Los Angeles Hoo-Hoo Golf Tournament and Dinner Meeting

The Los Angeles Hoo-Hoo Club held a golf tournament and dinner meeting at the Lakewood Country Club, North Long Beach, on Friday June 16. As this was the last Club party before the summer recess there was a good turnout. 71 golfers 'took part in the tournament and 125 were on hand for the evening festivities.

llob Osgood and Jack Bergstrom tied for the low gross honors, each turning in a score of 76, and they were presented with merchandise orders for $5.00 and three golf balls.

A concatenation n'as held at 5 :59 p.m. and trventy Kittens were initiated.

A11 prizes were merchandise orders.

President Tom Fox presided at the business meeting. A minute of silence was observed by the group in memory of the late J. A. (Al) Privett. John Lipani presented the golf prizes.

Music and songs by the Glee Gates Trio was greatly enjoyed by the gathering.

Second Annuql Beqch Pcrty

The San Diego Hoo-Hoo Club will hold its second annual Beach Party at Solana Beach on Sunday, July 16. There will be plenty of fish and other eats, also games, refreshments, and prizes. The Beach Party is one of the popular attractions staged by the Club and a big crowd is expected.

Hqppy Event

Mr. and Mrs. H. Truxtun Jones are receiving congratulations from their friends on the birth of a baby boy, Bradley Truxtun Jones, at Peralta Hospital, Oakland. Bradley weighed in at 7 lbs., 10 oz. They already have a daughter. Mr. Jones is sales manag'er of Western Door & Sash Co., Oakland.

Ten Employees Honored for Completion OF 25 Years of Service

Ten employees of the Calaveras Cement Company were honored recently for their completion of 25 years of service to the firm.

Company President William Wallace Mein presented gold watches and engra..'ed silver fobs to each of the men, and a leather traveling case to Miss Elaine V. Buckland, the only woman in the group. The awards were made at an anniversary luncheon in the company's .famous Kentucky House at San Andreas, Calif.

At the conclusion of the ceremonies, Vice President H. C. Magin, chairman of the company's management committee, presented a watch and fob to Mr. Mein in recognition of his 25 years of leadership as company president since he founded it in 1925.

The presentations were made to James R. Casey, sales engineer ; Louis Armstrong, shovel operator; E,dward A. Bacigalupi, shift forernan; Charles G. Brown, quarry foreman; George W. Hengen, laboratory analyst; Robert P. Perry, Driller; Glenn M. Walker, shift foreman; James G. Waters, mechanic, and Joseph Tedesco, secretary-treasurer of the company. Miss Buckland is a secretary in the comDanv's head office in San Francisco.
