MN Hereford Breeders | Gopher The Purple Sale

Page 1

SATURDAY DECEMBER 13,

On behalf of the Minnesota Hereford Breeders, we welcome you to the 45th Annual Go-Pher the Purple Sale. 45 years is no small feat — it reflects decades of dedication, strong breeder participation, and the shared commitment that has allowed this event to thrive for nearly half a century. We are grateful for the support that continues to make this Hereford tradition possible.

The consignors have assembled another powerful group this year. With the diverse offering that only a consignment sale can provide, there’s truly something to complement any operation.

As in previous years, we will be hosting a live video sale, with all lots on display for the duration of the event. Cattle will be available for inspection after 1 p.m. on Friday. We invite you to scan the code below to access the video catalog at your convenience.

If you are unable to join us on sale day, you can bid live through LiveAuctions.tv or reach out to any of the owners, staff, or committee members for assistance.

We are pleased to offer this year’s Gopher Sale donation heifer, as the Minnesota Junior program has been so important to our family! We have five grandchildren showing in the NJHA shows, with a couple more soon to follow. The Hereford breed and the Minnesota Hereford Breeders continue to support and expand opportunities for Hereford youth, helping to build a strong next generation of Hereford breeders. 553N represents generations of JRR prefix genetics on both sides of the pedigree. Champion Hereford Heifer

Full sibs to proven winners! In 2024 and 2025, two full sisters really lit up the show road. One, shown by Paisley Conroy (pictured), won her division at FWSS, San Antonio, and Houston. The other? Reserve division at the JNHE, Champion Hereford at the MN Beef Expo, and Reserve division at the 2025 NWSS.

This pedigree isn’t just good on paper—it works in the ring. The 4328 donor has really taken off lately, raising three National Champions in the last five years, in both bulls and females. Maternal brothers include ECR WF Gus 058 ET

Homozygous Polled mating. 1J was a standout in our 2025 Genetic Opportunity Female Sale, commanding $15,000. She combines exceptional phenotype with an elite numerical profile, making her a true donor-quality female. Old Fashioned needs no introduction—he was the high-selling bull at the 2025 National Western Hereford Sale. Guaranteed one confirmed pregnancy when the embryo is transferred by a certified embryologist.

This mating is designed to produce cattle that are highly maternal with added performance, value, and long-term production potential. In our fall Genetic Opportunity Sale, three daughters of 610D and one granddaughter generated nearly $60,000 in total sales. 610D was also the dam of the second high-selling female in the 2024 Go-Pher Sale.

OPEN HEIFERS

Here’s a sharp-made heifer by the widely used On Demand and a proven 9116 daughter. No surprise, she was the pick of our heifer calves at the MHB Fall Tour. 38N has the look to stand out in the show ring, but her real value lies in her maternal strength — every 9116 descendant in our herd has become a standout cow. A half sibling to this female produced our high-selling bull each of the last two years. GE-EPDs available sale day.

OPEN HEIFERS

50N is a dark red, attractive heifer with plenty of growth and natural thickness. She carries 100% eye pigment. Her 9-year-old dam is a never-miss cow that consistently brings in a top calf. We are excited about our Vegas-sired calves—they are dark red, display excellent pigment, and carry that extra thickness we all appreciate!

MS DAKITCH MDK 74J LADY M 133N

Another daughter of CH Premier, 133N is a moderate-framed, deep-ribbed, goggle-eyed female from our Lady M cow family, which has been a cornerstone of our herd. Her calm demeanor didn’t do her any favors on picture day! She was proudly part of our 2025 MN State Fair string.

GLF 129G 475Z STARRY 10N

Another great heifer from Stockman, she had many friends at the Minnesota Fall Hereford Tour. This clean-fronted, deep-bodied heifer with her distinct white ear is sure to be an eye-catcher in the ring. Keep in mind that with some hard work and dedication, she could be in the running for the prize money awarded at the
