MYP2 PHE

In PHE, we have done a lot of different exciting activities. We had a sports day, where all of the Houses participated and were competing to get the most points. We have travelled to many places and played loads of matches with different schools. For example, we went to Austria for a volleyball match. It was very interesting and fun. Overall, PHE this year has been really great. All of us enjoyed it and wish all people in the PHE department an amazing Summer holiday.

Teacher's comment:
This year in MYP2, students have covered various topics to develop their wider understanding of Physical & Health Education. The students engaged in a Basic First Aid unit, Fitness and Training. In practical sports, students looked at Handball, Spikeball and Gymnastics. Developing these foundations will help the students explore these concepts further as they move into MYP3. But for now, I wish MYP2 all the best for summer and as they move into MYP3.

What a class this has been. I took them over in October due to a Timetable reshuffle. I couldn't have picked up a better group of students. We have a range of sporting passions. However, the passion for PHE is excellent. The discussions with Berci about various topics, mainly football, on the way to each venue have entertained Mr Bell and me. This year, we have studied a range of units, from Drugs in Sports, Leadership, Badminton, Skill Acquisition and Athletics through a Higher, faster, further unit. The students have adapted well to each concept and developed this conceptual understanding. With a small group of 10, it's always difficult to play large team games. The students excelled in the Badminton unit. It was a good leveller regarding ability, and the student's efforts were great. In terms of academic excellence, Berci and Sara led the pack. These two students were always diligent and worked incredibly hard, asking questions about accessing the higher levels. All the other students were excellent in different units. Gergo, Akos F and Julius in Leadership. Where the students were given a group of Y1,2 or 3 students to take for their PHE lesson. Seeing all the students entertain, enthuse, and teach our youngest students at BBIS was terrific. A special shout out to Akos K, Akos F and Alexa A for joining the group mid-way through and getting into the swing of the action. Good luck with the next stage as we transition to MYP5 and the E-Portflio assessment.“

I enjoyed the 2023 year’s PHE very much! We tried various sports, including tag rugby, badminton and athletics. Besides this, I would highlight the leadership unit we had close to the end of the year. This unit was quite different from the usual units we have in PHE. While learning about skill acquisition, we had the opportunity to learn how to lead actual PHE lessons like our outstanding teachers. We had lots of fun with these sessions.
