Haruy M. Seaman Visits California

Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Seaman, of Houston, Texas, were recent visitors for a week in Los Angeles and San Francisco. They were returning home from a meeting of the Directors o{ the National Lumber Manufacturers Association, held in Portland, Oregon, on the 9th and 10th of the month.

Mr. Seaman is President of The Southern Pine Association and a Director of the National. Actively he is Vice President and General Manager of the Kirby Lumber Corporation, of Houston, rvhich has for nearly fifty years been the largest lumber producing company in the entire South. This concern now operates five large sawmills in East Texas, cutting both Southern Pine and hardwoods.

Federal Rererve Revives \(/artime Regulation "W"

The Federal Reserve is reviving its wartime Regulation "W", and effective September mer'chants who sell on the installment plan will find it somewhat harder to do business. These rules will affect banks and loan companies as well as retail merchants.

This Regulation was discontinued last November first, but was ordered revived by the recently passed anti-inflation bill. Authorities on such matters do not expect the revival of this Regulation to cut down installment sales and loans to any great extent. In the years before the Regulation rvas cancelled such types of business was increasing, in ,spite of the Regulation, so this may be only a mild gesture.

Atkinson-Stutz Co. Announces Additions to Stall

E. W. Gould rvill represent Atkinson-Stutz Co. in the Willamette Valley and Southern Oregon territory, with headquarters in Eugene, Oregon. He has had sawmill experience, and was with E. K. Wood Lumber Co., Los Angeles, for 10 years

George M. Walmsley, former sales manager of Jones Lumber Co., Portland, is now representing Atkinson-Stutz Co. in Portland and adjacent territory. He has a large acquaintance in the Northwest, and is also well known to many California lumber dealers.
