The 2022-23 school year was an incredible year for CH philanthropy. In September 2023, we launched CH NEXT: The Campaign for The Viking Center, the most ambitious capital campaign in the school’s history.

The project, which includes a 55,000square-foot wellness, athletic, and academic facility, will transform campus and the educational experience of every student. Our community has supported this campaign in extraordinary ways, committing more than $17 million in 2022-23 alone.

What’s even more exciting is that the generosity of our community resulted in a record-breaking year, with donors committing over $22.5 million across all Campbell Hall priorities, including the annual fund, endowment, fundraising events, and capital campaign. This total is double the previous singleyear fundraising record for the school and is a breathtaking achievement. I am so grateful to each donor for this unprecedented level of support.

Your investment in Campbell Hall is a demonstrable show of confidence in the school’s mission and direction — a declaration that you believe in the power of a Campbell Hall education. Your support of CH NOW: The Campbell Hall Annual Fund allows us to meet the needs of the moment and, indeed, “lead the moment” by providing for the school’s daily operational functions. Your support of CH NEXT: The Campaign for The Viking Center will help us reshape the future of Campbell Hall through this remarkable building project. Both campaigns are vital to the school and our students.

The 2022-23 school year also marked my 20th anniversary as Head of School. During my tenure, I have been inspired by the generosity of our community for initiatives such as the construction of the Spielberg Family Arts and Education Center and fundraising efforts for the Legacy for Good endowment campaign. I have marveled at the tremendous resilience of our community during the pandemic as we all worked together to maintain the highest standards of learning, stay connected, and help families in need through fundraising events such as CH Cares. I’ve been impressed with the communal effort to center DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) work as we continue to build a more just and equitable community and society. No matter how the needs of the school shift and evolve, the constant is how you all show up for one another, building and growing our beloved community.

We continue to focus on raising capital for The Viking Center, and given the tremendous support the CH community has already shown through the CH NEXT campaign, I am confident that we will make history again in 2023-24 with another recordbreaking year of generosity. This will be especially meaningful as the upcoming year will mark Campbell Hall’s 80th anniversary. I hope you will join me in celebrating the incredible milestones we continue to achieve. Your partnership has been and will continue to be instrumental to every facet of the school’s growth.

The following pages are a tribute to our incredible donors whose philanthropic support helps advance Campbell Hall’s mission, for which I am deeply grateful.

We are also deeply grateful to our fellow board members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to move the school forward in many areas, including sustainability, finance, DEIJ, and so much more. Their governance and oversight are crucial to the school’s ability to provide a world-class education to students. We welcome incoming board members to their new roles and thank those whose terms of service have ended for their unwavering commitment.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our entire community for their tremendous support of Campbell Hall during the 2022-23 school year. It was the strongest fundraising year in the school’s history — a noteworthy feat that will have a lasting impact on Campbell Hall and our students.

We are excited to report that, with record applications, demand for Campell Hall’s unique brand of whole-child education has never been higher. One of the strongest draws to Campbell Hall is our sense of community, which is a testament to your involvement and commitment to the school, one another, and our kids.

Leadership also plays a crucial role in driving these accomplishments. We are grateful to Head of School Julian Bull, who, for the past 20 years, has provided a clear direction and vision for the school. We’d also like to thank retiring Chief Financial Officer Fred McNutt for his 14 years of dedicated service. During his tenure, he kept Campbell Hall thriving fiscally and, in addition to his countless duties, helped oversee two major capital campaigns. Fred is passing the baton into the safe and capable hands of new CFO Wallace Wei, whom we warmly welcome to the Campbell Hall family. We’d like to extend our appreciation to our fantastic faculty and staff whose dedication to developing our children helps create this loving ecosystem in which they flourish.

