Frank A. Moore has opened a lumber yard at Wasco, Calif. He will be assisted in the business by his faither, Burton Moore, a veteran lumberman.

Frank J. Connolly, sales mantager, Westert Hardwood Lumlber Co., Iros Angeles, has been elected president of ttre Hardwood Institute of Southern Oalifornia, succeeding W. B. Jones, who recently resigned.

Will Jenkins & Sons recently opened a retail lumber yard one mile north of Salinas on Highway 101. Jenkins was formerly with Salinas Lumiber tCo.

Brian Bonnington, son of C. J. "Jerry" Bonnington, of Lamon & Bonnington, San tr'ra.ncisco, worked two months in the mill of McCloud River Lumber Co., McCloud, Calif., during his school vacation, He will enter college in the fall.

Tom Dant, head of the lumber deparLment cvf Dant & Russell, Portland, spent a few dayo at the company's San Francisco and Los Angeles offices recently.

Berny F. Matthies and Paul B. Fritchy recantly organized the Palm Avenue Lumber C,o., Inc., and have purchased the land, buildings a^nd holdings of J. W. & C. Shull Co., in Alhambra, Calif. Mr. Matthies continues as manager and Mr. Friohey is in charge of sales. Both were with the Shull yard for the past 10 years.

Western Sash & Door Co., Oakland, Calif., celebrated their 26th anniversary this month.

C. W. Pinkerton was elected secretary and manager of the Southern California Retail Lumbermen's Association at a recent meeting of the board o,f directors.

Sam Thomas is now in charge of shipping and office sales for American Hardwood Co., Iroc Angeles.

M. L. "Mort" Booth is now covering bhe Sacramento and San Joaquin Valley territory for Gorman LumberCo., San Francisco.

A. D. Bell, Jr., in charge of Eastern sales for Hammond Redwood, San Francisco, and Walter S. Newhall of McCormick Steamship Co., San Francisco, recently sa.iled a 30-foot Bird boat from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. They were reportedly stranded when the wind dropped and it took them eight days to make,the trip. The hungry palr opened their last can of beans just off Santa Barbara.

&l French has bought out his partner's interest in the tStockton Mill & Lumber Co.. Stockton, Oalif.

Louis Giottonini a^nd Jim Horton have opened a new retail yad to be called the Valley Lurnber & Supply Co. in Stockton, Calif.

C. S. Scribner has joined the sales staff of Tacoma Lumber Sales, Los Angeles.

Ira E. Brink, manager of yards and stores, has announced that Diamond Match Co. has purchased yards of General Supply Co. at North Sacramento and Fair Oaks' Calif. Ililmar llauge will manage the North Sacramento yard and Chester Hinshaw will be in charge at the Fair Oaks yard.

Jack Williams, secretary of the California Redwood Association, recently spent his vacation in Southern California.

Napa Lumber Co,, Napa, Calif., has purchased the McKinnon-McNair Lumber Company's yard at St. Helena, Calif. They will eontinue to operate the yard as the St Helena Lum,ber Co., with J. E. Clark, formerly at their Calistoga yard, ast manag:er. r#. E. Arblaster, general manager of Mt. Whitney Lumber Co., Los Angeles, recently returned from a successf,ul big game hunting trip in Western Canada.

R. T. "Dick Stockton" Salinas, has moved to a larger warehouse and store. ttJust growing with Salinas," said Stockton.

George Clough, general salcs manager and Cy \ilardle galesman for San Pedro Lumber have returned from e three-weeks business and pleasure trip.

Walter Harris of Lounsberry & Harris, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Harris have returned from a Glacier Park vacation. They traveled by automobile.
