Plus 50 Mass and Reunion
Alumni and guests gathered for the annual Plus 50 Mass and Reunion at Brother Martin High School in September. This special evening included Reunion festivities for Alumni of 51 years or more from St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu, and Brother Martin High Schools.



The evening began with Mass in the James B. Branton Chapel celebrated by Father Andrew Sanchez ’03.

At the conclusion of Mass, Advancement and Alumni Relations Director Kenny Spellman ’84 recognized special guests including President Greg Rando ‘77 and Director of Strategic Planning for Advancement Justin Fleetwood. Kenny then invited Brother Bernie Couvillion, S.C., and Brother Paul Montero, S.C. to share a few words with the Alumni.
Special recognition was also given to classes celebrating anniversaries – The St. Aloysius Classes of 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, and 1967 as well as the Cor Jesu Classes of 1957, 1962, and 1967. James Marquette ’62 CJ of Holiday Island, Arkansas was recognized as the Alumnus who traveled the farthest to attend the celebration. Jim Quigley ’42 was recognized as Alumnus from the earliest class.

Following Mass, a reception was held in the Benson Mall with catering by Scot Craig ‘80 of Katie’s and the Culinary Crusaders. There was

Veterans Day
Commander Bruce Nolan ‘90, USN (Ret.), Senior Chief Romico J. Barnes, USN (Ret.), NJROTC Cadets, and guests were present at the flagpole in The Backyard for the wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Chief Petty Officer Jacques Fontan ’86, who will always be remembered and prayed for by our Brother Martin family. The Crusader Band played the National Anthem as the Cadets saluted and the Color Guard raised the Colors. As the last note of the anthem played, a moment of silence fell among the crowd while family brought a wreath to the plaque commemorating Chief Fontan’s service.

Alumni Dads Lunches



Alumni dads were welcomed back to campus at the Alumni Dad/Son Lunches in the Tom and Gayle Benson Mall. These lunches provide another opportunity to say “thank you” to our Alumni dads, and it gives them a chance to visit campus during regular school hours.


Advancement and Alumni Relations Director Kenny Spellman ’84 and Associate Director of Alumni Relations Chris Heine ’03 welcomed everyone to campus and were able to spend time with our grads while they enjoyed lunch with their sons.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate the annual Sacré Coeur Society Mass in late October in the James B. Branton ’74 Chapel.
Before Mass, Brother Bernard Couvillion, S.C and Kenny Spellman ’84, Advancement and Alumni Relations Director, presented a special gift to all attendees while Gillen Briede, Gifts Manager, announced the names of the Sacré Coeur members.
Msgr. Andrew C. Taormina ’54 SA celebrated the Mass, and Jane Ann Frosh and Chris Alley ’08 provided the music. Brother Martin Student Ambassadors and Student Ministers also assisted with the ceremony under the direction of Campus Minister Mark Bordelon.
After Mass, Michael Flick ’66 SA shared encouraging words about why his family chose to tie his parents’ legacy to Brother Martin High School, and Greg Rando ’77, President of Brother Martin High School, thanked everyone for supporting Brother Martin in their loved ones’ honor.