Over the past year, we hope you have enjoyed learning about our plans to build The Viking Center. This new facility invests in our students’ health, wellness, and academic education and reshapes the heart of campus to include more nature-filled open spaces. While we have hit incredible milestones in our CH NEXT fundraising efforts, thanks to the generosity of our community, we still have more to raise in order for us to break ground. We hope you join us and are as inspired as we are by those who have already committed to this transformational project.

One thing is for certain, as our campus evolves, the heart and soul of Campbell Hall will remain the same.

Just as it was at the school’s founding almost 80 years ago, we remain dedicated to providing our students with an excellent education that promotes personal and academic growth while instilling a strong moral and spiritual foundation.

It’s nice to know that some things never change.

As we concluded our first year as Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors, we were thrilled to be a part of Campbell Hall’s continued growth. Dena Johnson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BrandHUE, a brand partnership firm representing talent, companies, and brands looking to attract and reach audiences of color. Before launching BrandHUE, she was the Director of Talent Brand Partnerships at United Talent Agency and a Senior Account Executive at NBCUniversal.

She sits on Campbell Hall’s DEIJ Committee, Family Affinity Leadership Committee, and the advisory board of Black Heritage Families where she was formerly the President. She also served as the Executive Vice President of the Parents’ Association before assuming the current role of President.

Dena is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, specializing in Advertising. Dena and her husband, Devin, are proud parents to Carys ’27 and Nicholas ’31.

Emory Jones, father of Justice ’33, is the co-founder of the apparel company Paper Planes: a global premium lifestyle brand of inspiration and empowerment — allowing customers to express themselves beyond fashion.

“The Paper Plane teaches you to imagine. Once you dream, you set your intention. This is what I want, where I want to go.” Over the years, Emory has embossed his space in the culture. As a creative consultant, Emory has worked with Puma over the past decade. Notably, Emory lives by the words “Bet on Yourself.” This mindset encourages absolute self-confidence, which is incredibly important in this day and age.

Peter Kujawski is the Chairman of Focus Features, the specialty film division of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. He is a graduate of Columbia University where he also serves on the Film Advisory Committee for the School of the Arts Dean’s Council. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Peter and his wife Stefanie Azpiazu are proud parents of Violet ’31 and Colette ’34.

Kaleen Lemmon is the CEO of the Fogel Family. She received her Associate of Applied Arts degree at KD Studio in Dallas, TX. After working in commercials for many years, she moved on to music production. While on a U2 tour, she met her husband of 20 years, Arthur Fogel. They are the proud parents of Jaxson '22, Luke '23, Kane '28, Chloe, and Christian. Kaleen has served in several key roles in UNICEF, including as a member of the Speaker Series Committee of SoCal, the SoCal Board Chair, and a member of the Executive Board.

Alex Mejia

Oliver Ressler ‘10 Joshua Smith ‘94

Prior to joining Vida Ventures in 2022, Alex Mejia was the Executive Assistant to the Co-Founder and Co-CEO at Butterfly Equity where she was responsible for the daily operations of her executive.

Previously, she worked at Saban Capital Group where she started in the Private Equity team supporting two Managing Partners before moving into the Finance Department where she assisted the CFO with high-level tasks. Alex began her Executive Assistant career at California Capital Management where she worked for the CEO of this wealth management firm.

Alex is the proud mom of Alexi ’20, Sara ’23, Jessica ’25, and Rebecca ’28.

Oliver Ressler ’10 has been passionate about Campbell Hall since he stepped foot on campus in 2008. After graduating from CH, he went on to attend Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Following Georgetown, Oliver began his career in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he worked in both the Financial Institutions and Industrials groups. In 2016, he went on to pursue his entrepreneurial passions, opening and operating ’The Press Shop’, a fast-casual sandwich shop in Manhattan’s NoHo neighborhood. In 2018, he joined Courtside Ventures, an early-stage Venture Capital firm focusing on digital media, gaming, and wellness.

Oliver has been a partner at Courtside since 2020, with the firm having raised three institutional funds to date.

Oliver serves on the Board of the National Basketball Association’s Atlanta Hawks.

Joshua Smith ’94 is a thirdgeneration Angeleno and a 10-year Southern California real estate veteran. He is the Executive Vice President, Luxury Sales, and Agent Director for the Sally Forester Jones Group. Joshua graduated with a Business Administration and Creative Writing degree from the University of Southern California. He currently resides in Lake Hollywood with his wife and two children.

Fred McNutt Retiring Chief Financial Officer 14 Years of Dedicated Service Throughout his tenure, Fred helped Campbell Hall weather everything from the financial crisis of 2007-08 to the pandemic-related shutdown. He was part of a leadership team that oversaw the construction of the Spielberg Family Arts and Education Center, which not only transformed the performing arts program but the campus itself, enhancing students' educational opportunities. Along with the Board of Directors and Advancement team, he helped grow the school's endowment which is critical to the school's future. Year after year, he helped ensure the financial health of Campbell Hall, making the school a fiscally sound institution.

During his tenure, in addition to managing the Business Office, which handles accounting, payroll, and Human Resources, Fred oversaw the Operations, Facilities, and Technology Departments as well as the Health Center. He negotiated countless contracts on behalf of the school, everything from working with vendors on experiential education trips to benefit providers to keep costs as low as possible to contractors for significant school improvements. Fred worked with government agencies, local representatives, and our neighbors in the community to ensure that capital projects went smoothly, such as installing field lights so the school can enjoy evening games and the left turn signal on Laurel Canyon Boulevard for a safer and faster entry onto campus. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, he sought and obtained government relief, helping to keep the school running smoothly.

Fred's wife, Jeannie, was a CH volunteer and later a beloved employee for many years, helping with elementary music, visual arts, and science lab programs. All three of their children (Jon '96, Jeff '90, and Julie '86) attended Campbell Hall.

Often the success of any project or institution can be attributed to those behind the scenes. We have Fred to thank for much of Campbell Hall's success. As always, he is quick to deflect attention away from himself and instead shift the gratitude.

"I've made mistakes over the years, but Campbell Hall is a place that allows you to be human," he said. "And I'm forever grateful for that."

The 2022-23 school year reflected incredible growth for Campbell Hall due to the generosity of our community, guidance from the Board of Directors and other school leadership, and a sound investment strategy.

Annual giving is a key indicator of our financial health. The remarkable contributions of $3.4 million to CH NOW: The Campbell Hall Annual Fund in 2022-23 conveyed our community’s commitment to the school and enabled us to provide for Campbell Hall’s daily operational needs.

Campbell Hall’s endowment is a key strategic asset, from which we can supplement our operating budget. In 2022-23, because of the healthy return on investments, we grew that allocation to 2% of our operating budget, the largest in the school’s history. This greatly enhances our flexibility in addressing the school’s needs and finding innovative ways to grow.

EXPENSES We are also pleased to report that $25 million has been committed to date for CH NEXT: The Campaign for The Viking Center, $17 million of which was committed in the 2022-23 school year. Combined with other fundraising efforts, this makes for the most money raised for Campbell Hall in any given year.

In my five years at Campbell Hall, I have witnessed an extraordinary and seemingly unending display of generosity from our community. The support of our school has been astounding whether during times of unprecedented challenges, such as the global pandemic, or during times of opportunity, such as the current capital campaign for The Viking Center.

I am pleased to report that the 2022-23 school year raised the bar for philanthropic giving. Total gifts and pledges exceeded $22.5 million, a new high-water mark for Campbell Hall and a testament to your belief in the school’s mission and exceptional education. We are so thankful for your partnership.

As part of this remarkable total, our community gave over $3.4 million for CH NOW: The Campbell Hall Annual Fund, making it the second-highest annual giving campaign ever.

This support is particularly meaningful during a capital campaign where so much of our attention is focused on investing in campus infrastructure. CH NOW is vital to sustaining the school’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that Campbell Hall can maintain and grow the programs and resources that our students and faculty rely on.

