Rev. Dr. Owens, we at Back2Ruuts Hair Salon join with your New Hope Baptist family and its surrounding communities to honor the continuing legacy of your pastoral service.

Your love of God was born of your childhood days as a member of New Hope, and has come full circle during your 35-year journey as its servant shephard. During this time of celebration, the passage below comes to mind.

“If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

Romans 12:8

The many lives you and First Lady Owens have touched have been made better because you live those words, and teach others to do likewise.

Bishop & Lady Owens, may your many gifts continue to make room for you, your flock and community.

In loving memory of my parents Luther and Dorothy Owens, who taught me the Love of God.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” – Romans 10: 14-15
