Signing Day
Brother Martin’s Great Read this year is Night by Elie Wiesel. In order to prepare for this text, our 8th graders visited the National World War II Museum to learn more about the historical context of the war and the Holocaust.
Our students have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of professional Unmanned Aircraft System operators in our new Aerospace Science course (powered by our NJROTC). Commander Bruce Nolan ‘90 and Senior Chief Petty Officer Romico Barnes direct this program.
National Merit Finalists
Luke Alvendia ’23 and Evan Carter ’23 have been recognized as National Merit Finalists.
Scholastic Writing Awards
Five Brother Martin juniors and members of the Class of 2024 have earned recognition in the Scholastic Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious annual awards program for creative teens. Jason Childs, Sam Dinshaw, Colin Hill, Dylan Rhoton, and Samuel Yuratich each received honors in the first round of competition in the Critical Essay category for the Southeast Louisiana Region.
Athletics Baseball
The Brother Martin High School Holiday Baseball Camp returned for another great year. Coach Jeff Lupo ’92 as well varsity coaching staff and players led the instruction.
Tré Morgan ’20 visited and shared his expertise with our campers.
Cross-Country
Coach Drew Haro ’03 led the Cross-Country Team to a Division I State RunnersUp finish at the LHSAA State Meet. The team placed all five scorers in the top 20. Gabriel Metoyer ’24, Daniel Falk ’24, and Luke Regan ’24 finished 6th, 11th, and 12th, respectively. Eli Levy ’23 and Gabriel Levy ’23 rounded out the team scoring placing 16th and 20th.

Golf
Hunter McDermott ’25 earned 1st place in a two-day Kelly Gibson Golf Tournament at Carter Plantation in the 13-15 division.
Kyle Traub ’24 won the USSSA Masters Challenge at Farm D’Allie golf course in Carencro, LA. Kyle finished first in a field of 28 of the top high school golfers in the state, which is an invitational event.
Tennis
Mark Armbruster ’23 represented Team Louisiana in the Southern Ozaki Junior Cup Tennis Tournament in Rome, Georgia. Team Louisiana won the Spirit Award for solidarity and sportsmanship.
