AITC ro Hold Ninrh Annuol Meeting
The American Institute of Timber Construction will hold its 9th Annual l\{eeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 15 to 19. The meeting theme, "Industry Prosperity Through Quality Control," rvill feature prominent speakers from the industry who will elaborate on AITC's proposed Quality Control ancl Inspection Program.
The Q. C. and I Program has been under development for more tl-ran two years. Formal qualification inspection of members' plants by AITC's newly created Inspection Bureau is expected to begin sometime after the Annual Meeting. The purpose of this qualification inspection is to ascertain whether the plants can meet the requirements of the program and, if not, what changes mrrst be made in their operations prior to licensing then-r to use AITC's quality marks and certificates.

In the Match Play, King vvon by clefault in the lower bracket, his opponent, Bob-Osgood-being in Carrada playing a tournament at Victoria. Huck beat Alling in the upper bracket. C. M. Johnston, approved by the Boarcl of Directors for membership, displayed a show of power by over-driving the 13th green 277 yards.
The June tournament is set for Ojai, Thursday, Jrrne 15.
Dqvidson-Western Opens Hordwood Lumber Deporfment
Davidson-Western Plvwood will ope-n a hardwood lumbef department under the management of James C. Barron, according to an announcement by Allan E. Boal, General lVlanaser. For many years Davidson-Westirn has been supplying the industrial market with one of the finest inventories of hardwood plywoods. With the addition of this new department, DavidsonWestern will be able to fuifill the requirements of their many customers with various species of domestic and imported lumber, servicing both the large and small buyer.
Kenneth Tincklers Ofi To Englond
Kenneth and Jo Tinckler and their daughter, _C1rolyn, left the evening of May 4 on BOAC for a trip to Englind, where they will visit Mr. Tincller's family.

Jim Barron started in the wood business in 1944 and he formed a firm to manufacture store fixtures in Texas. In 1947 he sold his interest and returned to California, where he ioined Eoddis Plywood in Los Angeles. In February, 1951 he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Sand Door & Plywood, and operated that company until his resignation in I\{arch of this year.

Bill Smirh On Extended Trip
Bill Smith, formerly vice president and general manager Smith-Robbins Corp., l,os Angeles, and wife Barbara, are presently on an extended vacation trip to Jamaica, New York, and other eastern cities. They expect to spend several weeks in the Pacific northwest and Canada before returning to Los Angeles later in the summer.
