Faculty Recognition

Members of the Brother Martin community and guests gathered for our annual Faculty Recognition Ceremony at the Audubon Tea Room in January. This year, Craig Zeller ‘02 was recognized as the recipient of the Brother More Schaefer, S.C. Faculty Award. This recognition ceremony celebrates ingenuity, innovation, passion, and Christian witness all through the lens of Catholic holistic education rooted in the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.

Gary Giepert ‘80 was recognized as this year’s Founders Medal recipient for his commitment and passion through service to our school that embodies the spirit of our founders. Gary is a longtime supporter of the school and our head rugby coach all while being a constant presence with fellow Alumni and our students.

In addition, faculty members were recognized for years of service at Brother Martin, including Sasha Sevin and Scott Williams ‘90 for 20 years of service. Dominick Caronna ‘85 was recognized for 30 years of service.

Brother Martin High School held its 54th commencement exercises on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the UNO Lakefront Arena honoring the Class of 2023. The commencement celebrated 154 years of the presence of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans and their mission of educational excellence. President Gregory M. Rando ‘77 and Principal Ryan J. Gallagher ‘00 conferred diplomas to 210 graduates who are the legacy of a long tradition of Catholic education in New Orleans under the auspices of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Special academic awards were also presented to graduates for excellence in specific courses, and several graduates were recognized for their service to Brother Martin. Following the distribution of awards and diplomas, Principal Gallagher stated, “Graduates, we now send you out as Ambassadors of good news. May you always draw joy and comfort from your belief in God’s love and your efforts to live it and spread it. And may you always know that you have a home at Brother Martin. Ametur Cor Jesu! Ametur Cor Mariae!”