Generous donors also added over $600,000 to the school’s endowment, which is crucial to the school’s long-term

financial health and sustainability. This includes a wonderful gift from a Board member and his family to provide ongoing underwriting support for EDIF (Elementary Diversity and Inclusion Fund), an important part of the financial aid program.

Finally, more than $17 million in gifts and pledges were designated to CH NEXT: The Campaign for The Viking Center, a project that will elevate the Campbell Hall student experience with exciting new opportunities in wellness, athletics, and education. We are so grateful to every donor for helping the school realize this incredible vision. We have also received the largest charitable commitment in the school's history to support The Viking Center, a gift as transformative as the project itself.

We have made tremendous strides towards our CH NEXT fundraising goal and, among so much generosity, garnered seven donations of $1 million or more. And while the success of such large campaigns hinges on transformational giving, an organization’s support base is perhaps the most substantial vote of confidence for its work, impact, and overall direction.

I am thrilled to announce that, in the 2022-23 school year, our total number of donors rose to 1,398, a significant increase over the year prior. That total reflects growth in the number of parent and alum supporters.

On behalf of the school, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for your support. Your philanthropic contributions power the school, shaping and inspiring the next generation of leaders who, as decent, loving, and responsible human beings, will positively impact the world.

With the completion of The Viking Center scheduled for 2026, Campbell Hall will undergo a significant campus transformation. The Viking Center will be a 55,000 sq. ft. facility featuring a new gym with seating for 900, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an athletic training and sports medicine center, a healthy-eating dining hall, additional secondary classrooms, a dedicated 6th-grade wing with courtyards, an elementary music room, an elementary dance studio, green central commons, and so much more!

As part of the first phase of CH NEXT: The Campaign for The Viking Center, the construction of The Viking Tennis Center was recently completed. With five lighted championship tennis courts, this facility is a fitting new home for our championship tennis teams and will help the school continue to attract top-level players. Teams can practice on campus, eliminating the need to travel to off-campus courts, saving coaches and players time, and streamlining their athletic experience. Hosting games will also provide a home-court advantage, allowing more Viking fans to cheer on the tennis teams.

The Viking Tennis Center is the first step in ushering in next-level athletics at Campbell Hall, allowing our tennis players to compete at the highest level! Go Vikings!

are coming to The Viking Center Recognizing the creativity, ingenuity, and innovation within our community combined with a deep commitment to nurturing caring global citizens, Campbell Hall has set out to establish a system and space for incubating and launching mission-driven projects and programs.

As a community of inquiry, Campbell Hall has always encouraged thought-provoking questions that can lead to deeper meaning. Now, we are developing pathways that give community members agency to turn questions into ideas, and ideas into action. “Part of a complete Campbell Hall experience is being empowered to become a change-maker,” explained Associate Head of School for Community Engagement Christopher Dennis. “We want to unleash the potential in our students, faculty, and staff by giving them the support they need to actualize enterprises that make a difference in the lives of their fellow community members, whether it’s creating a new inquiry-based course or finding a creative solution to a pressing real-world issue.”

The work of the IDEA Center starts with projects aimed at tackling current challenges, whether on our campus or in the greater community.

Students, faculty, and staff interested in piloting a project will be equipped with the tools, methods, and skills needed to find and implement solutions. They will be matched with qualified faculty and community professionals who will mentor them throughout the process.

INQUIRY All good ideas start with a question.

Once fully explored, these questions can lead to solutions to real-world challenges.

DEMOCRACY Civic engagement can lead to impactful social change. Fostering a sense of duty to our neighbors, both locally and globally, is essential to building community.

EQUITY Under the umbrella of the IDEA (Inquiry, Democracy, Equity, and Agency) Center, Campbell Hall has developed a Public Partnership incubator that will support existing programs and launch new initiatives. It will support faculty, staff, and administrators as they expand and develop institutes, symposiums, speaker series, and other scholarly events, as well as give students the resources to transform their big ideas into reality.

