Our park district is doing well, and our staff are working every day to bring limited services to our community. Our goal, like you, is to stay safe, keep you and your family safe and to attempt to provide programs safely. As we work through this difficult time, we continue to communicate with other taxing bodies regularly to coordinate our efforts and keep updated on what is happening in our community. The park district stands by our partners to make our community safe for all. We continue to offer limited programs at our Deer Grove Leisure Center and our fitness center is open for use. The golf course at White Pines is open and operating with a significant number of golfers using the facility. Our

The park district is making plans for 2021 that include all the activities you have become accustomed to, and new things that will offer an outlet for our families as we live through this time. The park district is taking a wait and see position while cautiously looking to the future. Additionally, the park district will introduce the Bville Buzz, a new outlet that will update our residents in a fun and progressive way on things going on in the park district. Special Events NEW! E-Recycling & Document Shred Event We will be doing our first ever E-Recycling and Shredding Event. Shredding will be free to Residents for the first bankers box and $5 for each additional box, Non-residents will not receive a free box and will be charged $5 per box. You can shred your sensitive documents containing personal information, such as medical history forms, bank statements, personal files, and retired tax forms. Paper documents will be shredded on-site. We will also be offering free electronic recycling. Please check our flyer closer to the start of the event for approved items to be recycled. (TL)

GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Cycling

Cycling offers a great cardiovascular, fat burning workout for all ages. Ride a stationary bike for 45 minutes to gain the benefits of core strength, stronger calves, thighs, hamstring power, upper and lower back strength. By riding in a fast-paced fun class to music targeting a total body workout. Expect to burn 500 calories in each class. All fitness levels are welcome.

CYCLE-Delic

CYCLE-Delic is the ultimate indoor cycling experience! This is a high energy class that blends your typical cycling class with the sights and sounds of a night on the town. You will cycle to music from various Techno, EDM and house music artists while party lights illuminate the room. All levels of participants are encouraged to try it out! Please bring water to class. At times the lighting in the class might have a strobing effect that may affect photosensitive participants.

Core Foundations

Seeking a healthier lifestyle? Learn simple movements to regain and develop good posture. Classes will incorporate body weight exercises as well as yoga movements to correct rounded shoulders and build bone density. Exercises will be done both on the floor and with the aid of chairs as needed.

Cardio Blast

This 45 minute class is a low impact cardio conditioning class that is easy to follow for all fitness levels. Exercises will range from floor aerobics, interval training and resistance training.

20/20/20

This class offers three segments, 20 minutes each, of different types of cardio, strength and core-based formats that change every week. Fusing together intensities and different types of exercises creates intervals and variations that shock your body into getting more fit!

TRX

Small Group Training

Group training with a personal trainer gives a more focused, individualized work-out in a small group setting. Expect to see changes in exercise routines that will keep your work-outs interesting, challenging and dynamic. Work-outs will include using weights and other strength equipment.

Zumba®

It’s the best party around! Zumba® fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked.

TRX is a form of suspension training that uses body weight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of the TRX Suspension Trainer, a performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete the exercises. Members can take this class for free.

Zumba® Toning

Zumba Low Intensity

This class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. This class is designed for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity. Ages 40+

Have you wanted to try Zumba but feel you have no rhythm or two left feet? Then this lower intensity class is for you! We will break down the songs as needed and dance our hour away.

This class shakes things up using the rhythm and fun of Zumba with added emphasis on toning and sculpting muscles. Light weights are utilized to target the arms, core and lower body during this energizing, full-body workout!

Chair Yoga

Ageless Aerobics

This class is designed for all ages. It is an easy-going class with a slow pace. Participants will use various props that include fitness balls, stretch bands, and steps. Use of light or heavy weights is optional. This class includes core and balance exercises. Ages 17+

Zumba® Kids

Kids get fit, rock out and have a blast! It’s a safe and effective fast forward fusion of the Zumba program’s moves and high octane workouts designed to let kids max out on fun and fitness at the same time. Ages 6-13

You will improve your overall health, energy level, flexibility and gain a heightened ability to deal with everyday life challenges. Learn the basic flow of yoga postures through coordination of spine and body movements. Please bring your own yoga mat.

