Orville R. Miller, lumber industrv leader, passed away in Portland, August 7, following a brief illness. He was 55.

A native of Dixon, Ill., he had lived there about 3O years.

He was a director of the First National bank and Standard Insurance company, president of the Deep River Timber Cornpany, vice president of the Wauna Lumber Company, and secretary of the Mount Jefferson Lumber Corporation. He also was associated with the Koster Products Company.

During two war years as president of the West Coast Lumbermen's association he played an active role in formulating the West Coast industry's large-scale tree farming and forest conservation program'

Survivors are his wife, Kathryn; son, Walter, of Lyons, three brothers, Earl, Roy, and Harold, of California, and two grandchildren-
