Nine contenders for three powerhouse positions in Waikato are vying to lead Waikato and Waipā districts and Hamilton city for the next three years. To the winners the spoils will be overseeing three years of further growth as the city and urban centres grow, placing pressure on infrastructure. They will see work continue on the Waikato Expressway and planning for Southern Links. They will oversee the establishment of two new water authorities which will have a significant impact on the councils’ staffing numbers.
