Brookhurst International Schools has once again proven its academic prowess by dominating the recent World Scholar's Cup Nairobi Regional Competition. The school secured an impressive total of 8 trophies across both junior and senior divisions, marking its third consecutive year as the top-performing team.
The Kiserian campus senior team clinched five trophies, while the junior teams, led by Lavington campus, contributed four more to the school's success. This year's competition saw the largest participation ever from Nairobi teams, adding significance to Brookhurst International Schools’ achievement.
The World Scholar's Cup is known for its rigorous academic challenges, including debates, writing tasks, and scholar's challenges, all aimed at fostering critical thinking and international understanding among students.

Two of our students, Salehe Nyaribari and Faith Lugor led the teams as chairs as they Facilitated the debates and guided the delegates. the event was highly intellectually engaging the various discussions on the topics at hand.

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) organized the National Swimming Championship 2024 at Machakos Academy with the primary aim of identifying a team that would represent the Kenyan Schools in the upcoming East Africa Schools Championships in August in Kampala, Uganda for the 2024 edition. The championship brought together talented young swimmers from various secondary and international schools across the region, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and compete at a higher level.
In a display of dominance, the Nairobi County Swimming Team emerged as the champions of the
KSSSA National Swimming Championship 2024. Our swimmers contributing to the general success of the team and making it through to the East Africa Schools Championship.
The team, consisting of Amanda Mukoto and Saniya Omorro, who had qualified for the national competition posting some impressive times in their county competitions prior to the national competition. They were then taken to the national competition where they were really challenged and once again proved and showcased their talents and dedication to the sport by participating in various events among them: breast stroke, freestyle, butterfly and relay in the 25m,50m and 100m races.
After a vigorous day of races on 11th and 12th April 2024, it was finaly the crowning moment where they got an impressive haul of 7 medals in total Saniya clinching 4 and Amanda getting 3 this later came to showcase team Brookhurst’s unparalleled excellence in the girls’ category.
The official announcement of the team to represent the country was provided by KSSSA, as anticipation builds for the opportunity to compete on the international stage and showcase their talent against top swimmers from across the East African Region.
We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance of our swimming team at the recent PIPPSA Invitational Swimming Gala. Despite facing strong competition, our talented swimmers displayed remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event collecting a whooping 25 medals tally for the competition 17 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals. The competition was held at St Bakhita School in Sabaki, near Mlolongo.
Their journey in the pool was marked by impressive swims, personal bests, and a collective effort that showcased their commitment to excellence.
Making it to the competition is a testament to their hard work and dedication to the sport over the term. Some of the student had just started competing officially in the Gala while some have been bossing it all along. Pola in particular had the best tally of medals getting all gold medals tallying to 7 showcasing her commitment and dedication as she led the team to the exploits in the competition.

Brookhurst Lavington students spent the month of March conducting academic excursions to different national facilities Firstly, Brookhurst Lavington Preparatory School students had an incredible opportunity celebrating world wildlife day with a walk on the wild side at the Nairobi Safari Walk. They marveled at the enormous rhinos and hippos, graceful giraffes and playful monkeys reminding us of the diverse wildlife that shares our planet with us
Secondly, Brookhurst Lavington Year 8's can tell of an unforgettable experience they had exploring The National Museum on their Art trip It was a day of discovery where they not only explored the rich history and cultural heritage preserved there but also learned about the different artistic movements and styles.
In our recent Year 5 biology session, students engaged in a hands-on experiment to explore the presence of starch in everyday foods Using iodine solution, they tested various food items and observed color changes indicating starch content.
Materials: Iodine solution, food samples (bread), small dishes, droppers.
Procedure: Students added iodine solution to food samples and noted color changes.
Observations: Foods containing starch turned dark blue/black upon contact with iodine.
Conclusion: This experiment provided students with practical insight into starch identification in foods, enhancing their understanding of biological concepts. Encourage further exploration of science at home to foster a lifelong love of learning.
On the 6th of March our students from year 7 all the way to year 13 showcased their prowess in science as they go to explore the vast wonders of the discipline.
Our year 10 students particularly wowed the audiences with their inventions or discoveries ranging from: making yoghurt, water powered wind mills to the automatic shower that switches off after a given period. Some students even brought out bacteria and tested their samples.
Certainly the pick of the bunch had to be the hydroponics experiment where our students showcased incredible resolve and mastery in the agricultural plane impressing not only the judges but our school director, Prof Ruth Waweru
Spirit week is designed to bring a spark of joy and creativity at school. our students enjoyed a relaxing last week of the term as they participated as follows;
March Monday was the mismatch and crazy hair day, followed by Tuesday’s pajama and no backpack day and finally Wednesday’s favourite sports attire and gaming day. This brought out the students’ creativity and boosted their morale. Additionally, it brought a sense of pride and community to a school to see everyone wearing similar things for the same reason
As per the British National Curriculum, the team taking Physical Education as one of their subjects had the opportunity to go for a rock-climbing assessment at Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha along with trips to Karura Forest for cycling and cross-country.
Reflecting on our recent expeditions, we're reminded of the sheer thrill and excitement that filled the air Scaling the rugged cliffs of Naivasha's iconic park and making laps at Karura was not just a physical challenge but a test of our student’s determination and teamwork.
