed that allows you to access the trailer from the side. Even if you don’t have a trailer with side compartments, you can use this opening on hot days for even better ventilation in the tent. And thanks to the mosquito net, it won’t let in any unwanted guests either

Annex tent floor

For those who prefer a floor in the annex tent, CAMPWERK offers a rugged PVC sheet that can be joined to the walls.

Pockets

Inside of the tent are several practical pockets that come in handy for storing items like mobile phones, books or drinking bottles.

Rain drain

To promote water drainage during heavy storms, every CAMPWERK annex tent comes equipped with a special rain drain, which is simply velcroed to the side wall of the tent. Pulling down on this point creates a small trough in the tent roof that collects the water and funnels it off in one place.

Rain protection for window rolls

To prevent water from collecting in the rolled-up window flaps, CAMPWERK equips all windows with canopies, which drain off the water and keep the window rolls dry.

Zippers

Because zip closings are constantly exposed to a lot of tension through wind forces, handling and mechanical stress, CAMPWERK uses only heavy-duty zippers. A new feature is the double overlapping seam that covers the zipper on both sides. Rainwater doesn’t stand a chance!.

Room divider for children’s room*

To give children or guests their own room, exclusively for the FAMILY tent trailer CAMPWERK offers a special room divider for the main tent. This can be used to section off a space of 220 cm x 180 cm.

PVC floor extension

The tent floor is made of a rugged PVC material that keeps the tent watertight even in severe weather conditions. We added an extra 30 cm to the floor, which is important for balancing out uneven ground.

Canopy spring rods*

The window canopies in the sleeping area can be propped up with spring rods to make rain shields –without any tent ropes.

Tailgate cover

The tailgate cover keep insects out and has a zippered flap for easy access to the tailgate, for example to reach the CAMPWERK trailer kitchen.

Extra sturdy tension poles in the roof provide additional stability, especially in very windy weather.

More living area/annex tent

If you’re not staying in one spot for long, it’s usually enough to just fold down the main tent. But if you want to settle down for a few days, you won’t want to go without the luxury of a spacious covered living area. Depending on the weather, on sunny days you can put up just the canopy to shelter from the sun, and on cool days you can add side walls to make it cosier. This gives you a complete additional room.

Faster than pitching a pop-up tent.

Setup made easy

Pull the PVC floor completely down from the trailer. Next, unzip the window and carefully tug on the cloth until the tent unfolds on its own. Some customers find it helps to push the poles up at the sides. Now all you have to do is secure the poles and your tent is all ready for you.

Annex tent

The side walls are first velcroed to the canopy and then attached on the sides with heavy-duty zippers and Velcro covers (for the best possible weather protection).

You can choose whether you want to use one or more side walls – either for protection from the wind or allround shelter if it rains.

Tip: Lay out the optional PVC ground sheet before getting started. This will keep the main tent clean and makes packing up easier.

Our recipe for camping made easy: Take one on-road trailer from a renowned German manufacturer, which is packed with premium features and perfect for camping. To this trailer add sturdy mounting hardware and a fold-down tent, and you’ve got all the ingredients for a fun road trip! Square tube drawbar or V-drawbar?

A problem thousands of trailer towers have experienced in everyday use with their rigs: You pull into a narrow street and want to turn around, so you need to be able to back up the vehicle as far as possible against the trailer. In such a situation you can only get the maximum angle with a square tube drawbar. Which is why we at CAMPWERK rely on this type of drawbar.

On the road again – and off the road too!

What to do when you’re travelling in countries with bad road conditions or if you drive an all-terrain vehicle or SUV with a coupler height that doesn’t fit standard on-road trailers? That’s easy: you choose the off-road tent trailer from CAMPWERK. Because these trailers have a convincing customised design that features a rugged, raised-up AL-KO chassis. On top of that, a custom body made of lightweight aluminium and tough stainless steel components.

Thanks to the lightweight aluminium, the off-road trailer from CAMPWERK only weighs about 300 kg when empty. So with a maximum permissible weight of 1.5 tons, that means you can load up to 1.2 tons. That should be plenty for short trips, everyday transportation needs and even major expeditions.

With its rough-tread MT tyres and solid aluminium fenders this trailer has the perfect look to go with any all-terrain vehicle or SUV. By the way, these fenders run along the entire length of the trailer and are sturdy enough to safely transport cargo such as fuel or water canisters and gas cylinders.

