country. The new agreement licenses lumber dealers for the manufacture and sale of Lu-Re-Co components (exterior wall panels, interior partitions, and roof trusses), in three categories. These are: manufacturerdistributor, manufacturer-dealer, and dealer.
The F.H.A. Engineering Bulletin, published recently, details firm standards of quality in determining the accept- ability for mortgage insurance of houses constructed in accordance with the Lu-Re-Co system.
"All Lu-Re-Co comoonent units must conform to the F.H.A. Engineering Bulletin standards," says Mr. Thompson, "to receive the Lumber Dealers Research Council's Shield of Approval." This means assured quality for manufacturers, dealers and customers, with jobi which will pass F.I{.A. and other requirements, including local codes, with much greater speed."
The Lu-Re-Co Service Association will handle all details in the licensing of retail lumber dealers as Lu-Re-Co dealers and the distribution of the identifying Shield of Approval which will be attached to every component which meets the standards set forth. The association will also disseminate information concerning research and development in reduction of housing costs and will promote the use of improved methods in housing construction.