From an operational standpoint, the IDEA Center will strive to be revenue neutral through restricted gifts, donations, and grants from foundations, as well as revenue from hosting conferences and workshops focused on inquiry and innovation for the broader community. One such event, the Centering Latinx Voices and Narratives Symposium, was run in partnership with the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture (CESLAC) at UCLA Health and Somos PSV. Campbell Hall was able to open this event to neighboring schools for a full-day symposium on the future of the Latinx community across economics, health, and diversity.

More than 40 representatives from 12 schools were in attendance, helping to fund this successful and important conference which can serve as a model for future events.

Once constructed, The Viking Center will be the new home of the IDEA Center, providing a permanent space for generating and implementing new ideas on campus and beyond. This spirit of progress and collaboration is in true Campbell Hall fashion as we work together for a better future, not just for our beloved CH community but for our extended community as well.

At the heart of positive change is a dedication to fairness and justice. Centering equity ensures that we meet the unique needs of individuals and groups.

Having seen how much our grandchildren benefit from their Campbell Hall education, we wanted to show our gratitude to the school.” — Cathy Berger

From the moment they stepped on campus, Cathy and Sheldon Berger, grandparents to Emma B. ‘25 and Griffin B. ‘27, knew Campbell Hall was a special place. “Head of School Julian Bull gave us a tour, and as he walked us around, he knew every student’s name and greeted them with love,” said Cathy. “We are a very close family. To us, family is everything. We knew this was the right place for our grandchildren.”

This extraordinary couple is always looking for ways to support Campbell Hall. Cathy and Sheldon are members of Campbell Hall’s Legacy Society, which was created to thank and recognize generous donors whose planned gifts ensure the school's strong and sustainable financial future. “It’s one way we can support the school we love, which provides enrichment for so many children in so many ways,” noted Cathy.

Cathy and Sheldon are active volunteers as part of the Grandparents’ Committee. Whether handing out cookies to secondary students on “Cookie Day,” providing tasty desserts for faculty and staff appreciation lunches, taking part in the Parent Mindfulness Group, attending performances and games their grandchildren are involved with, or participating in Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day, they relish the chance to be part of the bustling campus life. From this vantage point, they see how their grandchildren thrive.

Cathy and Sheldon were inspired to participate in CH NEXT: The Campaign for The Viking Center when they learned how impactful it would be on all students' lives. “Having seen how much our grandchildren benefit from their Campbell Hall education, we wanted to show our gratitude to the school,” said Cathy. The modern classrooms, expansive gym, and improved grounds were especially appealing to them.

“We have faith in this administration, so if they think it’s important to the school, then it’s important to us,” added Sheldon. “We are so grateful for what Campbell Hall provides to all students.”

“Both of our grandchildren started CH in 6th grade, and from day one, their classmates welcomed and included them,” explained Cathy. ”Over the years, Emma and Griffin have formed great friendships that will last a lifetime.”

Sheldon added: “The supportive faculty help prepare them for life through real-world skills like public speaking and, as a result, we have seen our grandchildren gain a sense of self-assurance and confidence.”

Campbell Hall will recognize the Berger family’s generous gift to The Viking Center by naming a 6th-grade classroom in their honor. Given how special this time was in their grandchildren’s lives, it will be a fitting tribute.

When Jim Lee, comic book artist and President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, and his wife Carla decided to move from San Diego to Los Angeles so Jim could be closer to work, their first thought was to find their children a school.

As parents of nine children, Jim and Carla have had a lot of experience with a variety of schools. At one point six of their then seven children were enrolled in different schools. While this was a lot of juggling, it helped the Lee family really home in on the things that were most important to them in a school community.