CAMPWERK now offers the off-road trailer in the popular BLACK-SILVER edition. The aluminium body of this model is entirely anodised in matte black, a surface compaction that’s harder than any other finish and optimally protects against corrosion. The fenders are powder-coated in the Gun Silver Metal colour shade.

Of course we also offer the off-road model in other colours. Just talk to us. To avoid having more than one set of spare tyres on board, upon request we can put the same tyres on your off-road trailer as the ones on your towing vehicle. The standard ball coupler can be replaced with a DIN or NATO towing ring.

KÜCHENWERK

Good food is balm to the soul.

CAMPWERK has invested a lot time in designing and improving its beloved camp kitchen – because as everyone knows, campsite life revolves around the kitchen. Alongside many other improvements, we’ve added some smart features to our KÜCHENWERK, such as a stainless steel hob with glass lids and a big walnut chopping block that is fitted in the side worktop.

What do you value most in your kitchen at home? Space! And that’s why the camp kitchen from CAMPWERK offers precisely that: MORE space. With just a flick of the wrist, the sturdy worktop can be extended to 1.50 m.

Qualität Made in Germany

Every part of the new KÜCHENWERK camp kitchen is made by CAMPWERK. This enables us to deliver customised models and accommodate special customer wishes. Quality to be proud of: The frame is made of aluminium with composite panels on the side, and the two-burner gas hob and sink are made of stainless steel. CAMPWERK developed this design to save on weight and increase space by nearly 38 %.

Show us what you’re made of

A brand-new addition is the huge chopping block made of walnut, which is fitted in the drop-down countertop. The blocks are custom made for us by a local carpenter.

Detachable

The KÜCHENWERK camp kitchen hooks onto the inside of the tailgate with a special bracket, making it easy to remove and do your cooking wherever you like.

By the way, the ADVENTURE rooftop tent also comes in an extra-wide version. With a mattress width of 165 cm, it’s as spacious as a regular king size bed.

Thanks to its integrated floor and fully enclosed walls, the annex tent keeps damp and rainy days where they belong: outside! Of course, having an annex tent has many benefits in nice weather too.

The annex tent comes in various sizes to accommodate all types of vehicles, from a full-size off-roader with a roof height of 2.20 metres down to a lower station wagon. Please give us your vehicle height in the comment box when placing your order.

Tip:

This car roof tent is an especially good choice if your trailer hitch is already being used by a boat trailer, horse trailer, etc.

Materials and workmanship

The tent platform has a fibreglass-reinforced thermoplastic honeycomb core. This type of material is characterised by its high bending stiffness, exceptional strength to weight ratio and flatness – perfect for on the roof of a car. The tent poles are made of anodised aluminium and tough stainless steel components. This state-of-the-art finish confers excellent corrosion resistance and a pleasant feel. The tent is made of high-grade 300 g/m² poly-cotton fabric, also known as sailcloth or canvas. This is a material masterpiece that unites the benefits of a natural fibre with those of a high-tech material. The result is a strong, breathable fabric with outstanding dimensional stability. This material, which is also used by the military, is watertight and extremely tear-resistant. All the seams are sewn with special thread that expands the first time it comes in contact with water to tighten any stitching holes in the fabric.

Will the rooftop tent fit on my car?

Our rooftop tents can be mounted on almost any vehicle. All you need are two crossbars or a roof rack. The car roof tent comes with U-bolts that make it easy to mount on your car. But mounting DIRECTLY on roof rails is not recommended, as these are too flat and the bolts could scratch the paint. So you’ll also need crossbars or a roof rack even if your car has roof rails. We’ll be happy to provide you with the right load carrier for your car.

Roof load capacity?

Most cars have a roof load capacity of between 50 –100 kg, but this is the weight your car can handle while driving! When the car is stationary the load capacity of the roof is considerably higher. So two people can sleep comfortably on the car roof without worrying about a thing!

Inner tent

Breathing, sweating and cooking produce a great deal of water vapour, which causes condensation to form on the inside walls of the tent, especially at night. To deal with this issue we developed the CAMPWERK inner tent. Just velcro it to the tent poles and presto: you’ve got a double-walled rooftop tent. The inner tent is made of 100 % cotton and has zippered openings on all sides for optimal ventilation on hot days. By the way, the CAMPWERK inner tent can also be used with similar-sized rooftop tents from other manufacturers!