VIRTUAL PASS FITNESS CLASSES

Can’t make it into the DGLC to take a class, then Virtual classes are the way to go! Our virtual classes will be run simultaneously with our current fitness classes! Workout alongside of DGLC fitness class members from the comfort of your own home. You will pay a $15 monthly fee to have access. You must have a Zoom account to participate in all virtual classes. Run, walk, or bike the historical Route 66!! Can you complete all 2,448 Miles? The Historic Route 66 starts right here in Downtown Chicago at East Adams Street & Michigan Avenue and travels through 8 states ending at Santa Monica Pier in California. Whether you are outside on your own or in our fitness center* you will track your mileage and send it into fitness@bvilleparks.org (Membership required). Each month we will update a map in our fitness center to track participantsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; progress. Upon completion of Route 66, each participant will receive a custom Race the Route keychain and your name posted up in our fitness center near the map for all to see! (TL) Program

Fischer Farm

Fischer Farm is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in the county. The family settled here in 1836 and established a dairy farm. Their success was evident by 1919 when they had the beautiful foursquare farmhouse constructed. This homestead now forms the core of the Fischer Woods Preserve.

This preserve is still home to remnant prairie and wetland and provides a glimpse of what the first settlers to the area saw. The land is valued both for these original seedbeds of native plants and for its historical integrity. The nine structures are all connected to the Fischer family and remain on their original foundations. The Bensenville Park District, in cooperation with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, has been working to preserve both the homestead and the native ecosystems while promoting education and recreational opportunities at the site.

Fischer Farm

RENTALS Now booking for 2021! Fischer Farm is an ideal and unique event venue, as it is one of the oldest homesteads in DuPage County. The Farm is easily accessible and provides a wonderful rustic setting for any special occasion. The grounds and structures at the farm provide the perfect backdrop for photo opportunities that will provide many years of great memories. Rental packages include the farm grounds, or the granary. Additional add-ons include a guided tour and use of the fire pit. Rentals are available from April to October. Maximum of 25 people, Covid pending. For more information, please call (630) 766-7015. This program, offered virtually on Zoom, is designed to prepare your child mentally, physically, and emotionally for making the transition to the Preschool 4’s program. Our curriculum introduces children to colors, numbers, shapes, and concepts through a variety of activities. The children explore weekly concepts and themes. Circle time features interactive songs, flannel board stories, and an interactive calendar and weather activities. School of Dance & Movement

Dance Information

To find the best classes to choose for your athlete, classes have been broken down to specific levels for the School of Dance and Movement. You can find these listed below. During this time we are making adjustments to help prevent the spread of disease. This includes but is not limited to keeping class sizes smaller, practicing hand washing before each class, and providing at home videos and/or exercises to help prepare students for their next classes. Pre Classes: Intended for the first time athlete to learn the very basics and be introduced to the class. These classes will introduce body awareness and work on motor skills as well as offer a learn through play approach. These classes range from 2-5 year olds, depending on the particular class. Level I Classes: Introducing students to the world of dance through classes with more structure and discipline. These classes will develop body awareness and placement. As well as the key points to making a routine and skills, students will learn to develop their individual passion for the sport. Level I classes are intended for 6-9 year olds. Level II Classes: As you move your way through the School of Dance and Movement, you will learn to master your skills as well as develop more challenging ones. Level II classes will be taught at a faster pace and students are expected to show discipline and enthusiasm for the sport they are continuing. Here you begin setting an example to other dancers moving up in the program. These classes are created for 10-14 year olds. Building Block Classes: These classes are made for all levels and intended for strengthening the core classes. You may take building block classes separately, or use them to challenge yourself even more. Created for the dancer who wants to take it a step further, you will find extra practice time and an opportunity to work on your individual skills.

