The mine operates as one of the world’s largest underground gold mining facilities, reaching depths of up to 1,500 meters. Today, Obuasi employs over 4,400 people and continues to play a key role in securing Ghana’s position as one of Africa’s top gold producers. The ongoing commitment to responsible mining practices and infrastructure improvements ensures that Obuasi remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s economic future.

CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE IN LEADERSHIP

As global business continues to evolve at a pace unmatched in history, the qualities required of successful leaders are undergoing a transformation. In the past, technical expertise and strategic thinking were often enough to propel individuals to the top. But in today's complex, multicultural environments, another skill is rising to prominence: cultural intelligence.

Cultural intelligence, or CQ, refers to a person's capability to function effectively across various cultural contexts, including national, ethnic, organisational, and generational cultures. It is becoming a cornerstone of effective leadership, especially in environments that demand empathy, adaptability, and nuanced communication. In 2025, the business leaders to watch are those who are embracing and embodying this vital competency.

What distinguishes cultural intelligence from other leadership traits is its emphasis on understanding and leveraging cultural differences, rather than simply tolerating them. Leaders with high cultural intelligence are not just aware of diversity; they actively seek to engage with it, learn from it, and use it to drive innovation and cohesion. This mindset is particularly critical in global teams, where collaboration often spans continents, time zones, and languages.

In the boardrooms of London, the coworking hubs of Nairobi, and the tech corridors of Bangalore, leaders are finding that cultural intelligence is not just a niceto-have, but a must-have. It enables them to navigate cross-cultural negotiations, lead international teams, and develop products and services that resonate in multiple markets. More importantly, it helps build trust the foundation upon which all strong leadership is built.

One of the defining characteristics of culturally intelligent leaders is their ability to listen deeply and without judgement. This type of listening goes beyond hearing words; it involves interpreting meaning, understanding context, and appreciating what is unsaid. In highstakes environments, such leaders bring a calming presence, helping their teams feel seen, heard, and understood.

Another hallmark is adaptability. Leaders with high cultural intelligence are able to shift their behaviour and communication style according to the cultural context. This doesn't mean they are inauthentic or inconsistent. Rather, they possess a self-awareness and flexibility that allows them to maintain their core values while adjusting their approach to meet others where they are.

Culturally intelligent leadership also prioritises curiosity. Leaders who excel in this area tend to ask more questions than they answer. They are open to learning from others and view cultural differences as a resource, not a barrier. This openness can lead to richer collaboration and more creative problem-solving, which are essential in a world where change is constant.

Importantly, cultural intelligence is not static. It can be developed and refined over time. Organisations that recognise this are investing in training, mentorship, and experiential learning to help their leaders grow in this area. They're also embedding CQ into their hiring and promotion processes, ensuring that those who rise through the ranks are equipped to lead diverse teams effectively.

In 2025, businesses will increasingly measure leadership success not just by financial outcomes, but by the ability to inspire and unify across boundaries. Leaders who can read a room in Singapore as deftly as they can in Stockholm, who understand the nuances of communication in Lagos and Los Angeles alike, will be the ones who stand out.

Some of the most promising leaders to watch in the coming year are those who have built bridges across cultures in meaningful ways. They may not always hold the highest titles, but their impact is undeniable. Whether leading grassroots initiatives or steering multinational corporations, they are setting a new standard for what effective leadership looks like.

LEADERSHIP

These leaders are also more likely to champion inclusive practices, recognising that true diversity goes beyond numbers. They foster environments where everyone feels they belong, where different perspectives are not only welcomed but actively sought out. Their approach is holistic, viewing cultural intelligence as integral to decision-making, conflict resolution, and innovation.

The post-pandemic world has made it abundantly clear that the old models of leadership are no longer sufficient. The interconnectedness of today's economy requires a broader, more empathetic lens. Cultural intelligence provides that lens. It equips leaders with the tools to navigate uncertainty, to connect across divides, and to create workplaces that are both highperforming and human-centred.

For Business Enquirer readers, this signals a pivotal shift. The leaders poised to make the most impact in 2025 will not necessarily be those with the most traditional credentials, but those with the cultural dexterity to lead with authenticity and effectiveness across boundaries. They are the ones redefining influence and reshaping what leadership means in a globalised world.

In watching these leaders, we are not just witnessing individual success stories. We are seeing the emergence of a new leadership paradigm one that places cultural intelligence at its heart. And as the world becomes even more interconnected, this paradigm is not only relevant; it is essential.

THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY

Mobility is undergoing a seismic shift. What was once a sector dominated by traditional automotive players and linear supply chains has evolved into a dynamic ecosystem powered by innovation, sustainability and digital integration. As we step further into 2025, the conversation around mobility is no longer confined to how people move from one place to another. Instead, it encompasses the full breadth of how societies function, how cities breathe and how economies grow.

The concept of mobility today is as much about data and design as it is about engines and infrastructure. Startups, tech giants and legacy manufacturers are converging to redefine the experience of movement in ways that are smarter, greener and more responsive to the needs of people and the planet. From smart cities embedded with real time traffic intelligence to the rise of autonomous transport and sustainable urban planning, the future of mobility is being shaped by those who are not just reacting to change but driving it.

One of the most prominent shifts in the sector is the rise of electric vehicles. But beyond the headline of electrification lies a deeper transformation. Innovation in battery technology, charging infrastructure and energy management systems is making sustainable transport not only viable but desirable. Governments

and corporations alike are investing in cleaner alternatives that align with climate goals and consumer expectations. This shift is not simply a technological upgrade. It is a reimagining of mobility as a service that is efficient, equitable and environmentally responsible.

Equally transformative is the digitalisation of mobility services. Platforms that integrate public transport with micro mobility options such as e scooters and shared bikes are helping create seamless urban journeys. These interconnected systems rely heavily on user data and artificial intelligence to predict demand, reduce congestion and improve access. The future belongs to those who can harness these tools to deliver mobility solutions that are intuitive, personalised and inclusive.

The role of cities in this evolution cannot be overstated. Urban centres are becoming laboratories for innovation in transport, logistics and infrastructure. Mayors and planners are prioritising walkability, accessibility and low emission zones, rethinking the layout and logic of cityscapes. Smart traffic signals, connected vehicles and adaptive transit systems are just some of the innovations taking root. In this context, mobility is no longer just about movement. It is about improving quality of life and making cities more liveable.

Leadership in this space will come from those who view mobility through a multidisciplinary lens. Engineers, urbanists, policy makers and designers must collaborate to build systems that are as functional as they are forward thinking. The companies and individuals to watch in 2025 are those who are not only introducing breakthrough technologies but are doing so with a commitment to inclusivity, sustainability and long term impact.

An important element of this transformation is public trust. As autonomous vehicles and data driven systems become more prevalent, the need for transparency and ethical governance grows. Building trust through clear communication, data security and public engagement will be crucial for adoption. People must feel confident not just in the technology but in the intentions behind it.