Setup in just a few steps.

After removing the travel cover, pull out the telescopic ladder and carefully lever it until the rooftop tent unfolds on its own.

Now all you have to do is install the poles for the windows and the canopy and your kingdom under the stars is ready for you!

You can never have enough storage space! That’s why we designed the new storage net for the ADVENTURE rooftop tent. Inspired by the cargo holding systems in airplanes, this new and very tough storage net under the floor offers extra space for stuff like camping chairs, dog toys and laundry. The ADVENTURE storage net is a practical addition to your rooftop tent.

Overhang window

We want you to enjoy the beautiful view of nature when entering or exiting the tent as well. So in addition to the two panorama skylights, we built in an extra window in the roof overhang.

Windows to the stars

Two panorama skylights for star-gazing at night. And if you want to sleep in late, you can just close the canvas flaps on the windows.

Pockets

To make sure nothing gets lost, spacious pockets are sewn into the inside walls of the tent – perfect for your mobile phone, drinking bottle and other important stuff.

25 mm poles with cloth covers More holds more! That’s why we increased the diameter of our curved poles from 18 to 25 mm. The poles come with canvas covers that reduce condensation.

CAMPWERK boxes with lids

Your trailer offers you plenty of storage space. To help you use this space to the fullest, we provide you with sturdy Euro boxes and space-saving folding boxes with lids. These are sized to perfectly fit in the trailer and not only make packing a breeze but can also be used at the campsite for sitting on or as a small side table.

Tropical roof

Contaminants such as bird droppings or tree resin are annoying aspects of nature, as they can stain and damage your car’s paint and even your tent. That’s why we developed our tropical roof, a thin cover above the tent roof. And thanks to its silver reflective coating and special air cushion, it also prevents the sun’s heat from penetrating into the tent, for a pleasant temperature even on hot days.

Of course you can still use your beloved skylight. For easy handling, the tropical roof can stay attached during setup and pack down.

Bags

Our big storage boxes are very practical and make packing the trailer a breeze, but sometimes smaller items need to be organised separately. That’s why we offer special organiser bags, which fit perfectly in our storage boxes. Thanks to the clear plastic sides, you always have all of your items at a glance. And thanks to the integrated holders for breakables you can take real dishes with you on holiday and forget about melamine altogether.

Stainless steel load carrier

Anyone who wants to transport equipment like canoes or surfboards will love our stainless steel load carrier. You can load and secure all your bulky gear on top of it. And setting up camp will still be quick and easy – all you have to do is loosen the four splints and lift the frame off.

20 litre canister

Always carry reserves on board. A canister is a handy thing to have, especially if your road trip takes you to places where there won’t be a petrol station around every corner (unlike at home). You can use our canister for diesel, petrol or just plain water. It comes with a holder that is mounted on the side of the trailer.

Bunk beds

Our fantastic bunk beds are perfectly suited for guests and kids – designed to make maximum use of minimum space and sleep as many campers as possible. You can use them to make two single beds, bunk beds or a bench, depending on your needs. The ideal height provides sufficient head room between the bunks and the length and width of the beds make them a perfect fit for our tents. Each bed can be folded down and stowed in a compact storage bag. We also provide accessories to go with them: side pockets, organiser and mosquito net. And you can stack up to three beds on top of each other.

Bicycle rack for 2, 3 or 4 bikes

A holiday without bikes? For many campers absolutely unthinkable. That’s why we have a bicycle rack in our range that benefits the whole family. On the specially extended drawbar you can transport up to four bikes. And that’s not all: our family bicycle racks can also be mounted on the trailer hitch of your car. So whenever you’re on the road without your trailer, you can still take your bikes along!

ECOMAT 2000 Classic space heater

Hardly any other product has CAMPWERK as convinced as this small electric heater. With a heating volume of up to 60 - 80m² this Swiss heating hero keeps your tent warm and cosy without drying out the air. The secret to success is the PTC heating register of the Ecomat 2000 Classic, which produces a pleasant warmth similar to that of a tiled stove. It never gets red-hot; the temperature always stays below the flash point of paper, so there’s never a risk of fire.

Transport tube

We’ve all been there. You’re trying to load the trailer and the tent poles are constantly in your way. Good news: thanks to the transport tube from CAMPWERK, you can stow your tent poles and any other long equipment outside the trailer. And the integrated retracting plate makes it easy to pull out even the smallest parts. The transport tube is mounted across the front of the trailer.

