Hiring Process

Orientation Icebreaker- Remember My Name (25 minutes) The g oup will all sit in a circle., and the first g oup member will int oduce himself/herself. He/She will do that by giving himself/herself a nickname that star s with the same le er as his/her name. Then he/she will ex lain why he/ she chose that name. Then, the g oup works their way around repeating each nickname with each name along the way. If they mess up, they must star back at the beginning. Example: Beautif l Brandie, I think I am beautif l, and I came to volunteer to make others feel beautif l too.

Take a moment to think about what you would like to do as a volunteer. What are your qualifications, what positions do we have open? Make sure to take a look at our volunteer oppor nities we have open, and contact us with any questions.

Orientation- Approximately 1.5 h0urs

Step One: Look at your oppor nities

Step Two: Fill out your application Once you have had a chance to look at all oppor nities available, fill out a volunteer application and submit it to us. Please be sure that the application is filled out to the best of your knowledge. Also, our application requires t o le ers of reference, make sure those are a ached to the application for timely processing. Step Three: We process your application When we receive your application, we will r n a backg ound check and reach out to the t o reference provided. Aſter we have processed our application we will move on to step four.

Mission and Histor (15 minutes) Mission: Our mission is to provide exceptional education, ex er ser ice, and excellent qualit to communities around Utah. We are here to create confidence, build relationships, and educate communities so that they may excel in the f t re. The first par of this section of the orientation will be going around the room and asking why the volunteers are here. What about the organization sparked interest? Then, the volunteer manager will be playing a 7 minute movie of how the organization came to be, it will include the project that lead to the prog am, events and overall successes, testimonials om the volunteers and clients, and the excitement of the organization having the new volunteers on board.

Step Four: A end an inter iew Aſter we complete your reference and backg ound check we will invite you to an inter iew with our volunteer manager. Depending on the volunteer position you may be asked to a end an in-person inter iew, a phone inter iew, and/or a model inter iew. We will ask questions to gain a be er understanding of your skills and wants out of the position. Step Five: You are here! Upon invitation, you will be invited to join our team! You will be a ending an orientation that will cover the organization and the position you were hired for. There are t o orientations, one in the mor ing and one in the evening, on the first Tuesday of the month.

Ser ices and Goals (30 - 45 minutes) There will be t o categories of ser ices provided: Cut for Confidence Events and Cut for Confidence Classes. I will divide the g oup into t o teams. The volunteer coordinator will layout cards that have all ser ices and an ex a categor , goals, that we have on each card. The coordinator will write on the board Events | Education | Goals, and the teams will have to g ess which card falls into which categor and tape it to the wall. Once ever one has gone through the game, the coordinator will talk about each ser ice and goal and fix cards if they fell into the same categor , and the team with the most right will get a small give away. Volunteer Prog am (15 minutes) Meet the Executive Director and Founder of the organization. Both of these positions will be speaking about the volunteer prog am and how much it means to them that the volunteers are there. They will be going over some of the volunteer policies (the rest will be given to the volunteers in their own position t aining).

Step Six: Cut for Confidence The last step to your volunteer ex erience are a ending to our clients at our t o events per month. You will be able to add confidence to individuals and add a smile to their face!

Conclusion (10 mint es) The four leaders, t o om events and t o om education, will come to the orientation. These leaders will be int oduced and volunteers will be assig ed to a leader. The leaders will then take them to their t ainings the same day as orientation. Training, depending on the position will go for one hour to four hours.

He/She will also be responsible to a end a Cut for Confidence staff meeting, which is held ever second Sat rday of the month.

This position will be required to perfor lice and other hair screenings before providing one-on-one consultations with clients. He/She must have the abilit to stand and cut hair for an ex ended period of time, and provide qualit haircuts in a fast-paced environment.

This position will need to provide at least six consecutive months of volunteer ser ice. He/She will be working hand-in-hand with other volunteers at all times, so good team work skills are needed. This position will require good communication skills, the abilit to work under pressure, good hand-eye coordination, patience, a ention to detail, and the abilit and willing ess to follow inst ctions.

This position will be evaluated semi-annually to ensure the needs of the volunteer are being met as well as the organization. He/She will be required to keep t ack of how many haircuts were accomplished each event, and those numbers will be combined with others for the monthly staff meetings. One of our overall goals is to provide qualit haircuts to communities.

Volunteer Opportunities Dy amic Communication Ambassador This position is desig ed to provide an ex aordinar educational and infor ational ex erience to low-income families at the Cut for Confidence events. He/She will be communicating different infor ation to clients. This position will create confidence through education for communities. This position will be responsible to provide infor ation to clients about ser ices other sponsors have. He/She will be walking around events and passing out samples of a cer ain products and ex laining how to use the products. This position will be assisting the St ategic Educational Hair Desig ers with any hing needed. This position will repor directly to the Communications Volunteer Leader. He/She will be responsible to a end a once-a-month Cut for Confidence event, which will r n for approximately eight hours ever third Sat rday of the month. This position will need to provide at least three consecutive months of volunteer ser ice. He/She will be working hand-in-hand with other volunteers at all times, so good team work skills are needed. This position will require good communication skills, the abilit to talk to st angers, patience, a ention to detail, a passion for people, and the abilit and willing ess to ge ing the job done. This position will be asked to fill out an evaluation aſter each event to ensure the needs of the volunteer are being met as well as the organization. He/She will be required to dist ibute fiſt sample products per event, and provide qualit infor ation to clients. One of our overall goals is to provide communities the infor ation needed to build confidence.