We are also seeing a cultural shift in how mobility is perceived. Ownership is giving way to access. The idea of mobility as a service is gaining ground with flexible subscriptions and pay per use models appealing to a new generation of users. This evolution reflects broader trends in consumer behaviour where convenience, customisation and sustainability are key priorities.

What makes 2025 a particularly exciting year for mobility is the convergence of readiness and opportunity. Technologies that have been in development for years are now reaching maturity. Regulatory frameworks are beginning to catch up with innovation. And perhaps most importantly, there is a growing public appetite for change. Whether it is the reduction of urban traffic, the embrace of low carbon commuting or the desire for safer more connected journeys, the momentum is clear.

For readers of Business Enquirer, the message is both simple and profound. The future of mobility is no longer a distant vision. It is here, unfolding in real time. The leaders and innovators to watch are those who understand that the next frontier is not just about vehicles or infrastructure but about experiences, systems and values. They are the ones who are turning challenges into catalysts and possibilities into progress.

Innovation in mobility is not a single destination but a journey of continuous evolution. As we navigate the opportunities and complexities of this landscape, one thing is certain. The way we move will continue to reflect the way we live, work and connect. And in that movement lies the blueprint for a smarter, more sustainable future.

MARKET VOLATILITY

As we enter 2025, market volatility remains a central theme across global financial landscapes. Investors, analysts and policymakers alike are navigating a world shaped by rapid technological transformation, shifting geopolitical alliances and ongoing economic recalibrations. Market fluctuations are no longer occasional interruptions but part of a new normal where change is constant and often unpredictable.

This era of persistent volatility is not solely a product of economic fundamentals. Instead, it reflects the interconnectivity of markets and the speed at which information, sentiment and risk can influence decision making. In such an environment, traditional models of prediction and performance are being tested. Agility, insight and resilience are becoming essential attributes for businesses and investors.

One of the major drivers of volatility is geopolitical uncertainty. Trade policies, diplomatic relations and regional conflicts continue to exert a powerful influence over markets. As countries reassess their strategic positions in a post globalisation age, the ripple effects on commodities, currencies and equities are far reaching. The challenge for businesses is to remain flexible while maintaining a clear long term vision.

Technology is another factor reshaping the volatility landscape. Innovations in artificial intelligence, fintech and digital infrastructure are not only creating new opportunities but also introducing

VOLATILITY

unfamiliar risks. The rise of algorithmic trading and high frequency strategies has added layers of complexity to market behaviour. While these tools can offer advantages in efficiency and analysis, they can also amplify swings and contribute to sudden dislocations.

At the heart of market activity lies sentiment. In an age dominated by social media and instant communication, sentiment can shift rapidly, often divorced from economic reality. A single event, headline or online rumour has the potential to trigger a chain reaction across asset classes. This psychological component of markets underscores the importance of narrative and perception, particularly in times of uncertainty.

Corporate leadership plays a crucial role in managing the effects of volatility. Companies that are transparent, responsive and grounded in sound governance tend to inspire confidence even amid turbulence. Investors are increasingly looking beyond short term gains to assess the strategic positioning and ethical foundations of firms. Sustainability, risk management and stakeholder engagement are becoming key indicators of long term value.

Economic policy remains a significant variable. Central banks and regulatory bodies are grappling with how to balance growth, inflation and financial stability. The tools at their disposal have evolved, but so too have the expectations placed upon them. Policy decisions can no longer be viewed in isolation. Their impact is immediate and global, influencing markets not just domestically but across interconnected economies.

In this climate, diversification is gaining renewed relevance. Investors are exploring alternative asset classes, including private equity, infrastructure and real assets, in pursuit of stability and returns. Diversification strategies are also extending beyond geography and sector, incorporating values based and impact investing as integral parts of portfolio construction.

Communication has become a strategic asset. Clear, honest and consistent communication from businesses, institutions and leaders helps mitigate panic and confusion during volatile periods. Those who can articulate their strategy and rationale with clarity are more likely to retain trust and loyalty, even when performance fluctuates.

While volatility presents challenges, it also creates opportunity. Periods of disruption can serve as a catalyst for innovation, investment and transformation. Businesses that remain adaptable and forward thinking can find ways to leverage volatility to their advantage. The key lies in preparedness, not prediction. Understanding the drivers of change and building organisational resilience are more important than ever.

The outlook for 2025 is defined not by certainty but by the ability to navigate uncertainty. Market watchers, investors and business leaders must adopt a mindset that embraces complexity and seeks out the signals within the noise. This requires both analytical rigour and emotional intelligence, both data and intuition.

For readers of Business Enquirer, this is a call to engage with volatility not as a threat but as a dimension of modern business. The coming year will test assumptions, reward strategic foresight and highlight the importance of values driven leadership. Those who are able to adapt, to respond with clarity and to remain grounded amid flux will be best positioned to thrive.

Market volatility may not be avoidable, but it is manageable. With the right tools, insights and perspective, it can be transformed from a source of anxiety into a field of opportunity. As we watch the markets in 2025, let us do so not with apprehension but with attention, curiosity and readiness.

REAL ESTATEREIMAGINED

Real estate is undergoing a transformation that is as profound as it is dynamic. Across commercial, residential and industrial sectors, the expectations placed on built environments are shifting rapidly. The traditional measures of value such as location and square footage are no longer sufficient. Today’s real estate leaders are being asked to respond to emerging trends in sustainability, technology, urban planning and changing human behaviours.

The reimagining of real estate begins with purpose. Buildings and spaces are no longer static assets but must now serve flexible and evolving roles. Whether it's creating adaptive workplaces, designing net zero homes or developing logistics hubs for the digital economy, the industry is being reshaped by function as much as by form. This evolution is not just architectural. It is deeply cultural, touching on how people live, work and interact with space.

The workplace is one of the most visible arenas for change. Hybrid working models have disrupted the conventional office hierarchy. As a result, developers and landlords are rethinking layouts, amenities and leasing structures. Offices are becoming more human centric, offering wellness features, smart technologies and community focused design. This trend reflects a broader shift towards flexibility and quality of experience over rigid permanence.

Residential real estate is also being influenced by new patterns of living. There is growing demand for homes that are energy efficient, technologically integrated and resilient to climate pressures. The rise of remote working has altered what buyers and renters value, with greater emphasis on space, connectivity and access to nature. Developers who can meet these expectations while maintaining affordability will be positioned to lead.

Sustainability is no longer a differentiator. It is a baseline requirement. The real

estate industry is facing increasing scrutiny over its environmental impact, from construction practices to long term operational efficiency. Buildings must now demonstrate their ability to contribute positively to climate goals. This includes the use of sustainable materials, smart energy systems and responsible land use. Investors and tenants alike are prioritising ESG credentials, creating pressure and opportunity for innovation.

Technology continues to reshape every part of the property lifecycle. From AI driven design tools and digital twins to blockchain enabled transactions and predictive maintenance, real estate is becoming increasingly digitised. These technologies are improving decision making, reducing costs and enhancing user experiences. Proptech is not just a niche field but a core driver of industry advancement.