CAMPING CHAIR

Lightweight and compact. The ideal camping chair. Can you think of anything more glorious than relaxing with your first cup of joe, surrounded by stunning nature? And even better – you’re sitting in a perfect chair from the new CAMPWERK range. The breathable back and padded armrests make this chair extremely comfortable – even if you sit in it all day. And for the hardcore bon vivants among us, the chair has an integrated cup holder. Since we’re passionate campers ourselves, we also know how much every last centimetre of space counts. So we designed these chairs with a very slim profile – for easy storage and transport. The chair sets up with a flick of the wrist, has a seat height of around 48 cm and is built to hold up to 130 kg.

Quick and easy setup.

The 180° awning offers an even bigger covered area than the SHADOW car awning, as it fans out on both sides. Our awnings and canopies are easy to mount on your car, they’re strong and stable and are designed for setup by one person. An especially practical aspect: our 180° awning self-supports during setup and pack down. A definite highlight: the aluminium telescopic pivot legs are stowed along the roof rafter and fold out with a flick of the wrist. The days when you had to manually insert each pole are long gone! And if you want to close it off, just add the side walls and your camp is pitched!

New 270° AWNING

All-round protection on every adventure

Whether sun or rain: our 270° awning provides perfect protection, covering the vehicle from the driver side all the way around to the rear. It self-supports during setup and pack down and can be easily set up by one person. The aluminium swivel hinges hold the entire structure upright while you fan out and secure the awning arms and unfold the included aluminium telescopic pivot legs, which are stowed along the roof rafter. With this 12 cm thick self-inflating air mattress you won’t ever want to leave your rooftop tent again. The two halves of the bed fit perfectly in the ADVENTURE or rooftop tents of similar construction and are velcroed to the base to prevent slipping. The high-density open-cell foam ensures optimum comfort and perfect support for a healthy, undisturbed sleep. The waterproof soft-touch sleep surface is easy to clean. And most importantly, it’s wonderfully soft and fluffy. On the practical side, you can leave the air mattress in the closed rooftop tent when you’re on the road: Just open both the valves, bend the mattress and let the air out, then close the valves again. We designed our CAMPWERK fairy lights to be robust and waterproof, with a long service life – and no frills. But more important is WHO we designed them for: namely all you camping adventurers. Our heated outdoor seat gives you a comfortable, portable cushion that you can use anywhere and anytime. You can choose between three heat settings powered by a Combo powerbank, which also has an extra port for recharging other devices. Our outdoor seat promotes a good sitting posture and has adjustable straps for adapting to individual body sizes. And when the steel elements are removed, it becomes the perfect cushion for your CAMPWERK camping chair or seat in the car.

CAMPWERK materials

The tent is made of high-grade 450 g/m² poly-cotton mix, also known as sailcloth or canvas. This is a material masterpiece that unites the benefits of a natural fibre with those of a hightech material. The result is a strong, breathable fabric with a pleasant feel and outstanding dimensional stability.

This material, which is also used by the military, is waterproof and extremely tear-resistant thanks to the ripstop nylon in the mix. Ripstop refers to fabric that is woven in a special reinforcing technique that stops small rips from spreading. 10-15 millimetre nylon threads are woven into the fabric in a crosshatch pattern, resulting in the typical appearance. Naturally our tent canvas is non-transparent.

The tent platform is a 3 x 3 cm thick stainless steel frame with a customised 1.8 cm water-resistant wooden floor that is attached with stainless steel screws. The tent frame is made of sturdy galvanised steel pipes and tough stainless steel components. This state-ofthe-art finish confers excellent corrosion resistance and a pleasant haptic.

We exclusively use thread from German industry leader Amann. The combination of cotton covering around a high-strength polyester core makes the thread particularly tear-resistant and waterproof. The first time it comes in contact with water the cotton covering expands and tightens the stitching holes in the fabric. All the seams in the roof are additionally waterproofed with a special transparent sealing strip.

Sometimes less is more

We often get asked: What about the water column? The water column of tent cloth is measured by the level of water pressure it can withstand before the water penetrates it. For cotton tents the water column is normally between 300 and 400 mm.

