MIttER REDWOOD JOINS CRA

NIILLER REDWOOD Company of CresJVr cent City, Cali fornia. is a new member of the Caiifornia Redwood Association, Philip T. Farnsworth, CRA executive vice president has announced, The new membership was unanimously approved by the other members of the redwood lumber trade group.

With the opening of its Crescent City sawmill in May, the Miller Redwood Company started the first phase in a S-year program to develop an $B-million lumber manufacturing complex.

The new mill is the most modern in the industry, introducing several innovations. One of these is a tilting chain which brings the lumber up to an angular position in front of the grader, allowing him a far better view of each piece. Others are a mechanical barker and a log splitter in front of the headrig.

The Miller Redwood holdinss include 2{,,000 acres of timber in the MiI Creek watershed in Del Norte County, California. The plant and adjacent timberlands are to operate as a sustained yield unit designed to utilize all of the products of the forest, from bark to basic chemicals.