Urban development strategies are being rewritten. The idea of the fifteen minute city where all essential services are accessible within a short walk or cycle is gaining traction. This model promotes localism, reduces reliance on transport and enhances quality of life. Mixed use developments that blend residential, commercial and recreational spaces are redefining urban vibrancy. The goal is not just density, but livability.

Industrial and logistics real estate is rising in prominence due to the boom in e commerce and global supply chain adjustments. Warehousing, distribution centres and data hubs are being designed with efficiency, automation and sustainability in mind. The lines between industrial and technological spaces are blurring, giving rise to new typologies that serve digital infrastructure as much as physical goods.

Leadership in this changing landscape requires more than technical expertise. It calls for vision, adaptability and empathy. The most effective leaders are those who can interpret trends, engage diverse stakeholders and drive innovation with purpose. Real estate is becoming more

interdisciplinary, requiring collaboration between architects, technologists, urbanists and environmental experts.

Equity and inclusion are emerging as important themes. Access to quality housing and public space is a social imperative. Developers are being challenged to consider how their projects impact broader communities and contribute to social wellbeing. Inclusive design, equitable development and community consultation are gaining ground as critical components of success.

The financing of real estate is also evolving. Investors are looking for assets that demonstrate long term resilience and positive impact. This is giving rise to new financial instruments and metrics that prioritise sustainability, social value and adaptability. The integration of these considerations into capital decisions marks a shift towards more responsible investment practices.

Education and upskilling within the industry are vital. As roles become more complex and expectations rise, professionals need to be equipped with new knowledge and tools. Institutions,

firms and individuals who invest in continuous learning and cross disciplinary fluency will be better prepared for the demands of the future.

What defines the industry in 2025 is not the buildings themselves but the vision behind them. Real estate is moving beyond physical assets into the realm of service, experience and stewardship. It is about building places that reflect and support the way people want to live, work and connect. In this context, innovation is not optional. It is essential.

For Business Enquirer readers, the message is clear. The reimagining of real estate is a story of transformation that touches every part of the industry. It invites bold thinking, ethical leadership and a willingness to embrace complexity. Those watching closely in 2025 will see an industry not merely responding to change but actively shaping the future.

With operations well-established in Malta and ambitious plans for expansion into Italy and South EMEA, the firm is on a mission to make cutting-edge protection accessible and effective for organisations of all sizes.

Antonio explains that, at Amagistech, “we continuously monitor our clients’ compliance posture against cybersecurity standards, with DORA being top of mind for many customers now.” To satisfy regulatory bodies, especially in the financial sector, they implement automated penetration testing, covering black box, grey box and white box exercises, to ensure rigorous vulnerability checks as well as automated compliance gaps analysis with Vanta. This holistic approach allows them to supply tangible evidence to regulators, especially in Italy where transparency is paramount.

To further secure cloud environments, Amagistech employs Wiz that go well beyond scanning for basic CVEs. “We focus on identifying vulnerabilities that can actually be exploited by malicious actors,” says Antonio. "It’s not just about compliance, it's about operational resilience." By using platforms that reveal

real-world exploitable issues, they can help clients plug gaps before they are weaponised.

Endpoints and Networks must still be monitored, and we decided to partner with two of the best providers in these arenas: SentinelOne for EDR and Vectra AI for NDR. Finally, we complemented our ecosystem so far with Cato Networks to offer the best SASE solution to our customers. However, the real brain behind all our offering is provided by Google SecOps, with its advanced capabilities as SIEM and SOAR. Google SecOps allows us to automate as much as possible not only detections based on all different sources of logs, but also responses through its playbooks.

This ability to earn trust has led to some big clients, including Melita and Casumo. Antonio reflects, “We’re incredibly proud of the feedback we’ve received from such important customers. Ultimately, everything boils down to our values.” He emphasises that while technical talent is rare and invaluable, what truly distinguishes Amagistech is their dedication to innovation and facing forward.

Indeed, the company invests heavily in research and development. They don't

AMAGISTECH CYBER SECURITY

stick with tools merely because they know them; instead, every year they benchmark new technologies against those in their current stack, integrating only those which outperform. “We adopt what’s best, not what yields the highest margin,” Antonio insists. “We’re security nerds. We love discovering new tools and mastering them.”

This philosophy led to the early adoption of emerging platforms such as Vanta and Wiz, companies founded less than a decade ago, now worth billions. Wiz was reportedly acquired by Google for about US$32 billion, underlining its transformative impact on cloud security. Amagistech scouted these technologies early and integrated them before they became market staples. Their clients feel assured that recommendations are genuine and value-driven.

Amagistech’s model works equally well for large enterprises. Given lengthy procurement cycles and procurement fatigue, many organisations are reluctant to constantly switch tools. “They can’t afford change every year,” Antonio says. But with Amagistech under a master agreement, updates occur behind the scenes, invisibly. “We do the heavy lifting, and they just get results.”

On the technology front, Amagistech is especially captivated by Agentic AI, the use of autonomous agents in cyber security. The idea is to pair rapid automation with human supervision. “We don’t fully trust unsupervised AI yet,” Antonio admits, especially in critical environments. Instead, they assign domain experts in GRC, network, endpoint security and more to oversee the AI-driven systems. “The combination of automation and human oversight offers the best of both worlds.”

A major trend they’re embracing is automated penetration testing. Historically, pentesting was manual, slow and expensive. Now, platforms such as Horizon3 and Picus offer continuous, automated assessment, simulating adversarial attacks rapidly and at scale.

For example, Picus’s Security Control

Validation product performs continuous testing, mimicking real ‐world attacker tactics such as lateral movement or privilege escalation, while avoiding production downtime, whilst Horizon3 allows you to simulate external attacks at ease. This reduces cost and increases test frequency, a boon for clients with frequent release cycles.

Reddit commentary reflects how attitudes are shifting:

“By having a tool that can do 80% of what a pentester can at the click of a button … tremendously decreases your risk of breach.” reddit.com

This sentiment, echoed by industry observers, affirms why Amagistech is integrating such tools early, especially when paired with expert oversight.

Another foundational trend is continuous compliance automation. Vanta, in particular, integrates with hundreds of services; Microsoft, Google, Slack and more, to automatically collect evidence and verify compliance in near real time. As Antonio explains, “It’s critical to our mission of accessibility, because small-management businesses couldn’t maintain strong compliance manually without significant cost overhead.”

Strategically, Amagistech is preparing to expand its footprint. Following success in Malta, they are establishing an Italian subsidiary with plans to scale operations. Antonio confirms, “We’re launching a fundraising campaign in Italy, with a pre‐money valuation of €15 million, intending to sell between 5 and 10 percent of the company..” He's clear about his intent: they’re seeking smart money, not just capital. They want investors who can act as connectors; technology leaders, former founders or venture advisors who can open doors and create strategic opportunities.