Our tent cloth has a water column of around 750 mm, which is high for cotton. This is absolutely adequate, as theoretically more than 75 cm of water can stand on the material before the first drops seep through. Cotton is a natural raw material that has the ability to expand when it gets wet. This provides additional sealing protection. For synthetic fabrics where no swelling occurs, the water column needs to be a lot higher (depending on the material 3,000 – 10,000 mm) to reach the same water resistance in practice.

The main advantage of cotton is that it allows moisture to escape to the outside. This enables the tent to breathe and prevents condensation from forming on the inside walls. Unlike polyester tents, where this is a constant problem. Even on dry nights, the water vapour produced by sleeping campers condenses on the walls of such tents, creating a warm and humid micro-climate inside the tent.

Cotton tents leave this moisture on the outside – where it belongs – keeping the climate inside the tent very pleasant.

Important information for towing trailers.

Can I drive 100 km/h when towing my trailer?

To allow you to drive 100 km/h with your vehicle & trailer combination in Germany, the following criteria must be met. The maximum permissible weight of the trailer may not exceed the following three values:

• max. permissible trailer load for the towing vehicle

• max. permissible weight of the towing vehicle

• sum of 1.1 x unladen weight of the towing vehicle

What does this mean for our trailers?

The unbraked on-road tent trailer may be towed at 100 km/h if your vehicle has ABS, an unladen weight of at least 2,500 kg and if the max. permissible trailer load of the towing vehicle is at least 750 kg, as indicated in field O.2 of your vehicle registration document.

If the values don’t match we offer you the option of down-plating the max. operating weight of your trailer during production, certified by TÜV. In this case the max. permissible weight indicated in the vehicle registration document is reduced by the missing value.

Can I tow these trailers with a category B driving licence?

Any licenced driver may tow the unbraked on-road tent trailer with a max. permissible weight of 750 kg.

The braked on-road tent trailer with 1,300 kg max. permissible weight may be towed if the max. permissible weight (field F.1) is indicated as not exceeding 2,200 kg.

NEW 2013

Since 2013, holders of a category B driving licence may drive a car & trailer combination with a max. permissible weight of 4,250 kg with a so-called extended B96 licence.

The prerequisite for this licence is at least 7 hours of driving lessons, with a theoretical and practical part, but no examination. With the B96 licence you can drive a towing vehicle with a max. permissible weight of 2,950 kg (field F.1).

If the values don’t match you’ll require a category BE driving licence OR we can down-plate your trailer to the max. operating weight you require.

The braked on-road tent trailer may be towed at 100 km/h if your vehicle has ABS, an unladen weight of at least 1,182 kg and if the max. permissible trailer load of the towing vehicle is at least 1,300 kg, as indicated in field O.1 of your vehicle registration document.

The braked off-road tent trailer may be towed at 100 km/h, if your vehicle has ABS, an unladen weight of at least 1,364 kg and if the max. permissible trailer load of the towing vehicle is at least 1,500 kg, as indicated in field O.1 of your vehicle registration document.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the trailer even when I’m not on holiday? Of course, our trailers are perfectly suited for all types of transport.

Can I pack additional camping equipment under the travel cover?

Yes, as long as it’s nothing heavy. We pack all kinds of extra camping accessories on top of our tent: lightweight camping tables & chairs, folding dog crate etc. And for precisely this reason the tarp is cut a bit wider and has pull straps so you can tighten it before hitting the road.

Is the kitchen detachable?

Yes, the kitchen is hooked on to the tailgate of the trailer with a special bracket. If you need to transport long objects, you can unhook the kitchen with just a flick of the wrist.

By the way, this kitchen also cuts a fine figure in the garden or on the terrace beside the grill, when you’re not on holiday.

Can I pack the tent down when it’s wet from the rain?

Yes, of course. Close all the doors and windows and fold the trailer tent together. You can leave the tent packed wet for a few days, but by the third day at the latest it should be unfolded to dry.

Can I tow the trailer with a small car?

Thanks to their low unladen weight, our trailers can be towed by many compact cars, such as the VW Polo, Smart and even some quads, ATVs and trikes. Just check field F.O1 in your vehicle registration document. If it says 400 kg or more, you’re CAMPWERK compatible.

Where can I park the trailer at home?

Stopping and parking tent trailers is allowed on public roads in places where it’s not explicitly prohibited by the StvO (German road traffic law) or its signs. If a parking lot is signposted with a “P”, tent trailers are allowed to park unless prohibited by other signs. The camping features of the trailer can still be used while parked. However, camping-related activities such as setting up a grill and cooking count as non-transit activities and are therefore not allowed while parked or stopping overnight.

