Western Lumber Production Climbs

Even after three years of record demand, lumber production at Western sawmills continued to rise during the first six months of 2000, according to the Western Wood Products Association.

At 9.2 billion bd. ft., the 5.17o increase helped expand shipments by 2.77o, though orders remained unchanged from the previous year.

Coastal Oregon and Washington sawmills had the largest production gains, at 7 .8Vo, which boosted shipments by 7.17o, raising orders by 3.97o.
