Los Angeles Home Building Greater Than That Ol lS States ln The Nation
Figures released by the United States Department of Commerce show some very ir.rterestirrg facts and figures concerning home building in the Citl' of I-os Angeles.
During the first four months of this year Los Angeles built .10,635 homes, u'hich is more than rvere built by any state in the union excepting Nerv York, California and Texas. In other rvords, none o{ the other 45 states in the nation built as rnany homes as the City of Los Angeles alone.
During tl.rat sarne period the State of California built 36,173 homes, which was approxirnately one-fifth the nttmber of homes built by all 48 states, and a fifty per cent increase over 1947.
Besides Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Diego ranked high in home building, the former building 1,204 homes during the four month period mentioned, and San Diego 1.590.
