Your love of God was born of your childhood days as a member of New Hope, and has come full circle during your 35-year journey as its servant shephard. During this time of celebration, the passage below comes to mind.
“If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”
Romans 12:8
The many lives you and First Lady Owens have touched have been made better because you live those words, and teach others to do likewise.
Bishop & Lady Owens, may your many gifts continue to make room for you, your flock and community.

When we thank God for Bishop Owens, we must give Him thanks for two, for when your husband was called to preach, God also sent us you. A pastor’s wife must be many things, you have many hats to wear, and we say “thanks to you” for all you do and lift you up in prayer.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” – Romans 10: 14-15
With Love, Barbara Thurmond Jones & Everett and Deborah Thurmond
