Shasta Plywood, Inc. Estimates 1950 Production at 48 Million Feet

Shasta Plywood, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of United States Plywood Corporation, had a production in 1949 of 46 million feet on a 3r(" rough basis. Of this 34 million was pine and 12 million fir.

Gene Brewer, manager of Shasta Plywood, estimates production for 1950 at 48 million, with 32 million being pine and 16 million feet fir. The pine production is divided equally between Ponderosa and Sugar pine. The fir is principally Douglas fir, a large part of which is manufactured into sheathing grades. It is Mr. Brewer's belief that this is the only plywood plant manufacturing Sugar pine plywood in any quantity. The bulk of it is made in 3/4" thickness for use as cupboard doors and cabinet fixture work. California pine is recognized as being highly desirable for enameling and paint work.

The production of Shasta Plywood, Inc., is distributed nationally through the sales offices of the United States Plyrvood Corporation.
