LIGHIING PROBLEM in new hardware and oaint department (top left) was licked by inset wall panels (left wall) with white opaque fiberglass in the inset to bring in natural light. 0rville Cooper points (right) to redwood blocks glued on fiberglass which diffuse natural light allowed into store by inset wall panels. Genial proprietor Burt Gartin (center left) comes from a lumber family and started his career in 1922 with Modesto Lumber Company. He and partner John Ward started Home Lumber Yard, Inc. at 3rd and B Streets in'[urlock in 1937. With the recent retirement of John Ward, Leroy Ward (right) has followed his dad into the business. Bookkeeper. Mrs. Anderson (lower left), in attractive new patio area. Design uses 4x4 posts, with 4x4 blocks extending 4" either side between posts. Patio is finished with Cabot driftwood stain and has used brick floor.