From the school’s mission and ethos to how students are able to balance academics with the arts and athletics, Jim and Carla fell in love with Campbell Hall. Five of their children (River ’29, Jackson ’32, Mason ’23, Lucas ’18, and Brittany ’15) attended or are currently enrolled at CH. “We wish we were able to attend ourselves,” laughed Carla. “Campbell Hall sparks curiosity and imagination, keeping them engaged and excited about learning which is something students carry with them throughout their lives.”

“Our children have varied interests,” added Jim. “Campbell Hall has been able to support and nurture each of them as individuals. I grew up focused on academics as that was something stressed in my household. The arts were something I only dabbled with on the side. Today, the arts are a vital part of who I am. Campbell Hall allows students to fully explore and develop their talents, whatever those talents may be.”

Jim and Carla wanted to find ways to get involved in the school. Jim serves on the Board of Directors and sits on the Public Partnerships Committee. “Being on the Board has really helped me see the school’s thoughtful, transparent, and openminded approach to education. I more fully understand and appreciate their research-driven innovations like late start for the secondary students and their embrace of all cultures and religions through the chapel program and spaces such as the Nathanson-Swiger Chapel and Spiritual Center.” Carla has served as the Bagpiper’s Ball auction co-chair and has volunteered in the classroom. The couple has also hosted several Campbell Hall events at their home.

When Jim and Carla learned about the plans for The Viking Center, they were eager to support the school. “Campbell Hall is constantly growing by expanding its programs and offerings,” said Carla.

“I’m a visual person, so seeing the renderings was so exciting because to me, The Viking Center is a manifestation of this growth.” They also found that the thoughtfulness of the campus layout including the use of indoor/outdoor spaces, was extremely appealing and indicative of Campbell Hall’s commitment to fostering innovation and connection.

“We are all products of our environment,” said Jim. “The Viking Center will beautify and give a heart to the center of campus, giving students a greater sense of pride in the school.”

Jim and Carla were drawn to supporting the Elementary Arts Plaza which will be named in their family’s honor and, thanks to their generous $250,000 donation, will be a beautiful, inviting space located just off the elementary arts wing in which students can work, relax, and enjoy being together as a community in the open air. “The arts are an essential part of life,” said Jim. “This means of self-expression helps students excel in whatever profession they choose to ultimately pursue. We wanted to foster and support this important outlet by providing a space that will nurture their creative spirit.”

During the 2022-23 academic year, you were heroes! Collectively, you contributed $3.4 million to support the school’s annual giving campaign, the second-highest total in Campbell Hall’s history!

This community effort, made up of parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, members of the Board of Directors, faculty, staff, and friends of the school, is critical to Campbell Hall’s daily operating needs and makes up approximately 6% of the annual budget. CH NOW supports every aspect of a Campbell Hall education, including our outstanding academic programs, athletics, performing and visual arts, financial aid, technology, faculty professional development, campus improvements, and so much more.

In November 2022, we were thrilled to reintroduce the Campbell Hall Phonathon, the first in many years. The event was met with great enthusiasm as CH NOW parent, grandparent, and alumni volunteers called their peers to encourage them to join in supporting the school they love! A Night to Remember — On May 6, 2023, the CH community gathered at Vibiana in Downtown L.A. to celebrate the 67th annual Bagpiper’s Ball: A Night at CH Lounge. Led by Ball co-chairs Dana Garfin and Ricci DeMartino, the gala was a tremendous success raising nearly $900,000 in support of CH Financial Aid. The evening was filled with laughter and entertainment, courtesy of our hosts, Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, Roselyn Sanchez, Kyle Bornheimer, and Max Greenfield. The Campbell Scholars Program (CSP) supports underserved, high-achieving first-generation students and their families along the college and career pathway from 6th grade through college graduation.

Throughout our 10 year history, we have served over 160 families and have delivered transformative summer programs, workshops during the school year, and experiences off campus.

