Updates from the Police Department Lock your car and garage door. 3/29/11 In Cary, over the past 15 months, 220 unforced burglaries have occurred in Cary. Unlocked cars, access to garage door openers, unlocked garages, and garage door entrances have given criminals easy access to purses, wallets, homes, and other valuables. As many of you are now aware, either by sight or getting pulled over, Holly Springs Police Department now has a special unit dedicated to enforcing traffic safety and speed limits. They have held several operations along Avent Ferry Rd, Hwy 55, business 55, and in various subdivisions within Holly Springs. The March Information Fair was very successful with several families turning out to shred documents and learn about other family safeguards. These events will continue to be a big part of our community. Future events will be posted on the website. New changes will occur within the department regarding the community watch liaison between the various subdivisions and the police department. Currently, Officer Nelson is our liaison. During the transition, Office Michael Stone will replace Officer Nelson as our liaison.

Non-Community Watch Topics A few e-mails have been sent to the community watch e-mail address and posted on the community watch Facebook page with inquires on topics that fall outside the scope of community watch. As a reminder, community watch is about protecting you, family, and neighbors from becoming a victim of criminal activity. In following those guidelines, the following topics should not be addressed through community watch communication methods: Speeding and Parking on the Streets – Contact the police department 557-9111 Speed Humps – This has been discussed at several board meetings. The town is against them. Incidents related to animals (Barking dogs, strays, unwelcomed wildlife, etc...– contact animal control or the police 557-9111. Noise ordinances – contact police 557-9111 Landscaping issues (tree branches on sidewalks, tall grass, un-kept lawns, etc) – contact a HOA board member.
