CA4S ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Our journey to Oropos / Greece, started 25 years ago, when we built our Centre in Sykamino, a village nearby Oropos. All these years we wished to have the opportunity and organize an AthensArt Festival in Oropos, promoting this beautiful place of Attiki and offering a wind of international culture. The chance came when the Municipality of Oropos, and more specifically K.E.D.O., its Public Benefit Coroporation, embraced our idea and wated to organize together our this year’s AthensArt International Arts Festival, in the Municipal Conservatory. The Administration’s Council of the Centre of Arts 4 Seasons CA4S-AthensArt would like to thank everyone who helped to realize this Event, as well as our Friends who opened their houses and ateliers, guesting our Friends, from Greece and abroad that are present in Oropos. We also thank Elafos Rooms, Agro Centre and and Darius Carpets, for their sponsorships. We thank, also, our good Friends from AthensArt Designer’s Group, who prepared our Invitation-Program, Poster and e-catalogue. For 2016 and on, we have been invited from USA, Mexico, Finland, Italy, Russia, Egypt and Madagascar. Finally, we would like to invite all our Friends for 2015 to our next stop of AthensArt International Arts Festival, in Mitrofan Grekov Museum (1/9-15/9/2015) & Kamensky Pedagogical College (16/9-20/10/2015) in Rostov on Don / Russia, continuing in these troubled times, to spread our idea of FRIENDSHIP through Art that can change the World Peacefully. Litsa Marandi, CA4S-AthensArt Secretary

FOR A PEACEFUL TRANSITION TO PARTICIPATIVE DEMOCRACY “All that I know is that I am not a Marxist” Karl Marx Dearest Friends, With our presence in this historic building, our profound desire is to honour all those who, after 1933, and especially during the dictatorship (1967-1974), defended, with their own lives, the ideals of Democracy in Greece, being imprisoned in this particular building. Unfortunately, although this historic building complex, has been granted to the local authorities by the State, since 1998, it has not yet received, the necessary restoration and renewal that is required, in order to function as a contemporary Centre for Democracy and Culture, of the highest standards. We all know that Democracy was born in this country 2.500 years ago, but unluckily it has not yet been enough developed, so to inspire confidence and security to its citizens. Therefore, it is my strong belief that our duty is to strengthen Democracy, by proceeding, peacefully, from today’s tyranny of markets, to a Society of Citizens, means to a Participative Democracy. Our International Artists and Art Lovers Community, AthensArt, numbering, up to now, over 5100 members from 154 countries, and having “Friendship through Art can change the World,” as its motto, tries to fulfil this duty by organizing cultural events, for the last 36 years, in Museums, Pinacotheques, Cultural Centres and Galleries, in Greece, Europe and the entire World. The next 10 years are very crucial because still nothing has been finalized, and, it depends solely on us if Participative Democracy will finally prevail, or if we are going to be in much worse situations, where the current dictatorship of the markets will give its place to an unimaginable barbaric and fascistic society.Thank you and be strong. Prof. Dr. Takis Alexiou, CA4S-AthensArt Chairman, Oropos August 2015

APOSTOLIS ANASTASOPOULOS Apostolis Anastasopoulos was born in Athens in 1982.His first contact with photography was at his early ages, looking at his family pictures when they were refugees from Asia Minor. He always remembers a big, green box full of dust , black and white photos of people who he did not know and stories that came alive in front of him. The time has passed but the magic and flame of photography was burning and it finally won. So he decided to follow its magical light. He is a professional Wedding and Fashion photographer. He loves Art Photography so he creates his own concepts framed by his own words and thoughts like shots of his movie. He has participated in both group and solo exhibitions. He has photographed Theatrical Performances, Art Events and people from the world of art and Fashion. He has collaborated with many wellknown designers, photographing them and their creations. Something that he often says: If we observe behind every art work or every shot, we discover its creator. The photo to me is not just the depiction of reality but the capture of emotions. Photo is the expression of the moment which will not perish no matter how much time has passed.

