Campbell Hall is a community of inquiry committed to academic excellence and to the nurturing of decent, loving, and responsible human beings.
CAMPBELL HALL MISSION
MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
As a community of inquiry, Campbell Hall is made up of courageous thinkers who dare to ask bold questions. We believe that this kind of curiosity is the foundation for learning and discovery that leads to impactful and adventurous lives.
We focus on connecting students to a larger sense of purpose by building a strong spiritual and moral foundation. This is essential to our approach to teaching and all we do at Campbell Hall—because when students feel supported, they are at their best— academically, socially, and emotionally.
Campbell Hall is also a place where students can learn more about themselves. Through our wide variety of programs, courses, and activities, students can explore their talents, discover new interests, and develop a deeper sense of identity, all while building lifelong friendships.
These are just a few of the things that set Campbell Hall apart. The remaining pages tell a bit more of our story and may even help you picture your family here. We look forward to getting to know you!
The Rev. Canon Julian Bull Head of School
sense of Finding a belonging
As an all-gender, diverse, and inclusive school, we want every student to feel seen, loved, and supported for the unique individual they are. These are the core values of our school’s mission, the principles of DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) at Campbell Hall, and the fabric of what makes our community so special. Through inclusive curricula and chapel programs, affinity organizations, and teaching practices that encourage students to honor and express themselves, we affirm the identity, dignity, worth, and belonging of every member of our community.
Beginning in 3rd grade, Campbell Hall offers affinity groups where students can connect with those who share similar identities or lived experiences. Examples include the Rainbow Club, an all-inclusive space for students who support and advocate for LGBTQ+ issues and identity, spaces for students who identify as AAPI, Armenian, Black, Jewish, and Latinx, as well as an affinity group for girls. Additionally, we promote allyship and advocacy throughout the K–12 experience, fostering a sense of solidarity within the community.
Campbell Hall is like a second family to me. It’s a safe and loving community where we all look out for each other, and we grow together as people.”

Cultivatingcommunity
Elementary and secondary school students mutually benefit from engaging in meaningful interactions in a nurturing K–12 community. While younger students have role models to inspire them, secondary school students appreciate and grow with a sense of responsibility as campus leaders. Our caring teachers guide students throughout their educational journey, providing continuity of social-emotional development as well as a strong curricular arc that ensures they are prepared for the next academic stage. Children thrive and gain self-confidence from the long-term relationships formed among students, teachers, and families in this community environment.
Parents and grandparents are also integral and valued members of our community, many of whom choose to take active roles in our Parents’ Association and Grandparents’ Committee. There are countless volunteer opportunities that give parents and grandparents a chance to make a difference in the life of the school and their child/ grandchild’s education while also forging meaningful friendships of their own.
Since day one the community has made us feel as if we are part of a large family. Everyone is so kind and the children always make a point to include one another.”

Curiosity leading the way
As a community of inquiry, we understand that questions don’t just lead to answers, they can lead to deeper meaning. Campbell Hall helps students develop a growth mindset by empowering them to ask essential questions, take risks, and contemplate outcomes—because that’s what a great education is all about. Each student’s curiosity is ignited and matched by a sequential, challenging, and engaging curriculum that is carefully designed to prepare them for each level of their educational journey. Taught by world-class faculty, instruction is differentiated to meet the needs of each learner, and important skills of collaboration and problem solving are fostered through crosscurricular, multidisciplinary projects and presentations.
Academic Philosophy Statement
Campbell Hall’s unique academic philosophy rests on the idea of spiritually integrated inquiry and community. Joyful, purposeful learning and deep relationships with others lead our students to understand the wonder of something greater than themselves. Our faculty design rigorous, meaningful, and relevant experiences that promote curiosity, engagement, connection, and self-reflection. We value depth and breadth of content, the mastery of essential skills, and the internal motivation necessary for a life of intellectual curiosity. Courageous conversations cultivate the inclusion of diverse viewpoints, and ethical reasoning guides student agency. Student choice and individualized feedback motivate problem solving and risk-taking. Students in our care apply each discipline to real-world challenges and use their experiences as a path for justice. Each child comes to recognize who they are and what they value.
CH teachers are among the top in their fields. They are passionate about their subjects and continually engage in professional development to incorporate pedagogical advances into the classroom.

Campbell Hall teachers are outstanding. I feel they really help our kids grow into wonderful human beings. The school is academically strong, but also provides a wide variety of extracurricular options for sports, art, and music to help our son become a well-rounded, kind and compassionate adult.”

foundation Building a strong academic
Elementary school students receive daily instruction in language arts, math, science, and social studies. Through research-based reading and writing programs, experienced faculty provide a thoughtful approach to literacy while meeting each student’s individual needs with a collaborative teaching model and small group instruction. The mastery of math topics through problem solving, computational skills, mental math, word problems, and pictorial solutions is emphasized through the Singapore math program, Math In Focus. Skilled teachers scaffold instruction to address the needs of individual learners, leading to abstract computation.
The elementary science and technology curricula engage children in joyful discovery that instills an appreciation of our world, develops foundational skills, and promotes critical thinking in an imaginative, child-centered learning environment that supports creativity and curiosity. Whether programming robots to dance, conducting a chemistry experiment, or designing digital art, K–6 students enjoy exciting, hands-on activities that bring learning to life in Campbell Hall’s elementary science and technology labs. The social studies
curriculum explores history through the lens of equity and social justice, creates an intentional space that celebrates identity and cultural heritages, and helps students broaden their perspectives and make connections between historical and present-day events.
Students can demonstrate and improve their academic skills through challenges such as WordMasters, Continental Math League (CML), and Campbell Hall’s annual Science Fair. They can also engage in interest-driven activities like chess and grade-level book clubs.
Through enrichment programs taught by specialist teachers, curriculum-related field trips, class plays and presentations, community service projects, and after-school activities such as dance and instrumental music, a Campbell Hall education is a platform for students to explore a wide range of interests and learn more about themselves in the process.