"The fuel we seek is for scaling, not sustaining," he underscores. The company is nearly profitable and thriving; what

they need now is acceleration, especially in establishing key Italian partnerships as regulatory moments converge. Looking ahead, Amagistech is also keen to develop proprietary tools. Recent research has emerged in technologies such as RapidPen, an automated IP-to-shell pentesting tool powered by LLM-based agents, achieving shell access in under 400 seconds. Others, such as PentestAgent and BreachSeek, illustrate how AI agents can autonomously conduct vulnerability analysis and exploitation. Though much of this area is still experimental, Amagistech is watching closely, aiming for the first-mover advantage.

In essence, Amagistech is constructing a next-generation cybersecurity ecosystem, where compliance monitoring, continuous testing and advanced threat detection converge in an intelligent, supervised-by-experts platform. It combines enterprise-grade scaleability with SME affordability.

By aligning with breakthroughs such as Wiz’s recent acquisition by Google for US$32 billion, Amagistech signals its belief that cybersecurity will be central to cloud infrastructure in the coming decade. The deal was the largest in cybersecurity history so far, reinforcing just how critical this field has become.

Ultimately, Amagistech’s vision is grand yet grounded: provide cutting-edge cybersecurity, flexible procurement and humanised integration, all without burdening clients with complexity or cost. They want to continue pioneering in Italy and South EMEA, forever influenced by Malta's agile foundations, and guided by a clear north star “accessible cybersecurity” for the next generation of digital innovators.

A TRANSFORMATION OF DEPTH AND SCALE IN GHANA’S MINING SECTOR

ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI PROJECT DIRECTED BY: GARY SMITH

Located in Ghana's Ashanti region, the Obuasi mine is one of Africa’s most significant and longeststanding mining operations. This gold mine is renowned not only for its size but also for its recent advancements that promise to take it to new heights. AngloGold Ashanti, a leading global gold mining company, has breathed new life into the Obuasi Mine, transforming it into an operation that aims to shape the future of mining in the region and beyond.

Obuasi's mining history dates back to the late 19th century, with gold being extracted from this area as early as 1897. Since then, it has become one of the world’s richest gold mines, with production levels steadily increasing over the decades. AngloGold Ashanti, a global leader in the mining industry, took over the operation in 2004, and since then, it has overseen major improvements and expansions at the site.

The Obuasi Mine operates as a large underground mining operation, extending to depths of up to 1,500 meters. Over 4,400 people are directly employed at the site, underscoring the

importance of the mine not only as a key contributor to Ghana’s economy but also as a major provider of employment in the region. The mine has long played a pivotal role in Ghana’s economy, with its gold production contributing significantly to the country’s status as one of Africa’s top gold producers.

However, despite its deep history and rich production, the mine faced significant challenges in recent years. These included operational inefficiencies, safety concerns, and fluctuating gold prices. AngloGold Ashanti recognized the need for transformation and invested in modernizing the Obuasi operation to ensure its continued viability and growth in the 21st century.

In 2018, AngloGold Ashanti announced plans to refurbish and redevelop the Obuasi Mine, embarking on a major transformation to return the mine to profitability and improve its environmental and safety standards. These plans were implemented under the leadership of key figures within the company, including the appointment of Samuel Boakye Pobee as Managing Director of the Obuasi Mine in May 2024.

FROM JEWELS TO GENERATIONS: SAUDI GOLD REFINERY’S BOLD RISE IN THE KINGDOM’S MINING REVOLUTION

In a country undergoing one of the most ambitious economic transformations in modern history, Saudi Gold Refinery stands as a case study in vision, resilience, and execution. At its helm is Executive Chairman Sulaiman Al-Othaim, a man whose career reflects both the legacy of Saudi entrepreneurship and the promise of its industrial future.

Al-Othaim began his journey in business at the age of sixteen, working in jewellery sales before going on to become a certified gemologist. What started as a passion for fine craftsmanship would evolve into one of the Kingdom’s most expansive vertically integrated gold enterprises. “From retail to refining to mining—it all had to be under one roof,” he explains. “That was the only way to maintain full control and ensure sustainable growth.”

The story of Saudi Gold Refinery is tightly intertwined with the broader opening of Saudi Arabia’s mining sector. In the early 1990s, when Al-Othaim first expressed interest in entering gold mining, only government entities were permitted to operate in the space. Private sector access

was tightly restricted. Undeterred, he took his ambitions abroad, investing in gold mines across Africa—particularly in Ghana. Though he admits he returned from Africa “with an empty bucket,” the experience offered him a deep well of insight that would serve him well when the moment finally arrived.

That moment came in 2006, when Saudi Arabia joined the World Trade Organization and began liberalising its mining regulations. Al-Othaim, prepared and patient, was among the first to act. He built a highly skilled exploration team, drawing on both domestic and international expertise, including noted South African geologists. With support from historical geological surveys conducted by the Saudi government between the 1950s and 1970s, his team identified over 100 promising sites. These were not speculative claims—they were backed by data, fieldwork, and science.

Today, Saudi Gold Refinery holds 25 approved mining and exploration licences and has submitted more than 400 applications to the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. Fourteen sites are

SAUDI GOLD REFINERY

Executive Chairman, Sulaiman Al-Othaim

actively being explored, and Al-Othaim believes that within six years, the company can complete exploration on 200 sites. The company operates independently at nearly every level—deploying its own drones for aerial surveys, conducting geophysical ground studies, trenching, drilling, and even processing its own samples in a fully equipped, internationally certified lab. This self-reliance isn’t just a cost-saving measure; it’s a philosophy.

“We work differently,” says Al-Othaim. “Others outsource—sign contracts and wait. We execute everything in-house. Our partners benefit because they don’t need to invest in parallel infrastructure. They just give the order, and we get it done.”

This operational model has allowed Saudi Gold Refinery to move faster and more efficiently than most of its competitors. Its 700,000-metre annual drilling capacity

and in-house sample processing (1,000 samples per day) make it one of the most productive exploration entities in the region. The company’s cost structure, Al-Othaim claims, is among the lowest globally, a result of streamlined processes and full vertical integration.

And it doesn’t stop at exploration. Saudi Gold Refinery also maintains a robust manufacturing arm and a scaled-down retail presence, having pivoted in recent years from 30 jewellery showrooms to just three. The shift was strategic. Rather than dilute resources across too many branches, Al-Othaim opted to focus on converting exploration licences into operational mines. “We used to produce and sell six tonnes of jewellery annually,” he says. “Now, the priority is creating mines, not showrooms.”

This shift in focus is also aligned with the national agenda. Under Vision 2030,

OMI Solutions: Powerful Solutions, Gentle Delivery

In a world racing to extract more, OMI Solutions helps companies deliver powerful solutions with gentle delivery through collaboration.

When Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) embarked on its ESG journey, it wasn’t just about ticking boxes. It was about aligning ambition with accountability. Together, we conducted a bold materiality assessment, crafted a living ESG framework, and delivered SGR’s inaugural 2024 Sustainability Report — not as a document, but as a declaration of intent.

This partnership reflects our belief that the true measure of success lies not just in what is mined, but in the legacy left behind. ESG is not a report; it’s a responsibility.