Tumbling II

This workshop style class will teach you how to improve your skills and technique for dance styles such as lyrical, jazz, and pom. Sharpening up your turns, leaps, and jumps will create only the strongest dancers. This class will show you how to do combos that can be incorporated into routines. This class is highly encouraged for anyone who is serious about becoming a competitive dancer. Min 3 | Max 9. (LS)

In this workshop, you will tighten up already learned tricks as well as build new ones. These will be solo enhancements as well as team building stunts. This class is strongly recommended for those who are interested in being competitive in hip hop. Learning moves and stunts will build strength, confidence, and teamwork! Min 3 | Max 9. (LS)

Tumbling will provide athletes an opportunity to learn even more about what they can do with their bodies. Increasing flexibility, strength, and balance are some of the many skills that will improve from taking this class. Learning the basics such as forward rolls, handstands, and cartwheels will prepare students to take on even more challenging skills as they continue their education. Min 3 | Max 9. (LS)

Tumbling II is for older students who are ready to flip into some trickier material. Each athlete will be able to work at their own pace and improve specific skills that will benefit them and what they are ready to accomplish. Learning how to get those hands and feet off the ground and completely invert your body is everyoneâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s goal. Lyrical I Flow, elegance, and beautiful technique make Lyrical dance so special. This class will be filled with magic and grace for a dancer who is up for the challenge. Turns and leaps across the dance floor will wow the crowd as well as the dancer who has learned how to properly execute them. Building flexibility and trust within a team makes a dancer who is preparing to be competitive. Learn the basics of lyrical and perfect your skills in this level I class. Min 3 | Max 9. (LS)

Hip Hop is a style of dance that will make sure to keep you moving. If you like music that gets you out of your seat, this is the class for you. Created for dancers ready to work on their rhythm and groove, Hip Hop will be taught by individuals who know what it takes to make it to the top. This is not your typical dance class because it’s more than choreography that makes a strong Hip Hop dancer. Min 3 | Max 9. (LS)

Learn basic arm placements and introduction to technique. High speed turns, jumps, and choreography are incorporated in this style of Pom. Effortlessly flowing transitions and peppy energy are what make Pom routines so exciting to watch and perform. Using fluffy poms to create images and passes are what make this class so unique. You have made it to the next level! You will now get an opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of the sport. Introducing this technical style is a challenging, but rewarding experience. If you are sassy and spunky, jazz is the class for you. This style of dance is all about showcasing “what you got!” Learn a style that will literally keep you on your toes. Would you like to be a performer in broadway style shows? This class will introduce students to the world of character building and exploration as well as teaching them how to dance in styles like jazz and tap. If you have rhythm that flows through you to the point where you can’t stop tapping your toes, you have found your perfect match. Magical Animals Workshop

DAYS OFF SCHOOL The Bensenville Park District offers care for children on school holidays, institute days and in-service days. Child care is offered from 7am-3pm (children must arrive by 9am). School will be dependent on whether or not District 2 goes back to in-person learning. Stay tuned to our website for more info. Start and end the school day off right with Clubhouse hybrid before and after school program! Drop your child off for a fun morning or evening of games, activities and more. A free breakfast and afternoon snack is included. Clubhouse follows the District 2 2020-2021 In-Classroom Calendar. Masks are required to be worn at all times and social distancing will be enforced. SCHOOL BREAK ESCAPES The Bensenville Park District is offering your child a safe and fun alternative to staying home over your Winter and Spring Breaks! Each day will include new activities, as well as a variety of exciting games at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. You can register for one camp day, or sign up for all five of them. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather, as we might be going outside. Your child should also wear gym shoes for indoor play activities. All camp days include an afternoon snack, but please pack a lunch for your child. We meet in the Spruce-Hawthorne Room at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. Minimum registration is 8 per day; maximum is 22. Masks are required and social distancing will be enforced. (LS)

American Red Cross Adult/Child First Aid and CPR Class

Some safety tips while you mush through the snow: - Stay on flat, level ground - Avoid ice patches - Always keep your snowshoes buckled - Dress warmly to avoid catching hypothermia - Wear flat winter boots