It goes beyond mere rendering to seeing beyond the outline into a scene’s essence. It is not enough to merely paint the literal view. One needs to bring out the spirit that lies within. It is this emotionality that I am after. One image that would stand alone and tell the story. The painting must connect you to the place in the way words cannot. If I can make you feel this emotionality, then I have succeeded.

MARIO FOIS Mario Fois was born in Nuoro in 1971 where he lives and works. Since the end of the 80s, he begins operating around aerosol art and street culture. At half-90s he is one of the founders of “Kentu Concas Kentu Berrittas” an artistic movement characterized by the maximum individual freedom and an intense exhibition activity. In recent years Fois has been protagonist of various solo exhibitions, which prove his ability in using effectively different techniques and formats - moving from micro to macro without ever losing sight of the meaning of painting as a gesture of liberation. He took part to various collective and solo exhibitions in different places including MAN - the Museum of Nuoro and Berlin. His works are in public and private collections.

ANTONIO GALLUZZI Antonio Galluzzi after frequenting the academy of Belle Arti in Brera, has numerous exhibitions of his work both personal and collective. In 1993 he founded together with Franco a group called Interzone, under that pseudonym his art was wildly exposed nationally and internationally. He was able to continuously find original veins of expression that captured artistic interest. Some of their Art Video work is being aired on various important television networks. The latest research of Galluzzi, which started more than 20 years ago, has brought him to the forefront of the world of digital art. The components of his compositions have a very researched balance. His new white tones are dazzling and make a striking counterpoint with the material, his mode of expression is between fullness and emptiness, a confrontation between everything and nothing, opposites locked in an eternal conflict. Galluzzi has returned through the avant-garde use of technological instruments to an occupation with the evanescence of the material. In the confront of his art, one asks oneself what substance are the figures composed of, marble and flesh? Of fog and human skin? Of stone and smoke? But this is OUR own question, one wonders what is his. Always the material corresponds to the spirit (white and colors), so his question is perhaps, "from which substance are made the gods?". Galluzzi imagines to be close to the abyss, where all the elements that make up history live, and to break them to find the cracks in the scheme of things. His works are the howl of Godzilla.

MONICA IATROU Monica Iatrou has participated in group shows and single exhibitions since 2002 in public places, cultural centers and museums in Austria; Internationale Biennale for Contemporary Art in Florence, Broadway Gallery in SoHo, Castellon (Spanien), Castrop-Rauxel, Ruhr 2010, "Parallax Art Fair", SoHo, Berlin, Mexico, Leverkusen. Making the invisible visible is important for me in my paintings as well as in my seminars and publications. I am very inspired by human beings, but especially I put my attention on "Reverence for life" (Albert Schweitzer) as my view of daily living and in my artworks as well. I love strong colours, especially red as the blood of life, and paint in series on issues which are affecting me in my life. My paintings do not have any title, because: "The less we are determined from outside, the stronger one's perception." is my mayor concern. Usually I work with the materials oil & acrylic, coal, oilpastels on canvas, paper, wood. To get in contact with artworks takes time and those viewers perhaps discover the same thing that Milton Fletcher writes in the NY Arts Magazine about my work: "Monika Iatrou also investigates figuration and the body, but as a mode of questioning physical alienation. In her most compelling work, depicting a gaunt, angular human face with hollow eyes, she echoes a German Expressionist aesthetic, yet transcends it through a particularly postmodern perspective. Here she self-consciously emphasizes the subject-object looking relationship, making the subject (or viewer) painfully self-aware of his objectifying gaze of “the other, resulting in a reevaluation of the hegemonic structures informing the looking relationship he participates in.

PRABHINDER LALL Prabhinder Lall is a well known Painter Artist of Chandigarh that has been awarded with the Senior Fellowship (Ministry of Culture / India 2012-13) in the field of Painting (Visual Art) , for his project on the subject Environmental Art & Architecture related to Rural & Urbanism in Landscape. He has been awarded in All India Exhibition of Drawings at Chandigarh, and many others. He did his Masters in Applied Art from College of Art, Chandigarh in 1979. He has worked as a freelance Graphic Artist and held the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Fine Arts, Applied Art and Animation in Lovely Professional University, Punjab. He has participated in numerous national and international events of art, and attended prestigious art camps & workshops at national. His works are in important art collections and museums. My journey as a painter spans over 3 decades, my mediums range between the humble pencil and the complex art programmes on the computer. The light within, pushes my forms and colours. A painting for me is a journey, at times this journey spans a few intense hours, and at others it spreads over absorbing and involved few days, and then is born the painting-a product of my intensity, my play with colours, light, drawing instruments and depth. The day fades into night and night mingles into day when I paint. My inspiration, my muse could be anything –a conversation, a train journey, images on the silver screen, any seemingly mundane incident can weave itself into painting, one after another. The form usually stays abstract, yet rooted in the tactile, of late the sensuous curves of the female have made way on to my canvases, lets see what crystallizes next on this art journey.

URBAN GLIMPSES

BARRY LEE Barry Lee "Childhood is not necessarily the ground your life is built upon, but rather the pedestal on which the statue of your life sits." This is an aphorism that I like to revisit frequently. Usually a child will show certain proclivities by the age of seven, and ideally will pursue a path that would capitalize on those talents. I was trained as a musician, but my natural abilities began with text and writing at a young age, then evolved into the visual arts. There is a bit of every discipline in the things I do, which are then transformed by cognition and the process of making art either as objects, or art as ideas and experiences. Marcel Duchamp said that his work had different 'departments', and that is also an apt metaphor for my own work. Some pieces are art as objects, and some are more driven by ideas. My feeling is that once the viewer can connect with art through ideas, the art experience doesn't necessarily need to rely on notions of art as vehicles for beauty or decoration, but rather suggest new ways of understanding the world. Most of my influences are post-Pollack artists: minimalists, formalists, neo-dadaists, fluxus, pop, conceptual, light-and-space artists such as Robert Irwin and James Turrell, neo-geo, anything of modernist abstraction.

IOANNA NIKOLARAKI Ioanna’s Nikolaraki first “teacher” Irini Karaleka, when they both were twelve years old, at some point taught her drawing, painting and especially loving oil colors, brushes oil and soft pastel, color pencils, acrylics and first of all painting! Attempts here and there during the years, become reality with Jane Cote, teaching her the wonderful world of watercolors. She continues lessons with Mariela Konstantinidou who taught her new techniques and materials. Born in Egypt, a trip starting from Port Said and from port to port with countless stations and lighthouses in her life the colors, sights and sounds of the busy port and fishing fleet could only inspired her. Since her childhood in a harbor, staring commercial vessels passing through Suez Canal, with grandfather Yianni (captain), godfather Vassilis and uncle Dinos (naval engineers) and of course her father, Costas (shipbuilder) who as taking along with him to the shipyard of Suez –where he was working – his three daughters, she was capturing images and moments until later on she could transfer every small detail on the canvas. Harbors, lighthouses, anchors… rust… bicycles, doors etc., things to tie and release… These early experiences were to have a decisive influence on her later artistic expression… in order to travel to magical places.