OMI is honoured to stand alongside SGR as it builds a more transparent, ethical, and sustainable future for mining in Saudi Arabia. OMI Solutions — Because sustainable value is the rarest resource of all.

www.prdrigs.com

Saudi Arabia is aggressively diversifying its economy away from oil, and mining has become a cornerstone of that strategy.

Al-Othaim’s company has taken the lead in helping realise that vision. Today, over 60 geologists work under the Saudi Gold Refinery banner, 34 of whom are Saudi nationals. Many are recent graduates being trained to lead the sector’s future.

“We’re not just building a company,” Al-Othaim insists. “We’re building an ecosystem. We’re training Saudi talent to lead this industry for decades to come.”

As part of this effort, the company plans to open a specialised training centre in 2025 to provide instruction in jewellery manufacturing, geological surveying, and mine management. “The long-term success of Saudi mining depends on our ability to empower our own people,” he adds. “And we’re fully committed to that.”

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance is another cornerstone of the company’s growth model. Saudi Gold Refinery works closely with an international ESG consultancy to ensure

its operations meet global standards. Audits are conducted quarterly, and the company has taken steps to replace environmentally hazardous chemicals like cyanide with safer alternatives sourced from China.

The company’s broader social responsibility strategy includes employment schemes, educational funding, and local infrastructure projects in mining areas. A formal proposal is currently under review by the Ministry of Petroleum, and Al-Othaim expects full approval within the year. “We aim to do more than extract resources—we want to contribute to communities,” he says.

With IPO plans in motion, Saudi Gold Refinery is undergoing internal restructuring to meet public listing requirements. That includes upgrading financial governance, ESG compliance, and reporting transparency. Al-Othaim is also negotiating procurement partnerships to position the company as a supply chain hub for other mining firms operating in the region. “We consume so much of certain chemicals and materials

that becoming an official distributor just made sense,” he explains.

The company’s expansion strategy includes partnerships with major international firms from South Africa and China, including state-owned entities and stock-listed corporations. While he declined to name specific partners, AlOthaim confirmed joint ventures are underway to co-develop several highvalue sites.

When asked what success looks like over the next five years, Al-Othaim is direct: “Operating ten active mines. That’s the goal. But we’ve learned from our Crown Prince—aim high, and execute.”

He believes the Saudi ecosystem offers everything a business needs to succeed— visionary leadership, financial support (including up to 75% project financing from the Saudi Industrial Development Fund), and streamlined policy frameworks. “Money isn’t the challenge,” he says. “Execution is.”

Despite the dominance of Ma’aden, Saudi Arabia’s state mining giant, Al-Othaim sees plenty of space for independent players. “We don’t compete by mimicking them,” he notes. “They operate through

consultants and contractors. We work the land ourselves—from the soil to the showroom. It’s the farmer’s way, and it works.”

The company is also exploring opportunities beyond Saudi Arabia. Sites in Morocco are already under preliminary development, and a new holding entity, World Mining Company, has been established to manage international assets. While Saudi Gold Refinery will remain the flagship brand within the Kingdom, World Mining Company will represent Al-Othaim’s global vision.

As Saudi Arabia intensifies its push to become a global mining powerhouse, companies like Saudi Gold Refinery will be central to that story—not only for their output but for their values, their innovation, and their commitment to building a national legacy.

“In Saudi Arabia, everything is in place,” Al-Othaim concludes. “You just need the will to build. If you work smart, work hard, and stay accountable, there are no limits. We don’t just mine gold—we mine potential.”

SUZLON

This commitment has been realised through Suzlon’s broad and meaningful impact across emerging markets, where access to clean, affordable energy is often limited. Whether in rural India, parts of Africa or growing economies in Latin America, Suzlon’s projects have helped light homes, power industries and uplift communities. Beyond electricity, the company has created economic opportunities, training local engineers, hiring regionally and providing secondary benefits such as water conservation and land revitalisation. In India alone, Suzlon’s installed capacity now exceeds 19 GW, helping to avoid over 50 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually – a clear demonstration of how renewable energy can address both environmental and social needs.

The company’s growing presence in the EMEA region reflects its ability to adapt to diverse energy landscapes. In countries such as Morocco, Egypt and South Africa, Suzlon’s wind projects have supported national decarbonisation goals while providing a much-needed boost to local infrastructure and employment. The ability to tailor its technology and operations to specific regional challenges, such as grid limitations, regulatory dynamics or terrain suitability, has given Suzlon an edge in markets where standardised approaches often fall short.

Integral to its success is Suzlon’s strong commitment to working with communities. Through the Suzlon Foundation, the company invests in hundreds of development programmes focused on education, health and environmental sustainability. In Maharashtra and Gujarat, for example, its watershed projects have transformed dry, barren areas into productive farmland, directly benefiting thousands of people and reinforcing the link between ecological restoration and human prosperity. In all its work, Suzlon sees sustainability not as a compliance measure, but as a core value that incorporates people, the planet and progress in equal measure.

Strategic partnerships have also been central to Suzlon’s evolution. By collaborating with global engineering and infrastructure partners, the company has been able to access advanced technologies, diversify its project portfolio and share best practice across regions. Its alliance with Siemens, for instance, has strengthened turbine component quality while maintaining local cost-efficiency through Indian manufacturing. These partnerships are not merely transactional – they are critical enablers of Suzlon’s ambition to decarbonise the energy sector at scale, and they help solidify its standing as a trusted global partner in the energy transition.

One of Suzlon’s key differentiators lies in how it tailors global projects to meet local needs. In Latin America, the company ensures local hiring, language adaptation and ecosystem sensitivity, while in AsiaPacific markets, it customises turbine models to match regional wind profiles and environmental constraints. This ability to blend global innovation with regional context has enabled Suzlon to operate effectively in more than 17 countries across four continents.

Sustainability also permeates Suzlon’s supply chain. Suppliers are rigorously vetted to ensure adherence to environmental, social and ethical standards. The company has been piloting traceability systems, including blockchain and digital ledgers, to enhance transparency and monitor environmental impact across sourcing, logistics and deployment. Further efforts include the use of biodegradable lubricants and recyclable components, all part of Suzlon’s vision to build a truly circular renewable energy model.

Innovation underpins much of Suzlon’s recent progress. Its newer turbine models, including the S144 and S120, have been designed specifically for India’s low-wind regions, improving energy output and lowering the levelised cost of electricity. Modular designs are enabling faster, more efficient installations, and the company is also exploring next-generation materials

that are lighter, more durable and more environmentally friendly. Its research and development efforts are coordinated with some of the world’s leading academic and scientific institutions, ensuring that innovation remains at the heart of its operations.

Digital transformation has become another major lever for progress. With over 12,000 turbines connected to its SCADA system, Suzlon now operates with realtime monitoring and predictive analytics, drastically reducing maintenance costs and improving asset longevity. This digital backbone extends to project planning and site selection, where AI and big data are helping forecast wind patterns, optimise turbine placement and fine-tune energy output. Beyond the turbines themselves, the company is also investing in smart grid integration, hybrid solar-wind systems and energy storage, ensuring that its projects contribute not only to clean energy generation but to broader grid stability and resilience.