Connecting to
purpose
Campbell Hall is a school of faith and reason rooted in the rich tradition of Episcopal education, which means we place spiritual development at the heart of all we do. We welcome people of all faiths, and our student body’s religious identification is reflective of many traditions. Chapel is an important part of the elementary school experience during which we gather to hear stories from the world’s various religious faiths and traditions, sing songs, enjoy student performances, listen to guest speakers, celebrate birthdays and milestones, and so much more. Chapel is a warm and loving way to start the day and helps students deepen their understanding of different belief systems, strengthen values of respect for self and others, and develop authentic community connections. Parents are always welcome to attend!
In addition to our chapel program, the Nathanson-Swiger Chapel and Spiritual Center is a community space used for prayer or quiet reflection as well as mindfulness classes and weekly Parent Mindfulness Group gatherings.

Play is at the heart of childhood and through play, so much is learned. At Campbell Hall, we believe that engaging in a range of activities allows children to develop and grow interests, talents, and skills as well as find out more about who they are. That’s why, in addition to a healthy amount of time on the playground with friends, students explore a range of other types of play—from playing an instrument in music class to playing a sport to playing a part onstage. Every elementary school student engages in our robust visual and performing arts program and, with physical education every day, play on every level is integrated into the daily CH experience.
We love showcasing our students’ talent! In addition to visual art shows throughout the year, each spring elementary school student art is featured in the Campbell Hall Gallery located in the Spielberg Family Arts and Education Center. Students perform in elementary school concerts and chapels and have the opportunity to participate in schoolwide productions such as The Nutcracker and Gospel Concert. Interscholastic competitive team sports begin in 4th grade and include flag football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. Many of our teams have earned championships as our Viking athletes build skills, self-discipline, and character.

At Campbell Hall, service to others is an integral part of who we are—giving back is one way we put our values into action. At each grade level in elementary school, students engage in outreach efforts that benefit nonprofit organizations including food collection for a local pantry, toy and book drives to support vulnerable children, and the annual Outreach Gift Fair, which raises money for causes elementary school students care deeply about. Student Council is another great way for students to take an active role in the community while gaining valuable leadership skills, learning how to work collaboratively, and advocating for others.
Campbell Hall’s experiential education program beginning in 4th grade connects what students learn in the classroom to the world as they explore nature, deepen relationships with classmates, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Blue + Gold = Green
Sustainability is a top priority for Campbell Hall. From our Board-level Sustainability Committee to campus initiatives such as drought-resistant landscaping and electric vehicle charging stations to a tailor-made CH Sustainability Plan, we demonstrate our commitment to the environment every day. Elementary school students spend time in our very own garden, learning to plant, weed, and cultivate produce as they develop an appreciation for nature. When possible, the harvested produce is donated to MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity), a local nonprofit organization committed to providing essential support to vulnerable individuals and families in the community.

to grow
Situated on 15 beautifully and sustainably landscaped acres, Campbell Hall’s peaceful campus and state-of-the-art facilities serve as a backdrop for inspired learning. In addition to separate classroom buildings for the elementary school, there are dedicated spaces for our youngest students including the W. M. Keck Foundation Elementary Science Lab, technology lab, dance studio, music room, and gym. Our abundantly resourced library equips students with the tools they need to access and interpret information. And, with plenty of open spaces, courtyards, and greenery that encourage the community to spend time outdoors, our campus is the perfect place for students to grow.
With the completion of The Holiday Center, Campbell Hall will undergo a significant campus transformation. The Holiday Center will be a 55,000 sq. ft. facility featuring a new gym with seating for 900, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a healthy-eating dining hall, green central commons, a dedicated sixth-grade wing with three classrooms and courtyards, an elementary school music room, an elementary school dance studio, and so much more! The addition of The Viking Tennis Center, which includes five championship courts, underscores Campbell Hall’s commitment to athletic excellence.

Students learn best when their social and emotional needs are met. Whether reading a book with a Pal,* planting seedlings in the elementary school garden, or sharing feelings during Council Practice, Campbell Hall elementary school students create strong connections with peers and teachers that allow them to be known, supported, and loved.
The elementary school playground is like a neighborhood community, where elementary students of all ages congregate before and after school to run and play. Campbell Hall’s childcare and after-school programs offer more opportunities for students across grade levels to meet up in spaces where they share mutual interests in athletics, dance, instrumental music, acting, chess, creative writing, yoga, mindfulness, and more.
Sixth graders matriculate to our middle school without needing to reapply, so they can focus their entire elementary school experience on joyful learning. No admissions tests, no interviews, no stress.
*The Pals program connects Kindergartners with 6th graders and 1st graders with 5th graders for fun activities scheduled throughout the school year.