Are you ready for an emergency? Donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be another bystander, be a responder. This one day course will give you hands-on experience on what to do in case of a life-threatening situation. This course will also cover choking hazards, CPR for adults & children as well as basic first aid. Upon successful completion of the multiple choice test and skills review, you will receive an American Red Cross Certification good for two years. Iceless Hockey

Hockey has quickly become one of the most popular sports around and 5 Star Sports believes everyone should be able to play. For these hockey classes we will forget the skates and just focus on the major skills of hockey: shooting, passing, puck handling, defense and teamwork. Players will learn through a mix of skill-based games as well as fun, full on scrimmages. These classes will allow the kids to learn new skills in an enjoyable, safe, and controlled environment. Nerf Combat

We will transform the gym into an arena for the kids to battle and play fun competitive games. Each week we will have skill challenges where the kids will get to practice and compete in different aspects of Nerf Combat. Then we will have an all-out battle to wrap up each week. Nerf has many benefits including teamwork, exercise, disciplined fun and learning to balance competition with good sportsmanship. Each child MUST have eye protection to participate. Come play some basketball with former Harlem Globetrotter Eli Quintana! Coach Eli will take a deep dive into the fundamentals of basketball and show the kids some cool tricks on the way. Each participant will receive a medal upon completion of the program. Min 4 | Max 9.

Youth Soccer Class

This class helps children learn the fundamentals of soccer in a noncompetitive setting. Dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense will all be emphasized with good sportsmanship included. Basic skills are taught through games, drills, and fun! Each class ends with a short scrimmage to allow the kids to work as teammates and use each of their skills. Min 4 | Max 9. (TL/SV)

Soccer Skills & Drills

Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time to get outside and work those soccer muscles! Our soccer coaches will keep your child moving and improving through the entire e-clinic. Each week will be new skill building games and drills created to be taught and played individually or can be done with siblings and parents. Individual attention will make sure every player in 5 Star Soccer Skills and Drills improves and has a great time. When the session is over, the coach will answer any questions the players or parents may have. The only equipment you need is a soccer ball, cones, or a few items to use similarly, and a goal or target. If you take the clinic and need any of these things, 5 Star can drop them off for you to use for the classes for an extra fee. Hitting is arguably the best part of baseball. With our new hitting clinic your kids will be able to work alongside some of our best coaches to master the fundamentals of hitting. The Edge Ice Arena offers learn to skate classes for all ages and abililties. Whether you are an aspiring Olympian, future Blackhawk, or want to skate for fun and exercise, there is a class for you. 40 minute class includes instruction and supervised practice time. Skate rental available for $2 per week (punch card available for your convenience). Helmet is recommended but not required. Gloves are a must. Notes About Our Trips

Transportation is provided in our new deluxe 36 passenger mini-bus, equipped with a wheelchair lift and can accommodate 2 wheelchair passengers. Please indicate at registration if you require a wheelchair spot on the bus or have any special needs. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis, when accompanied with payment. If a trip is full, we strongly encourage you to put your name on the waitlist. Many times there are cancellations, additional tickets may be acquired, or an additional date may be scheduled. If the deadline has passed, please call to check for availability. We encourage participants to bring their own re-usable water bottle in an effort to support our environment. Illumination at the Morton Arboretum

Join us for an evening of beautiful Christmas lights all aglow at the Morton Arboretum. This year the Illumination event at the Morton Arboretum is going to be a drive-thru experience. We will be able to enjoy the lights from the comfort of our brand new bus. A small snack will be provided, but participants should eat dinner before the event. Register by 12/22. This is a beginner project for those who already know the chain stitch. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s an easy project for people trying to learn crocheting in the round. The little basket is handy on a vanity, desk, or nightstand to hold a variety of items. The prerequisite to this class is to already know the chain stitch. Pick up a supply list upon registration. This is an easy pattern and one that works up quite quickly. It has a lacy edging of which you will have directions, as well as be able to follow a chart. Using striping yarn makes this interesting! This will keep the chill away when in air conditioning, or on chilly days to come! This shawl will fit all and you will learn that you can alter your yarn with this too. Board Meetings