As the company looks ahead, it is targeting an additional 25 GW in installed capacity by 2035, with plans to enter the offshore wind and green hydrogen segments. Offshore feasibility studies have already begun along India’s coastlines, and early-stage discussions are underway in Southeast Asia and Europe. All of these developments are aligned with Suzlon’s long-term ambition – to be a global leader in decarbonised energy solutions, delivering impact through innovation, scale and integrity.

The renewable energy sector is evolving rapidly, driven by decentralisation, ESG investments and climate urgency. Suzlon is positioning itself not just as a manufacturer of turbines, but as a holistic energy partner offering end-to-end solutions, from feasibility and engineering to grid integration and community impact. This evolution mirrors the needs of its customers, who increasingly seek energy-as-a-service models rather than just infrastructure.

SUZLON

Environmental stewardship is deeply embedded in the company’s practices, from biodiversity management around project sites to zero-waste initiatives in its manufacturing processes. Suzlon is equally focused on its social responsibility – particularly in empowering women in engineering roles, supporting local artisans through its foundation and offering scholarships to students from underrepresented communities.

Looking to the future, Suzlon anticipates challenges such as global supply chain disruptions, rising raw material costs and the need for more flexible grid systems. But rather than be deterred, the company is doubling down on its strengths –innovation, localisation and collaboration. Through ongoing investments in R&D, partnerships and digital tools, it remains committed to scaling its operations while reducing emissions and fostering inclusion.

Among the many innovations that support emission reduction, Suzlon’s blade aerodynamics and hybrid wind-solar projects stand out. These developments not only improve efficiency but directly contribute to tackling global warming by offsetting fossil fuel dependency.

For Chalasani and the broader Suzlon leadership team, the company’s mission goes beyond megawatts and revenue. It is about redefining how the world thinks about energy – shifting the narrative from scarcity and pollution to abundance and sustainability. As he puts it, “We are not just generating power, we are powering a future where growth and sustainability go hand in hand.”

COPPER S.A.

of not just extracting resources but also uplifting the communities it operates in.

By actively partnering with local subcontractors, Kamoa Copper is demonstrating how international mining companies can engage with local businesses to promote sustainable development. This collaboration is crucial in a region where mining has historically been associated with exploitation and minimal local benefit.

A Powerhouse in Operations

The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex, Kamoa Copper's main site, has quickly established itself as a significant player in the global copper market. With state of the art facilities and rich mineral resources, the complex produced an impressive 393,551 tonnes of copper concentrate in 2023 alone. The company is on track to become one of the largest copper producers globally, with aspirations to reach an annual production rate of 800,000 tonnes in the near future.

Kamoa Copper operates as a partnership that includes Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%), and the Government of the DRC (20%). Located in the Central African Copperbelt, the DRC is renowned for its abundant copper and cobalt deposits, making it a critical player in the mining industry.

From its inception, Kamoa Copper has prioritised efficiency and innovation. In May 2024, the company proudly announced the completion of the Phase 3 concentrator at the KamoaKakula Copper Complex, achieving this milestone ahead of schedule and on budget. This advancement significantly increases the company's annual copper production capacity. Robert Friedland, Founder and Executive Co-Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines, remarked, “We are exploring ways to boost our copper production towards our next goal of 800,000 tonnes per year. This will bring significant value to our stakeholders and shareholders.”

Crafting Luxury Through Legacy, Personalisation, and Sustainability 1926 le soleil

Luxury Farm Resorts: The Next Glamorous Getaway Accomodation

The Kings Head Inn, Brooke: A Commitment to Freshness and Sustainability Food & Drink

CRAFTING LUXURY THROUGH LEGACY, ANDPERSONALISATION, SUSTAINABILITY

From legacy to luxury, the 1926 Hotel Collection is a shining example of how personal history and heartfelt dedication can transform into a world-class hospitality experience.

The 1926 brand was created as a tribute to the owner’s father. This is not just a marketing angle; it is a genuine celebration of a man whose life, passions, and values continue to inspire every decision made by the team. Olga explains, “The brand is deeply personal. Each property, each experience is imbued with a sense of family legacy. It’s about honouring the past while embracing the future.” This philosophy sets the collection apart in a crowded market where many luxury hotels struggle to offer something truly authentic.

The flagship property, 1926 Le Soleil, is named after the father, Sunny, which means ‘sun’ in French. This choice symbolises warmth, light, and positivity, the very spirit the hotel strives to embody. Another example is the Margo restaurant, named after the owner’s favourite wine, reflecting a passion for refined tastes and meaningful stories. It is this attention to detail and storytelling that elevates the guest experience from mere accommodation to something truly memorable.

Olga’s role as Chief Commercial Officer has evolved alongside the brand. She recalls being involved in the final stages of Le Soleil’s opening, witnessing firsthand the meticulous preparation that would become a hallmark of the collection. Since then, the group’s rapid growth and success have been impressive, particularly in the culinary arena. The rooftop restaurant Le GV earned a coveted Michelin star within just six months of opening, a feat that few establishments manage.

“This achievement was part of a long-held vision,” Olga notes. “We knew that to stand out, we needed to offer something unique and uncompromising in quality. LeGV’s concept, a chef’s table experience that changes daily, based on fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced locally, was crafted with that in mind.” The restaurant’s stunning location on a rooftop overlooking the sea and Valletta’s historic port adds another layer of magic, combining spectacular views with innovative cuisine.

But the 1926 Collection is about more than Michelin stars. It is about creating immersive, personalised experiences that cater to every guest’s desires. Olga explains, “We don’t just offer rooms; we curate journeys. Every guest is unique, and we want them to feel that from the moment they book. We send out a pre-arrival survey to understand their preferences, likes, and dislikes, which helps us prepare a stay tailored entirely to them.” This level of attention ensures visitors feel seen and valued, forging a genuine connection rather than a transactional relationship.

One of the collection’s standout facilities is 1926 La Plage Beach Club, where the atmosphere shifts gracefully from relaxed daytime beach leisure to refined evening dining. “Many beach clubs focus heavily on parties and loud music, but our approach is different,” Olga says. “We prioritise calm luxury, attentive service, and great food. It’s a place to unwind, to savour the moment, and to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.”

Sustainability is woven throughout the collection’s operations. The SAVE initiative, Sunny’s Voice for the Environment, guides efforts to reduce environmental impact while enhancing guest experience. Hotels are plastic-free, using refillable toiletries, and creative reuse of linens is standard practice, worn sheets are transformed into slippers or cleaning cloths. The landscaping at La Plage features endemic plants selected to thrive naturally in Malta’s climate, supporting local biodiversity and minimizing water use.

Technology also plays a vital role in enhancing comfort and convenience. The hotel app allows guests to check in before arrival, use their phone as a room key, and communicate directly with staff for requests or information. “We want technology to feel effortless and invisible,” says Olga. “It should never replace human connection, only free us to offer more personalised and attentive service.”

