tfrHE WBMA is continuing its efforts r' along ''grass roots" lines.

At its innual mid-summer meeting July 17-18, the board of directors carefully reviewed the evaluation of association functions expressed by members who attended the 196? spring district meetings. These evaluations will be pariicularly valuable to your association as a guide for future direction.

The four functions which received the greatest number of "important" ratings by members were:

( I ) Legislation.

(2) Education.

(3) Annual exposition.

(4) W,estern-sponsored district meetings.

It is interesting to note that the efiectiveness and success of WBI\{A in each o{ these functions depends directly upon the participation and efiort of its individual mem'bers.

In legislation, the individual member's expression of opinion and contacts with legislators is a most potent force and es' sential to the success of the WBMA permanent legislative committee and each state's committee. In education, WBMA' sponsored educational programs will be effective only to the extent that members can and will implement them within their own organizations.

The annual exposition can be justified only if members support it by their attendance and participation in all events and product exhibits. District meetings will be worthwhile so long as members are interested in exchanging ideas and views and obtaining essential information to operate profitably and efficiently in a highly competitii'e business.

lineor Method Gels OK

By nearly two to ome, 670 lumber dealers said they would like to see linear methods used in selling lumber. The National Lumber and Building Materials Dealers Association took the survey.

Most dealers felt the linear method would help sell the consumer, but wouldn't help dealers buy.
