Richard Grant We are excited for

Richard, who was honored last summer at the Botanic Garden in Washington, DC, with the 30th Anniversary Lifetime Achievement Award from the Environmental Law Institute’s Wetland Awards. Richard was recognized for his decades-long dedication in wetlands protection, restoration, and education. Richard is the president of the Narrow River Preservation Association (NRPA) in his home state of Rhode Island; he has served in this role since 1996 when he was elected after over twenty years of service on the environmental nonprofit’s board of directors. Under his leadership, NRPA has grown to become the state-designated watershed council for the Narrow River. Richard is also widely lauded for strengthening the organization’s educational format in his capacity as both participant and facilitator of the “Art on the River” and “What is in the River” initiatives. Congratulations on this incredible honor, Richard—you make your Academy proud!

Jim Fonda We were happy to hear from Jim, who reports that he retired last year! Jim and his wife, Peggy, live in Raleigh, NC where they enjoy spending time with their two adult children who live nearby. Dr. Richard Sommers Richard reports that he still works full time during the academic year as a learning disabilities specialist at Cape Cod Community College. The student community is lucky to have you, Richard—keep up the good work!

Marc Posner We were happy to hear from Marc earlier this year, who shares that he has now recovered from back surgery and enjoys working as an usher for his community’s local minor league baseball team. His family still operates a large farm in central Illinois and, when they can, Marc and his family return to Maine for a portion of the summer. We’re so glad you’re feeling better, Marc, and we hope to see you on campus again soon!