Looking ahead, the 1926 Collection plans further expansion, with two new hotels set to open this year and international

1926 LE SOLEIL

HOSPITALITY

ambitions on the horizon. Olga is clear that growth will never come at the expense of the brand’s founding values. “The owner remains deeply involved to ensure we honour the legacy while evolving. Our goal is to maintain the warmth, personal touch, and sustainability ethos, no matter where we open next.”

Ultimately, what defines the 1926 Hotel Collection is the sense of belonging it creates. Olga sums it up perfectly: “We want every guest to feel that they’re more than a visitor, they’re part of a family, welcomed with warmth and care. LUXURY FARM RESORTS:

The concept of farm life has evolved dramatically, shifting from its traditional, hard-working roots to a luxurious, back-to-nature lifestyle that attracts both urbanites and celebrities alike. Luxury farm resorts are now the next big thing in travel, offering a unique blend of rustic charm and upscale living, often with price tags as high as $3,000 per night. This trend appeals to those seeking wellness, sustainability, and an authentic experience without the gruelling labor of farm life.

In the past, farm life may have evoked images of long hours of hard work: feeding animals, planting crops, and dealing with the elements. However, today's farm-based getaways promise a more refined experience. Think of modern farmhouses with state-ofthe-art kitchens, culinary experiences featuring organic, locally grown produce, and leisure activities like fly fishing, horseback riding, and golf, all set within the idyllic confines of vast countryside estates.

One such example is Blackberry Farm in Tennessee, where guests can enjoy a luxurious stay amidst the Great Smoky Mountains. The 4,200-acre property offers world-class amenities, including a 170,000-strong wine cellar,

fly fishing, and horseback riding, with rooms priced from $1,000 to $3,000 per night. Similarly, in Portugal's São Lourenço do Barrocal, guests can retreat to a serene farm setting surrounded by olive trees, livestock, and even a nearby stargazing location. Meanwhile, Flora Farms in Mexico and the upcoming Moncayo in Puerto Rico also provide guests with the opportunity to experience farm life in luxurious surroundings.

At the heart of many of these agrarian retreats is a focus on food. Wildflower Farms, located in New York's picturesque Hudson Valley, has created a luxurious escape that blends farming with fine dining. Guests can participate in hands-on activities such as focaccia-making, beekeeping, and cooking classes, where they use the very ingredients harvested on-site. The farm also offers harvest dinners, where the ingredients come directly from the land, prepared by top chefs like Flynn McGarry

For those looking for a more permanent retreat, Moncayo in Puerto Rico is set to feature 400 residences alongside a 100-acre farm, golf courses, and luxury amenities. This project will combine luxury living with regenerative

agriculture, a practice that focuses on restoring and enhancing the land. Additionally, a portion of the farm’s produce will be shared with local communities, making this project not only a haven for guests but also a source of local sustainability.

The growing interest in agritourismtourism centred around agricultural activities, is reshaping the luxury travel market. According to Fortune Business Insights, the global agritourism market, valued at $69.2 billion in 2019, is expected to grow to $197.4 billion by 2032. The allure of farm stays has surged in recent years, with platforms like Airbnb reporting a 71% increase in farm-stay listings between 2019 and 2024. With over a million searches for farm stays in early 2025, this trend is becoming a mainstream travel option.

Influencers and Celebrities Rebrand Farm Life

The appeal of farm life is being amplified by social media influencers and celebrities, who have helped rebrand farming from a hard, manual job to an aspirational lifestyle. Influencers like Hannah Neeleman of Ballerina Farm have amassed millions of followers by showcasing a pastoral lifestyle filled

with farm-to-table meals, sustainable practices, and idyllic family moments. Similarly, celebrities such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, Brie Larson, and Shailene Woodley have embraced rural living, often sharing glimpses of their own country estates with their followers.

The growing celebrity interest in farming has also made this lifestyle more aspirational. Lenny Kravitz, for example, has become well-known for his off-grid Brazilian farm, which was featured in Architectural Digest. This trend is not just a passing fancy; it's a growing movement that draws attention to a simpler, more sustainable way of life.

A Sustainable and Authentic Experience

The appeal of these luxury farm resorts goes beyond just indulgence. Allyson Rees, a senior strategist at WGSN, believes that these stays offer "more authentic experiences" and contribute positively to mental health. People are increasingly looking for vacation experiences that allow them to reconnect with nature, experience true sustainability, and learn about food production.

Many farm resorts are also committed to regenerative agricultural practices. At Moncayo in Puerto Rico, the resort plans to partner with local universities and farmers to promote local, sustainable farming methods. Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the land, participating in activities such as harvesting and even learning about the science of regenerative agriculture.

Slow Living and Self-Sufficiency

Another reason why luxury farm stays are on the rise is due to the shift toward slow living, a movement that encourages people to slow down, disconnect from the fast-paced modern world, and embrace a more self-sufficient lifestyle. During the pandemic, many people sought out quieter, rural retreats away from urban life, contributing to the popularity of agritourism.

At properties like Wildflower Farms, the slow-living ethos is central to the experience. Guests can take part in organic farming, beekeeping, and cooking classes, learning the true value of food and where it comes from. This approach to luxury travel goes beyond simply being "off the beaten path", it allows guests to engage deeply with the land and immerse themselves in the rhythms of rural life.

The Future of Agritourism

While luxury farm resorts may be expensive, they offer something rare in today’s travel landscape: a chance to step away from the noise of city life and reconnect with nature in a meaningful way. For those seeking authenticity, sustainability, and wellness, farm resorts provide a rare opportunity to experience the fruits of the land without the toil. As agritourism continues to grow, it is likely that more luxury properties will embrace this model, offering a refined, peaceful escape with a strong connection to the land and the food it produces.

Whether it’s through activities like truffle-hunting in Umbria, wine tasting in Tennessee, or learning how to bake bread at Wildflower Farms, the future of luxury tourism is bound to be shaped by the rustic charm and regenerative practices of the farm-to-table lifestyle.

With luxury farm stays increasing in popularity, it’s clear that the allure of agritourism is here to stay, offering guests the rare opportunity to embrace slow living, sustainability, and connection to nature, all while enjoying the comforts of high-end luxury.

THE KINGS HEAD INN, BROOKE: A Commitment to Freshness

and Sustainability

KING’S HEAD INN, BROOKE

Nestled in the charming village of Brooke in Norfolk, the Kings Head Inn stands as a beacon of sustainability, heritage, and exceptional local produce. The pub and its attached Stow Park Farm represent a dream turned reality for Peter, Karen and Harry, who embarked on an ambitious journey to connect people with the food they eat and the land that produces it.

What began in 2019 as a vision for an organic farm has blossomed into a thriving family business that brings together the best of Norfolk’s seasonal ingredients. With a deep commitment to freshness, sustainability, and tradition, the trio have turned the Kings Head Inn into a model for eco-conscious hospitality.

Peter’s journey to the Kings Head Inn began when he sold his long-established business in Loddon, seeking a fresh start with his wife Karen. They had always dreamed of running a farm, but with no prior experience in agriculture, the couple found themselves venturing into new

territory. “Our idea was to own a farm, focus on organic practices, and produce high-quality food,” Peter recalled.

