Creditors Okay Wickes' Plan
Wickes Cornpanies, Inc. has rcached an agreement in principle with its creditors comrnittecs on a plan ol'reorganization, lvhich u'ould settle virtually all of the company's prc(-hapter ll debt and allorr il ro emergc liom the Chapter 1l bankruptcy proceedings entered April 24, 1982.
The agreement in principle has becn approi,'ed b1,' borh the GambleSkogmo, lnc. (GSK) and The Wickes Corporation (TWC) Credirors Committees. GSK and TWC are Wickes' nvo principal operating subsidiaries. Rcpresenlative5 ol' rhe r arious prirrcipal classes of indebtedness on the committecs, with the solc exceplion of the representatives for the GarribleSkogrno Senior Subordinated Debentures, have all voted to eithcr support, or not oppose, the proposcd plan. In addition, a rnajority of thc membcrs of the Equity Holdcrs Cornntittee has voted to approve thc proposed plan.
The company reportedly has not yet reached agreement rvith the subcommittee representillg the creditors of its Howard Brothers subsidiary involving approximateli' $45 million of tunsecurcd indcbtedncss, rrrirnarilv held by trade creditors.