These experiences have forged deep and life-long relationships between scholars, mentors, and teachers. They are featured on our Instagram and have become the visual we think of when we think about our work.

information needed to navigate complex and bureaucratic systems to ensure each scholar’s welfare. Last year, we supported 48 scholars in addressing underlying issues such as learning differences, housing insecurity, and mental/physical health and wellness. Scholars received support crucial to maintaining their momentum towards academic and professional goals.

What many in our community do not know is the depth of support that is extended to each scholar and family on an individual basis. In working with scholars for 10 years, we develop intimate knowledge of each scholar and family’s situation. We aspire to build trusting relationships in which guidance, support, and collaboration flow freely. It is in those relationships that we are able to support scholars and families along the college and career pathway, one that is not easy to find, particularly in middle school and early high school.

This deep commitment to each scholar is modeled after the Campbell Hall commitment to student wellness, engaging families, and addressing the needs of the whole child. As our older scholars prepare for life after college, we continue to grow our career guidance and counseling services, including internship opportunities that provide valuable work experience that help students define their goals beyond graduation. We welcome members of the CH community to join us in providing growth opportunities for these talented and hard working scholars as they find their way to fulfilling careers.

Since the pandemic, we have seen an uptick of scholars who require more intervention and support than our programs can offer. To support these scholars, we have developed a case management approach to ensure that scholars are connected to the appropriate support services, or that families have the

What is an Endowment?

An endowment is a pool of assets, typically sourced from charitable donations, invested to grow the principal and provide additional funding for school priorities. A predetermined percentage of Campbell Hall’s endowment is disbursed each fiscal year to support the school’s operations. A strong endowment is the best way to ensure that future generations benefit from Campbell Hall’s extraordinary teachers, outstanding programs, and diverse community.

Alumni Courtyard Stone purchases provide financial aid to children of alumni whose families might not otherwise be able to afford a Campbell Hall education.

The Outgoing Alumni Board President Bernard DILLARD ’10 I am honored to have helped steer the direction of the Alumni Board over the past two years. During that time, the Alumni Board established a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice position on the Executive Board, held our inaugural and 2nd Annual Alumni Week celebrations, engaged with a recordbreaking number of alumni at events like the Thanksgiving Mixer and Alumni Reunion, as well as launched CH Connect, the Alumni Professional Network, and the CH Black Alumni Collective Endowment Fund.

Our critical work as an Alumni Board is only possible because of our 28 dedicated alumni board members, each of whom volunteers their time and contributes their talent to make each year’s alumni program more innovative and successful than the last.

We look forward to continuing the progress we have made over the years and reaching even greater heights, with our focus being on how we, as representatives of our beloved school, can make a meaningful impact not only on the lives of those affiliated with Campbell Hall but also in our greater community.

Alumni Board Scholarship Recipient Each year, the Alumni Board awards the Argyll and Thomas Clark Endowed Scholarships to deserving students who rely on financial support to participate in a full range of educational experiences. This year’s Argyll Academy Scholarship recipient utilized the $2,500 award for a school-run Art History trip to Europe to view and study some of the world’s most significant artwork up close. The recipient’s family was moved by her scholarship and writes: “…this award comes to our daughter at a moment when… her self-confidence was lacking in specific areas, and showing her vulnerability was a great exercise for her. I saw her sit down and write something ’out of the box’ that reflected the exact moment she was living, and as a result, her self-confidence improved, and she felt accomplished and thankful. Yesterday, while driving to the bus, she read the [acceptance] email out loud, and I had to control myself; I was screaming and yelling in happiness and almost made her miss the bus while showering her with kisses. This has made her change her perspective and feel like she could be a writer and go on those school trips.” — Parent of the Scholarship Recipient

Campbell Hall volunteers are the heart of our community.

We are deeply grateful for their tireless work, which helps shape the student experience. Our leadership volunteers help steer the direction of the school with their work on the Board of Directors, Alumni Board, and Parents’ Association.

