Our vision is for the Bensenville Park District to be an integral member of the cooperative inter-governmental group providing quality services and programming of high impact at low cost to the community. We embrace life-long learning in both recreation and leisure fostered through diverse and unique facilities. By maximizing alternative revenue sources, we are recognized for providing the highest level of services and facilities and consistently exceeding our residents’ expectations.

Dear Residents,

The park district staff and Board of Commissioners wish the best for all of your families. While things are getting better we still have challenges to overcome: the park district continues to offer programs in a safe manner according to established IDPH and CDC guidelines. As we close out 2021 and move into 2022, the park district will continue to offer more programs and services to the community. Our staff plan to offer more options in 2022 in the areas of classes, camps and special events. Programs for Winter/ Spring 2022 are being finalized and will continue to be marketed and promoted through our website, brochure, and social media. Plans for summer 2022 will include traditional and innovative program delivery. There will be an emphasis on bringing program opportunities to parks in your neighborhood. The district certainly will continue to offer a wide range of programs at the Deer Grove Leisure Center but we will also offer select opportunities out in our various park locations. Residents will be able to take a short walk to your local park to enjoy organized programs in the spirit of bringing services to you in your respective neighborhood. Some of the added services will include movies, special events and other fun things for your families. Please look for these opportunities moving forward and let us know if you may have any suggestions. The park district is planning for the future through proactive analysis, evaluation of the latest recreational trends, demographics changes and opportunities available for the best of our community. The district will continue to make improvements in our parks and facilities in 2022 in order to ensure a positive experience at the Bensenville Park District. Please feel free to reach out and offer any suggestions that may assist us in improving the park district.

- Joseph C. Vallez, Executive Director

Fischer Farm

Fischer Farm

Fischer Farm is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in the county. The family settled here in 1836 and established a dairy farm. Their success was evident by 1919 when they had the beautiful foursquare farmhouse constructed. This homestead now forms the core of the Fischer Woods Preserve. This preserve is still home to remnant prairie and wetland and provides a glimpse of what the first settlers to the area saw. The land is valued both for these original seedbeds of native plants and for its historical integrity. The nine structures are all connected to the Fischer family and remain on their original foundations. The Bensenville Park District, in cooperation with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, has been working to preserve both the homestead and the native ecosystems while promoting education and recreational opportunities at the site.

School of Dance & Movement

Dance Information

To find the best classes to choose for your athlete, classes have been broken down to specific levels for the School of Dance and Movement. You can find these listed below. During this time we are making adjustments to help prevent the spread of disease. This includes but is not limited to keeping class sizes smaller, practicing hand washing before each class, and providing at home videos and/or exercises to help prepare students for their next classes. Pre Classes: Intended for the first time athlete to learn the very basics and be introduced to the class. These classes will introduce body awareness and work on motor skills as well as offer a learn through play approach. These classes range from 2-5 year olds, depending on the particular class. Level I Classes: Introducing students to the world of dance through classes with more structure and discipline. These classes will develop body awareness and placement. As well as the key points to making a routine and skills, students will learn to develop their individual passion for the sport. Level I classes are intended for 6-9 year olds. Level II Classes: As you move your way through the School of Dance and Movement, you will learn to master your skills as well as develop more challenging ones. Level II classes will be taught at a faster pace and students are expected to show discipline and enthusiasm for the sport they are continuing. Here you begin setting an example to other dancers moving up in the program. These classes are created for 10-14 year olds. Building Block Classes: These classes are made for all levels and intended for strengthening the core classes. You may take building block classes separately, or use them to challenge yourself even more. Created for the dancer who wants to take it a step further, you will find extra practice time and an opportunity to work on your individual skills.
