Left above, 200 on Saturday cruise of the Pacific Northwest Writers Conference, University of Washington, Seattle, troop ashore for lunch at the hotel of the Pope & Talbot, Inc. lumber operation, Port Gamble, Washington, Jtlv 24, 1948. The writers made a lawn party of the luncheon. They were interested in the history of the company, which has been operating continuously at Port Gamble since 1853, and in the 60.000 acre Hood Canal Tree Farm.