Park Board meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6:00P, except for June, July, and August when meetings are at 5:30P, at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. Residents are invited to attend and are welcome to make suggestions or constructive comments to improve the facilities, programs, and activities that are offered by the Park District. Boys & Girls Athletic Association, BBAA

The Bensenville Boys & Girls Athletic Association (BBAA) is a local sports organization that provides athletic outlets for boys and girls, ages 5-14, of the Bensenville area. The BBAA is a separate entity from the Bensenville Park District and has a separate board and network of volunteers that governs them. Your group can enjoy outdoor rental space in one of our parks. The Bensenville Park District offers a variety of park locations perfect for your next event. Field rentals are also available. Extra charges may apply for lighting, field grooming, supervision, bathroom facilities, etc.

Shelter Rentals

The Kiwanis Shelter, located adjacent to the Water Park, offers a barbecue grill, six picnic tables, electricity and restrooms. Sunrise Shelter, located at Memorial and Marion, can also be rented, but has no electricity or bathrooms. Both facilities can be rented May through September.

Registration & Policy Information Program Registration

Before registering make sure that you have updated your household information with the Bensenville Park District. This can be done by filling out the Household Information Form. The Household Information Form along with the Registration Form can be found on our website and is available at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. When completing the Registration Form keep in mind the following • Fill out the form carefully and completely. Please indicate if you have changed your address, phone number, or email address. • Payment can be made via credit card, money order or check. Make checks payable to the Bensenville Park District • Bring or mail your Registration Form with payment to the Deer Grove Leisure Center.

Refund Policy

The Bensenville Park District constantly strives to offer you the best in recreational activities, events, and programs. If you are not completely satisfied and would like to request a refund please call and we can help you with your options. • A $5 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds. • You may transfer to another class if space is available. • A pro-rated refund will be issued for medical or moving reasons. Documentation is required. • Refunds take three weeks to process. Checks are mailed directly to your home. • No refunds will be granted 24 hours before a class starts or after it has started. • Certain facility and program refund policies may differ. Please adhere to the specific policies.

Financial Aid Program

The Bensenville Park District believes that all residents should have the opportunity to participate in recreational programs. The Park District will attempt to provide leisure opportunities for residents faced with financial hardship. Please call (630) 766-7015 or visit the Deer Grove Leisure Center and ask for a Financial Assistance Scholarship Application. You must turn in your application two weeks prior to your program start date.

Trip Policies

A refund will only be issued if a substitute can be found. The Bensenville Park District must pay in advance for tickets and reservations, therefore, this policy is strictly enforced.

Toilet Training Policy

The Bensenville Park District makes every effort to provide complete and accurate information about the programs contained within this brochure. If an error has occurred, the Park District has the right to revise, delete, or change any information it deems necessary.

Bensenville Park District requires program participants to be toilet trained. Staff are not permitted to change diapers or soiled clothing. Participants may keep extra clothes on hand for emergency situations, however, the participant, participant’s parents, or designated person may assist with the change. Pull-ups brand training pants are not acceptable. This policy does not apply to participants ages two and under.

No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability be denied equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage or opportunity. Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for particular programs as necessary by staff. Participants shall: • Show respect to all participants and staff • Refrain from using foul language • Refrain from causing bodily harm to participants and staff • Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. The Bensenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant from a facility, program or event for violation of behavior guidelines.

Photographs and videos are periodically taken of participants in classes, at special events, or at the parks. Please be aware that these photos are for Park District use only and may be used in the District’s publications, websites, and/or social media accounts. In the event you do not want yourself, or your child featured in these publications, the Bensenville Park District needs to be notified prior to the event in writing. Please call the Park District with any questions.

Insurance Policy

The Bensenville Park District is unable to assume the responsibility for injuries or accidents occurring at programs, activities, parks, and facilities. Please check your insurance coverage before you participate.
