have been invited to attend the full-day meeting and discuss their local problems and learn what is happening in other parts of the country.

- Similar meetings will be held in Seattle, Sept. 11, and later in Great Falls, Mont., and Salt Lake City, Utah. About 20 of these state or regional meetings have been scheduled since the first of June, culminating with the west-coast groups.

NBMDA Sets | 958 Convention For Chicogo, November 9-12

The board of directors of the National Building Material Distributors Association, meeting in Des Moines on August 5, announced the dates of their seventh annual Fall convention for the Sheraton hotel in Chicago, Illinois, on November 9-10-lI-12. T. J. Dougherty of Cincinnati, Ohio, president of NBMDA, stated that plans were being made to convene over 600 wholesale distributors of building rnaterial in 42 states, as well as sales representatives of the national manufacturers.

The formal program starting on November 10 will bring together NBMDA members frorn every section in the country and the day rvill be spent in discttssing current distribution problems affecting the wholesalers' operations. A round table discussion on "The Wholesale Distributor-Survival or Suicide?" will highlight the first day's program. An "Early-Bird Get-Together" will follow the first day's affair, and the Novem- ber 11 meeting will be open to all manufacturers of building materials in attendance. Outstanding national speakers will discuss current economic and national problems affecting the business of the wholesale distributor.

The formal program concludes with a reception and group dinner the evening of November 11. The annual "Nuts and Bolts Session" for distributors will finalize the four-day program on the morning of November 12. Ventura County building construction rose to $13,405,207 in this year's second quarter, compared to $8,359,859 in the first three months. 674 permits at $7,333,005 were issued for residential units during April-May-June, compared to 454 at $4,728,754 in the year's first quarter.