After months of searching, they found Stow Park Farm in Bungay. Despite its challenges, including a complex legal process, they were determined to make it their own. Not long after purchasing the farm, the opportunity to acquire the Kings Head pub arose. The pub, however, was in poor condition. “It was falling down,” Peter explained. “But despite the state it was in, we knew there was potential.”

As newcomers to the world of hospitality, Peter and Karen knew that this wasn’t just about running a pub; it was about creating something special—an experience that would connect people to the food they ate and the land from which it came. Over the next 3.5 years, they meticulously restored the Kings Head Inn, transforming it into a sustainable and eco-friendly pub and accommodation venue.

A central tenet of the Kings Head’s operations is its commitment to seasonality. The motto “fresh and in season” is more than just a guiding principle for the kitchen; it’s an ethos that influences every decision made at the pub.

“We believe in growing, serving, and eating what’s in season,” Peter explained. “It’s important to us that our food is as fresh as possible and comes from local sources. But we also want to make sure that we’re serving food that’s in its natural cycle.” This philosophy is reflected in the ever-changing menu at the Kings Head, which is built around what’s available from their own farm as well as other local producers.

The farm provides a rich array of seasonal produce, but this requires careful planning. “We sit down with the chefs at the beginning of the year, look through the seed cards, and decide what we’re going to grow,” Peter said. “We try to strike a balance between the chefs’ needs and my desire to grow things that are a bit more unusual, like purple potatoes or pretty flowers.”

Despite the challenges, this commitment to seasonality is at the heart of the Kings Head’s success. “The chefs are always asking if certain ingredients are coming

in,” Peter laughed. “And when they do come in, it’s often all at once. For example, we’ll harvest pounds of raspberries at a time. But when that happens, we find ways to preserve the glut—jams, chutneys, and even flavoured gins.”

The connection between the Kings Head and Stow Park Farm is undeniable. Located just up the road from the pub, the farm provides much of the produce and livestock that appears on the menu. This close relationship between farm and pub not only guarantees that the food served is fresh and local, but it also allows guests to experience the farm-to-table concept in a very real way.

“The farm is the foundation of everything we do,” said Peter. “From the pigs, sheep, and cows to the vegetables, herbs, and honey, it’s all grown or raised here. We don’t just want to serve fresh food—we want to serve food that’s been produced with care and respect for the land.”

This dedication to local, high-quality ingredients is evident in every dish. “Our pigs live in a 15-acre wood where they can root around naturally,” Peter explained. “They’re raised slowly and humanely, and they contribute to the health of the land. It’s all part of a bigger cycle.”

One of the most distinctive features of Stow Park Farm is its hands-on, slow approach to farming. Rather than following the industrial model of mass production, Peter and his team focus on the care and attention required to produce high-quality, sustainable food.

“We rear rare breed livestock, and I collect the eggs every day,” Peter explained. “It’s a labour of love. I go to the farm twice a day, sometimes even four times, to collect the eggs and check on the animals. It’s a slower approach, but it’s the right approach for us.”

The slower pace also contributes to the superior flavour and quality of the food. “Our duck eggs, for example, are richer than chicken eggs,” Peter noted. “They’re used in a lot of our dishes, especially

desserts, like the Gypsy tart, which we’ve adapted using duck eggs instead of chicken eggs. It’s a traditional dish with a modern twist.”

The menu at the Kings Head is a celebration of Norfolk’s seasonal produce, with a focus on high-quality, local ingredients. “At the moment, we have a Honey Smash dessert on the menu,” said Peter. “It features four different elements of honey from the farm, showcasing the sweetness and versatility of our local produce.”

Other standout dishes include wild venison spring rolls, made with deer from a local park, and bespoke Stow Park pork burgers. The pub also offers a variety of drinks made with farm-grown ingredients, including their own fruit-flavoured gins, such as rhubarb, raspberry, and mixed berries.

“We’ve also teamed up with a local charcuterie producer, Marsh Pig” Peter said. “We worked together to create a range of products, including chorizo, salami, and pancetta, all made from our pigs. These will be available on the menu soon, and we’re really excited about it.”

For those interested in something more

unusual, the pub offers lamb bacon—a specialty that few places can claim to serve. “We produce our own lamb bacon, which is used in our lamb burger,” said Peter. “It’s something unique to the Kings Head, and it really shows off what Norfolk has to offer.”

Sustainability is not just a buzzword for the Kings Head; it’s a core value that runs through everything they do, from how the pub was refurbished to the way the farm operates.

“We run electric gators on the farm, which are powered by a combination of solar and wind energy,” Peter explained. “We have a solar panel system and a wind turbine, so we can power our vehicles sustainably. We also collect rainwater in buried tanks, which we use on the garden and for the animals. It’s all about being as selfsufficient as possible.”

The commitment to sustainability also extends to the way the farm produces food. “We don’t use chemicals or artificial fertilisers,” said Peter. “We rely on nature to do the work for us. Our animals graze on the land, and their waste helps fertilise the soil naturally.”

KING’S HEAD INN, BROOKE

This commitment to sustainability is reflected in the Kings Head’s décor as well. “We’ve used wood from the farm to build furniture and the bar,” Peter said. “Everything we’ve done here is in line with our values of sustainability and environmental responsibility.”

One of the most powerful aspects of the Kings Head is its ability to reconnect people with their food. It’s not just about serving a meal; it’s about telling a story—one that highlights the hard work, dedication, and sustainability behind each dish.

“We want our guests to know where their food comes from,” Peter said. “We’re not just serving food—we’re sharing a story. When people come to the pub, we tell them about the farm, the animals, and the land. It’s a way to help them understand the importance of where their food comes from.”

This focus on storytelling is something that resonates with guests. “When they realise just how local and fresh everything is, they’re really appreciative,” said Peter. “They love hearing the story behind the food, and they’re often surprised by how much care goes into everything we serve.”

Looking ahead, Peter, Karen and Harry have big plans for both the Kings Head and Stow Park Farm. “We’ve been renovating the farm for five years, and now we’re finally ready to move into the house,” Peter said. “Once we’re settled, Karen has

plans to open a farm shop or vegetable box scheme to sell our produce directly to the public. We’ve also been considering producing our own beer, using local maltings. There’s always something bubbling away.”

With their commitment to sustainability, local produce, and exceptional hospitality, the trio are shaping the future of the Kings Head and Stow Park Farm. Their approach is one that’s rooted in tradition but is also forward-thinking, offering a unique and sustainable way of dining and connecting with the land.

The Kings Head Inn and Stow Park Farm are a testament to the power of reconnecting with nature, embracing sustainability, and celebrating local produce. Peter, Karen and Harry’s dedication to seasonality, sustainability, and tradition is evident in every aspect of their business, from the farm to the pub. Their passion for what they do is not just reflected in the food they serve but also in the way they’ve transformed a historic pub into a place where guests can truly experience the story of their food.

In a world where convenience often trumps quality, the Kings Head and Stow Park Farm offer a refreshing reminder that great food starts with great ingredients— and a deep respect for the land that produces them.