Our parent volunteers help fundraise for the school with critical initiatives such as CH NOW: The Campbell Hall Annual Fund, Bagpiper’s Ball, and Party Book. They help make the school a welcoming environment through Parents’ Association committees, where they serve as hosts to incoming families, decorate the campus during the holidays, serve faculty and staff appreciation lunches, and so much more. They run family affinity groups where those who share identities or lived experiences create lasting bonds, hold joyful celebrations, and build community.

Grandparents’ Committee members are active in the life of the school, running the Bingo booth during Homecoming, lovingly distributing cookies to secondary students, reading to elementary students, and dishing up delicious desserts to faculty and staff!

Our K-12 students also get involved in helping out the community by collecting food for the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry, raising money for our sister schools in Haiti in a student-led fundraising campaign, planting native plants on campus, or helping local nonprofit organizations through activities and collections during CH Community Sunday.

We greatly appreciate every volunteer’s dedication to making Campbell Hall a special place for our community. Thank you for everything you do!

The remarkable contributions of our devoted volunteer community were celebrated at the annual Volunteer Thank You Party, held at the home of Lynn and Mike Williams.

This special event serves as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the selfless efforts and unwavering commitment demonstrated by our volunteers at Campbell Hall.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Thomas R. Von Der Ahe Volunteer of the Year Award. This esteemed recognition is bestowed upon individuals who consistently go above and beyond their responsibilities as Campbell Hall volunteers. It symbolizes the remarkable spirit of volunteerism that is the cornerstone of our school’s success, honoring and celebrating the collective goodwill and selflessness that define our community. This year’s recipients were Megan O’Rourke ’95 and Roxanne Beckford Hoge.

MEGAN O’ROURKE ’95 As an alum from the class of 1995 and proud mom of Danny ’29 and Robbie ’26, Megan has deep roots within the Campbell Hall community. She has been an active volunteer, serving as a class coordinator and/or Parents’ Association Elementary Vice President since 2013. During her tenure as Executive Vice President of the Parents’ Association during the 2020-21 school year, Megan demonstrated incredible leadership, grace, and creativity as she helped shepherd the community through some of the school’s most challenging times. Megan worked closely with Parents’ Association President Alex Grane to address the needs of the community during the pandemic.

Together, they engaged every new family via Zoom, worked tirelessly to find ways to maintain connections within the community, and devoted countless hours to keeping Campbell Hall a safe and thriving institution. As she stepped out of her role as EVP and renewed her role as Elementary Vice

President, Megan continued to exhibit exceptional leadership qualities as a vital force in the Parents’ Association. In the 2023-24 school year, she will continue her journey of outstanding service as she takes on the role of Middle School Vice President. We thank Megan for her incredible dedication to Campbell Hall.

ROXANNE BECKFORD HOGE Roxanne has been an integral part of the Campbell Hall community for over 20 years. She is the proud parent of four CH graduates: Cameron ‘16, Lila ‘19, Georgia ‘23, and April ‘23.

Over the years, Roxanne has held countless volunteer positions, from helping the school reach its fundraising goals as a Campbell Hall Annual Fund representative to helping organize the school's annual Bagpiper's Ball. However, her greatest achievement and largest impact on the school is her creation of the Campbell Hall Host Families program. For years, Roxanne has worked with the Admissions Office to pair current families with incoming families to help smooth their transition to Campbell Hall. She recognized the importance of creating a strong parent community for families in grades 7-12, where it can be more challenging to create parent bonds.

Roxanne’s formation of Host Families solidified her legacy as a vital community builder at Campbell Hall.

Roxanne is always willing to lend a hand to support students and parents and was a constant volunteer on the senior patio.

She created the Campbell Hall Facebook page for the Class of 2023 and has helped plan several parent socials. Roxanne has been a huge support to the Parents’ Association and is always eager to serve our beloved CH community. It’s impossible to imagine the Campbell Hall campus without Roxanne or one of her children. We are incredibly grateful for her years of service and will miss her dearly.