How much weight am I allowed to tow in my tent trailer?

Our tent trailers have an unladen weight of approx. 400 kg, which means they can accommodate loads of up to 900 kg. The off-road model has a higher max. permissible weight, which gives you a loading capacity of more than one ton. You’d practically have to fill the trailer with gold bars for it to reach that limit. If that’s your plan, please let us know!

Why does CAMPWERK include only one fixed bed?

Helping our customers get the best sleep possible is very important to us. That’s why our tents have the biggest beds in the entire camping sector. As additional berths for children or guests, we offer camp beds and air mattresses. This gives you more flexibility to arrange your living space. If your kids are old enough to have their own cave and plan their own adventures, this extra space makes a nice nook, for example, for a table and chairs. In this case an additional fixed bed would just be wasted space and could at most be used for storage.

Why does the tent on the trailer seem to be a bit longer than necessary?

We purposely made the floor a bit bigger to ensure that the tent doesn’t end up hanging in the air if you have to pitch camp on uneven ground, for example in a meadow or on a slope.

What about the coupling load?

The coupling load indicates the weight that presses down on the tow hitch of your vehicle. With our tent trailers, the coupling load is about 15 kg when the trailer is empty. Today’s tow hitches usually come with a permissible coupling load of 85 to 130 kg.

The way you load the trailer is also an important factor. For example, loading more heavy items in the front than at the back will increase the coupling load. If you load more heavy items in the back than in the front, you decrease the coupling load. When it comes to driving your vehicle & trailer combination, a high coupling load is preferable to a low one, as this makes driving smoother. You can weigh your coupling load with small drawbar scales*, a premium jockey wheel with integrated scales* or just ballpark it by trying to lift the trailer by the coupler. If you manage to gather all your strength and lift it by even a few centimetres, either your coupling load is under 85 kg or your name is Schwarzenegger (in which case we’d appreciate your autograph!!!). To find out how high your permissible coupling load is, you can consult your vehicle manual or check on the coupler itself, as this information is often provided there.

There are two of us. Is the FAMILY trailer too big?

Many of our customers appreciate the incredible spaciousness of the FAMILY tent trailer. If you’re only camping somewhere for a short time, the big main tent will easily accommodate your table and chairs and you won’t need to set up the annex. And if you do stay in one spot for longer (say, three days or more) you can spread out in the annex room and enjoy the luxury of the extra space. But we would actually recommend the ECONOMY model if there are only two of you and you like spending each night in a different place. You still have the choice, but a family of five no longer does!

Does the tent require additional waterproofing?

No, our tents are given a special high-pressure impregnation treatment. However, if you clean your tent with chemical detergents, you should follow up with a waterproofing spray on those spots.

Are the tents wind-resistant?

CAMPWERK products are manufactured a 30-minute drive from the Dutch border, where it is very windy. As the Netherlands are also an important market for us, one of our top priorities is the wind resistance of our tents. Our tent cloth is reinforced with ripstop nylon (tear-resistant threads in the mix) and has a heavy fabric weight of 450 g/m², making it one of the most tearresistant fabrics on the market. In addition, instead of light aluminium that would already bend in a low wind, we prefer to rely on good old steel poles, as they offer maximum stability even in high gale forces. We can also do this because with a load capacity of up to 900 kg, weight isn’t a problem. When it comes to your safety, we’re ready to go overboard!

Securing rails

For strapping your load in tight we recommend two securing rails, which we bolt to the inside walls of the trailer. The set comes with four lashing eyelets with a tensile strength of up to 400 daN. These are adjustable and mountable at any position in the rail. Perfect for securing your cargo!

Transport tube

We’ve all been there. You’re trying to load the trailer and the tent poles are constantly in your way. The good news: thanks to the transport tube by CAMPWERK, you can stow tent poles and other long equipment outside the trailer. And with the integrated retracting plate, you can easily pull even the smallest parts out again. The transport tube is mounted across the front of the trailer.

15 cm trailer wall height increase

Our trailers are already spacious in the standard size. But if you’re one of those adventurers who need even more room, we can optionally raise the side walls of the trailer from the standard 45 cm up to 60 cm. This increases your packing volume by nearly 30 % to around 1.50 m³ (1,500 litres). Now you can easily pack bulky items such as tables and chairs in the trailer.