GABRIELA Z. PICKETT-MOSIER Gabriela Z. Pickett-Mosier is a native of Mexico City (March 20, 1969). Coming from a long line of artists, she studied art at Wright State University in the United States. Her life is full of experiences that have allowed her to develop her talent as an artist. Being born in Mexico she developed a fondness for what most people would label as morbid images. The horrendous reality of war and political instability that Mexicans endured from 1810 to the late1930’s inspired many great artists. When Gabriela paints or creates sculptures she uses a fusion of influences from her native country, drawing on the influence of Jose Maria Velasco and his landscapes, Posada and his morbid sense of humor, Diego Rivera and his desire to show us the harsh reality of life experienced by the Mexican peasants oppressed by corrupt governments, and Frieda Kahlo, who painted from the heart communicating a sense of physical and psychological anguish. Gabriela aims at raising awareness regarding the living conditions of the Mexican indigenous people who have been marginalized by economic realities and social discrimination. As an activist, Gabriela uses her art as a venue for social commentary in the hope that indigenous people are not forgotten. In an era where Zapatistas have put down their guns and use words as a weapon against tyranny, she uses her art to compliment the messages of peace and respect for human rights emanating from the jungles of Mexico. Her landscapes are memories of her childhood recorded for posterity. As urbanization takes over the Mexican landscape, Gabriela wants to show the world the beauty of Mexico’s countryside before it fades away.

AGNES BORSA-ZIRINIS Agnes Borsa-Zirinis was born in Paris / France, where I got a Master degree in Law. She lives in Greece since 1980. She came to painting in 1991 as a colorful natural following (or companion) of writing, and both are her passions as ways of expressing herself and her perception of the world and others. She loves colors, movement, and experimenting with different techniques, from water painting to oil and pigments, the wonderful diversity of materials and supports, and this is why she also learnt byzantine iconography. She had great teachers on a private basis Colette Darras (French sculptor from Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts), Pete Engelman and Pavlos Samios. Her last collection, titled “Maman les P’tits Bateaux” had quite a success online, and wherever she showed them (3 personal exhibitions in 2013, 2014 and April 2015). Painting is for me like thinking in shapes and colors, sometimes like meditating or praying, sometimes just enjoying playfully, always in a state of pure happiness.

COLLECTIVE ARTWORKS We strongly believe that Artists should be able to move from “I” to “WE”, to reduce their super Ego and to explore various possibilities of Collectivity, without any discrimination between professionals and amateurs, young and old etc. In this way we think that Artists will better learn the Others and by respecting them, will strengthen the message of the artworks, coming to a constructive dialogue and cultivating Friendship… We strongly believe that Artists should stop “acting” like cinema stars, and try, with all their beings, to build a better Self, in order to build a better Society. In this spirit we, some Friends from AthensArt, started from 2010 to create such works, which have been called “hemiergo”, means in English, “unfinished”. We continue this project, having in mind to exhibit all the artworks we will collect, in all participants’ cities and countries. Artists who participated in this project, are: Takis Alexiou, Theodosia Argyraki-Assariotaki, Panos Arvanitis, Tim Bennett, Eleni Berberidou, Elena Bolgova, Carlotta Castelletti, Eleni Dimopoulou, Amel Djenidi, Aggliki Drakaki, EEEE Centre, Jake Eldridge, Hengameh Farahmand Valcir Fernandes de Siqueira, Mario Fois, Boris Gatnselevich, Khairy Hirzalla, IP School, Jaspals, Masha Knyazeva, Apostolos Kyritsis, Litsa Marandi, Barbara Marcucci, Antonia Matzouka, Giota Mitsi, Natalia Mramorova, Gabriela Pickett, Helaine Sabbatini, Triada Samaras, Magdalene Theocharis, Andrej Trnkoczy, Evi Tsana, Volpi Davide Giovanni, Geert Weggen, Sabine Wurz and Sofia Zagka from: Egypt, Greece, UK, Russia, Italy, Algeria, USA, Iran, Germany, Brazil, Israel, Jordan, India, Mexico, Slovenia, Sweden and Belgium.

CHILDREN’S PAINTING Children overflow Creativity and Hope! They are our future! Here we can share children’s artworks which have a special energy. We can use this energy to be more strong to provide Peace and Friendship all over the world! Art has something that I can’t explain, but it makes everyone feels better, it makes all eyes shine! Even children who don’t know to read or write very well, can produce an especially artwork. I worked during 5 years with a little girl with cognitive problems. She change my life and my art perception. Here I will also share some of their paintings and I invite you to share your experiences with kids! Bianca Sollero, Brazil
