MYP 2 MATHS

We learned many new methods and mathematics this year with Mr. Crawford, Mrs. Porritt, and Mr. Human. We had lots of fun doing activities and classwork while learning new things. We learned algebra, calculations, and methods to help us improve our understanding of maths and develop new useful IB skills.

Message from Mrs. Porritt:

Well done MYP2, you have worked hard learning Maths and also demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and critical thinking as you worked with Mr. Crawford for the first two terms, and then online with Mr. Human for the Summer term.

You have learned about algebra, fractions, statistics, and geometry this year. You made some great posters (like the one to the left) to summarise your learning on fractions. You have been reflective and evaluated your own learningbelow is a screen shot of what you said to Mr. Human about online lessons in Geometry:

Message from Mrs Porritt:

Well done MYP3 for working so hard in Maths this year! You have learned to reflect on your own learning, be realistic about your own abilities and try new strategies for focussing, concentrating, persevering when things get difficult and collaborating with each other. You are ready now to move to different levels of Maths learning in MYP4- Standard Maths to consolidate your skills and improve your confidence, or Extended Maths for those of you who want a challenge!”

My favourite Unit this year was Mathematical Art, where I saw you learn about how Maths and Art can connect. You then expressed yourself by creating your own mathematical art. Here is Bodi’s work, based on his own Hungarian culture:

And here is Leo’s impressive digital art:
